Bobby G Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 But possibly one definite club to come in, Spurs...

LDRover Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I agree wholeheartedly with that Bobby G. As it stands at present I would say that the credibility level of Ince and to a slightly lesser extent the whole of the club's board of management is teetering on the edge of total collapse with the mass of Rovers supporters. Maybe that is a bit over the score, but it is how I feel about it all. Anyway, I certainly feel that if another top level player were to leave or even make noises about wanting to leave then the whole credibilty thing will come crashing down in a big way. Worse than 1960, and that cost Rovers literally 1000's of lost supporters (a lot of them permanently lost). I hope and pray that the statement in the LT that no players will leave for anywhere is the correct line, and that the club stick to it. The consequences of failure in that respect are too terrible to contemplate. Can't see it Fife. If one of our better players (Warnock, Roque) has interest shown from a top 4 club (or Spurs, Newcastle and possibly Villa for that matter) they'll be off and there's sod all we can do about it. They might be under contract and the club may peddle the hard line but how many times in the past have we held on to players intent on leaving? Maybe McCarthy, and look how he's regressed. He may well come to regret last night's statement in the LT, no matter how good the intention was.
nicko Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 But one pushing harder.. I just love this place... If you won the lottery the first thing you would say is 'Wish it had been a Double Rollover.' Cracks me up at times.
BiggusLaddus Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Berbatov to Man U may be going through very shortly...which means one less club to come in for Roque. But also one more? *edit* far too slow this morning, Nicko's was the last post when I wrote mine.

He may well come to regret last night's statement in the LT, no matter how good the intention was. It is a calculated risk- how many days left to brass neck it out if he has to versus the probability of being able to sign an adequate/acceptable replacement in the current market. Turned a necessity into a virtue IMO.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I just love this place... If you won the lottery the first thing you would say is 'Wish it had been a Double Rollover.' Cracks me up at times. I was more worried about Spurs coming in for Santa, not Manure. Now they need a replacement and have big money. Lets just hope they go for a flashier player.
gazsimm Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Nicko, do you think we will have any new faces at the club before the season opener on Saturday?.
key76 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Hopefully Spurs will go for someone like Eto'o, Kanoute or Villa...fingers crossed.
gazsimm Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Hopefully Spurs will go for someone like Eto'o, Kanoute or Villa...fingers crossed. one thing for sure, which i hate to admit, Tottenham are going to be a very good team this year.
lockers Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 With regards to the lack of new players being bought, I would rather be in the position we are in now, than the position someone like Fulham were in last season when Lawrie Sanchez brought in a lot of players, spending a lot of money, and got them nowhere.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I have to say that your club is leaking like a sieve at the moment and several people in there need to sharpen up their act. I spend more time chasing stupid rumours coming from the place than I want to. I could go further but I will bite my lip on this at the moment. Interesting - a bad apple or two amongst the players? Actually, probably completely unrelated, but nicko's comment rang a bell in the back of my mind, I wonder if John Williams ever uncovered the identity of "the mole" who leaked Tony Parkes' sacking to the press before he was told?
unleaded Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Nicko WHY has it taken so long for a Big club like BRFC to sign a player from a 4th division club?............I just dont understand this little saga?..................I am sure that if a club like PNE went in for him all this would have been wrapped up by now...........so why so long for Rovers?
Parsonblue Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Now my 5 reasons why Ince is the right man for the job. 1. He IS a successful manager. He has proven that he deserves a chance with what he has achieved at Macclesfield and MK Dons in just 2 years. THE FOURTH DIVISION IS A DIFFERENT WORLD. JUST WATCH A FEW GAMES AT ACCRINGTON STANLEY IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME. 2. He is a proven winner, he has won trophies as a player and a manager. HOW MANY MEMBERS OF ENGLAND'S WORLD CUP WINNING TEAM BECAME SUCCESSFUL MANAGERS? WITH REGARD TO HIS MANAGERIAL SUCCESS SEE ABOVE. 3. He wants to play attractive football, something which all of his sides play and something we did not see a lot of under Hughes! HUGHES TOOK US TO EUROPE TWICE AND TWO FA CUP SEMI-FINALS AND A LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL. THAT WILL DO FOR ME. 4. He has shown that he can make tough decisions, like not selling Brad until Robinson signed and not purchasing players being thrown at him because he like Hughes thinks of Rovers money as his money. BRAD WAS GOING AND IT WAS A CASE OF FINDING A SUITABLE REPLACEMENT. ROBINSON IS A DECENT KEEPER BUT IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN IF HE WILL DEVELOP INTO ANOTHER BRAD. WHAT HE IS QUOTED AS SAYING ABOUT FOWLER IN TODAY'S LT DOESN'T INSPIRE CONFIDENCE. 5. Last but not least JW hired him for the job. He has made two excellent appointments in Souness and Hughes for Blackburn Rovers and there is no reason why Ince should be any different. BILL BANCROFT MADE THREE EXCELLENT APPOINTMENTS IN KEN FURPHY, GORDON LEE AND JIM SMITH. THEN JIM ILEY ARRIVED. EVERYBODY GETS IT WRONG AT SOME POINT. THERE IS NOTHING TO SAY THAT INCE ISN'T GOING TO BE ANOTHER ILEY.
Billy Castell Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Or perhaps that Russian bloke. I can't wait until the first RSC-Spuds link.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Parson Blue, There's nothing to suggest that Ince is going to be another Jim Iley either. However whilst the gossip and information weren't as freely available in those days, and we had to wait for the Evening Telegraph to come out for our Rovers news, I doubt people were circling over Iley hoping he would fail before a ball had even been kicked, to anything like the same extent
imy9 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Ince won two trophies in his first year with MK Dons. The fourth division is a different league from the PL but winning it is still difficult as the opposition are similar to you!! He also got Macclesfield out of trouble when they were 12 points adrift playing attractive football, what has Southgate done or Keane? He deserves a chance but the feeling that I am getting is that if he has a few bad results there will be people calling for him to be sacked! Oh by the way Parsons I am assuming that Big Sam was your choice for the job, he has a better record than Hughes- do check.
Hughesy Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 This the one nicko? "SSN Paper talk According to reports in the local Valencia press, former Arsenal midfielder Edu has been offered to Premier League clubs as he will be allowed to leave the Mestalla."
rover6 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Nicko WHY has it taken so long for a Big club like BRFC to sign a player from a 4th division club?............I just dont understand this little saga?..................I am sure that if a club like PNE went in for him all this would have been wrapped up by now...........so why so long for Rovers? Indecision? Haggling? Disagreement? I have a feeling that Andrews was a contingency and Ince was hoping that a more established player would sign but as that becomes more and more unlikely, he is turning to Andrews. But, perhaps, he is waiting until he is certain that the preferred aren't coming. Just a guess.
BlueMG Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 one thing for sure, which i hate to admit, Tottenham are going to be a very good team this year. Sky Sports saying that Spurs are still interested in Nene. They're going to have a pretty impressive midfield if that materialises.

RevidgeBlue Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Are you Paul Ince or Ray Mathias? Are you Sam Allardyce?
imy9 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I love Blackburn Rovers FC and Ince is the manager of my football club. He has arrived and had it tough, he is young, inexperienced but wants to be here (which is more than Hughes can say), so give the bloke a chance and I mean a real chance, a dozen games til christmas and we take it from there. All this in house fighting- amongst the fans will not achieve anything.
BlueMG Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Are you Paul Ince or Ray Mathias? Or are you MH trying to get his feet back under the table?
