LeChuck Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...ing_over_Annan/ "“I don’t think any manager would sign a player on just two days trial - unless they were Lionel Messi or someone like that!" That really worries me. It's fair enough for complete unknowns like Samba and Nelsen were, but we can't keep expecting established international players playing in decent leagues to keep coming here for trials. I'm all for being being prudent, but that's taking it to the extreme and we'll miss out on some very good players with that attitude. Does Ince have no faith whatsoever in his scouting team?

nicko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...ing_over_Annan/ its gonna be an interresting night. however what i find funny is they are talking about a "two-day trial" how is that, nicko?? all sources say he came in on monday and got home on friday. must have been SOME flight delays then looking forward to the development. FACTS. Annan was here last Monday, but the manager watched the game at Blackpool. Annan was here on Tuesday when everyone trained. Annan was here on Wednesday, but I don't think it was a full training day. Annan was here on Thursday when he learned of his 'fate.' He flew home on Friday. And on which day did the chairman say he had 'done very well' at training?

modes98 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 He's been a bit of a cock in his past, but he's been fine with us and has grown up a lot. Anyway, going on what you need and what's out there, I think he'd be ideal. You don't. Fair enough. Maybe so, but his footballing ability remains the same, very limited. Apart from your game against Brum last season i don't think he turned up. If he is as good as you think then you should keep hold of him. Equally if £5-6m is a good price why haven't the likes of Sunderland, Wigan, etc (clubs who have the cash) ventured into talks about buying him?
rovers1993 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 i think this annan deal may not be as dead as it seems as incey and annan has been voicing over the deal with annan just saying he wants to come pure and simple. http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Foo...n-on-Blackburn/
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Foo...n-on-Blackburn/ ORLY? "They came over to see me". I guess we did have people there, somebody said they doubted we did earlier on. If those quotes are recent, we need to bag him while we can.
gazsimm Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Nicko, do you know if the mystery midfielder that Rovers are after would want to come to Rovers, and if so would the team he plays for allow him to leave?
Silencio Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Why the hell did we offer a 2 day trial which promised the player a decision if in Ince's words that is not enough?
Ewood and I Would Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Foo...n-on-Blackburn/ ORLY? "I hope for a response as soon as possible," he told Nettavisen. "They [blackburn] seem interested as, in any case, since they came all the way here to see me. "I have always dreamed of playing in England, France or Italy. I am ready for new challenges and would like to play for Blackburn if they want me." Weirdest "huff" I've ever seen
gazsimm Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Why the hell did we offer a 2 day trial which promised the player a decision if in Ince's words that is not enough? good point, this does not make sense at all.
nicko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Nicko, do you know if the mystery midfielder that Rovers are after would want to come to Rovers, and if so would the team he plays for allow him to leave? Well, he was offered to Rovers...so I take it that he would come. His club would be a persuaded by a transfer fee. Not sure this guy would come on loan first. But you never know.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 It's an interesting one. Would you say he is out of favour at his current club?
gbax Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Whatever. I didn't come on here for a cock measuring contest. I just wanted to see if there were any updates on Pennant. He's been a bit of a cock in his past, but he's been fine with us and has grown up a lot. Anyway, going on what you need and what's out there, I think he'd be ideal. You don't. Fair enough. You like the word 'cock' don't you?!
Cally Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 You like the word 'cock' don't you?! Freudian slip.
nicko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 "I hope for a response as soon as possible," he told Nettavisen. "They [blackburn] seem interested as, in any case, since they came all the way here to see me. "I have always dreamed of playing in England, France or Italy. I am ready for new challenges and would like to play for Blackburn if they want me." Weirdest "huff" I've ever seen I will try to write slowly, so that you can understand. Annan came over to Rovers - ahead of other clubs - because he thought he was going to be signed full-time. That is why Start let him go and Stabaek took a back seat and allowed it. A few days later he is told they would take him on loan. He went away and was upset. You may have failed to spot in his quote the phrase 'if they want me.' He doesn't know now whether they do or not. Certainly not enough to buy him...in the manager's own words.
b12_simon Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Maybe so, but his footballing ability remains the same, very limited. Apart from your game against Brum last season i don't think he turned up. If he is as good as you think then you should keep hold of him. Equally if £5-6m is a good price why haven't the likes of Sunderland, Wigan, etc (clubs who have the cash) ventured into talks about buying him? The press are touting us as front-runners as we have a vacancy at right midfield. Pennant wouldn't be my first choice but he's the best of what's available/affordable (unless Spurs stick a For Sale sign in Lennon to fund further spending).
nicko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 It's an interesting one. Would you say he is out of favour at his current club? He is a good player and there is a 'dispute' involved, but I don't want to say any more on this.
Ewood and I Would Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I will try to write slowly, so that you can understand. Um if you're writing slowly that implies you're the one having trouble, do you mean I should read slowly? Keep on with insults nicko if it makes you feel like the big man but at least get your "insults" right I suppose you're standing by the no trial offer from Arsene too or do you now admit that he will go there on trial should Rovers not make an offer?
Sandiway Blue Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 He is a good player and there is a 'dispute' involved, but I don't want to say any more on this. Would you say he would improve our midfield? thanks.
nicko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Would you say he would improve our midfield? thanks. I haven't seen him personally, but he has a good CV.
Roar of the Rover Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I haven't seen him personally, but he has a good CV. Better than Henk's
Fife Rover Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Hmm, not wishing to sound cynical, well okay I am. At a wild guess, I'm thinking you're under 25. Are we talking football scouts, or did-dib-dab type ones? Maybe your mate is grey ferret, Akela, whatever. Aren't football scouts usually old dodderers that have been in football for yonks? And he's your mate? I would suggest 'chief' scout is singular. IF your mate was chief scout, should you not say 'the chief scout'? Funnily enough, for a position that actually has a guy with a name in the public domain, these type of rumours often never quote it, but the position. Do you call him 'scout' rather than his name? He must be a corking scout if his sole criteria for picking a player to replace another is to find one with a similar name, much less his skill, playing position etc. If there's one thing worse than rumours and speculation, it's naff ones. Here I say DB! Give the child a break, he is only 6yrs old (well mentally at least) and most likely a Dingle to boot. How much more under-privileged can one get?
RoversSG Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Nico's piece in the Mirror this morning on life at Citeh. If that's true, surely we should be going in for Ireland. At 6m, i think it's definitely worth it. We can prob try bidding 10m for both ireland and corluka to see if they're desperate enough to accept it. In case anyone wants update on man city news, Thaksin just issued a statement saying he is not returning to Thailand but staying in England instead. The thai authorities have also issued a warrant of arrest. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp.../366804/1/.html
