Nicko, the rumours of Sparky walking out, is there any truth in that?

The Sun back page today was just an attempt to catch up with the Mirror story yesterday.

Things are bad there just now. But Sparky is a fighter. I hear he laid down a few ground rules in the last 48 hours...but that won't make the books balance all the same.

If this in house fighting gets rid of a guy who clearly wants to sign Robbie Fowler, is rumoured to want Keith Andrews, has signed Paul Robinson, has put Ray Mathias in charge of training and has got the Premiership/media circling round us like vultures within 7 weeks of being appointed then I think it will have achieved a good thing...

BTW, just because Hughes wanted to leave (after 4 years of progress which was hitting the buffers) that doesn't mean we have to now put up with anyone just because they "want the job."

Wanting the job means sweet FA if you are out of your depth. Laudrup wasn't desperate because he's better than Ince but if we had him then you can rest assured we wouldn't have had to put up with this shambles all Summer regardless of wether he'd be off to bigger and better things in 1 or 2 years time.

Tell me Bish what makes you so qualified to judge on Paul Ince's ability I take it you have your pro-licence have been in the game since you where 8 years old??? Have you played under one of the greatest managers ever?? Can you kick a ball, other than on a play station?? Perhaps you once guided Rovers to the Prem in FM?

You constantly come out with such educated statements as "don't talk shyte" thats one of the best arguments since "it just is", I'll use that in my next dissertation , Thanks.

You state Laudrup wasn't desperate for the Job, so why the statement with reference to JW??? Of course he never wanted it thats why he attended the interview, made public declarations that he did want it. The board had criteria, they felt Ince fitted the bill, if you want to influence the decisions within our club go do whats required to join the board/coaching team, given your statements I believe you may struggle on Level 1.

I have also questioned the First team coaches, but at the same time have said I will give them a chance, I have not seen them at work neither have you, I will reserve judgment till I am better informed and have real results with which to Judge. Rather than your stance of taking all that you read as fact and claiming it to be your reasoned  opinion. I can guess that if the paper said that pots of gold really where at the end of rainbows you would still chase them??? Others would realise they cannot be caught!

Ego-centrism, is a word that you should look up quickly, it may give you greater perspective on life, and an appreciation of others. If you want to Critisize our manager then do so with facts, not garbage and innuendo, base your arguments with structure and well thought out comments.

Nicko hasn't made any judgements. All the people who want to pretend things look great keep blaming Nicko for the fact that some others can smell the ###### a mile off...

So its fact that you can smell shyte a mile away, my god the comments I want to say to that.

Please tell me why once again, I have asked you to already to explain your so called facts to those of us less educated than your esteemed self.

What about Benni and any possible replacemen, should he move?

P.S. Hope he does, I think he's gone all Dwight Yorke.

If we could sign a good replacement then yes, he doesn't want to be here any more I am sad to say. He was brilliant when he signed.

The replacement would have to be very good and I wouldn't trust Ince to sign a very good replacement or a good replacement to sign for him (unless you count Fowler as very good).

Nicko a question on this Man City debacle, have we recieved all our funds for the Hughes/Staff compensation?

John (I know your question was to Nicko) ,but your question has been answered in this thread several times by other informed posters.. Not picking, just letting you know. :)

Yes...Man City paid the money but had to borrow it to pay it.

A very good question and a pleasing answer. If Hughes was to walk away would there been any restrictions on him getting straight back into the game? The fee that City forked out was equivalent to what would be paid for a decent player, but a player couldn't just walk out and start again could he, so what about Sparky?

Mods, Can we please make this thread a bit more informative again, and filter out all the Ince discussion to another thread as well as the personal bickering?

I'm spending too much time here at work reading through posts that nothing to do with nicko and his information.....

1st of all don't put someone else's words in my mouth.

With regards to Laudrup, my comment about him being less desperate for the job than Ince is with regards to other's assertions that we should not have appointed him because he might "bugger off to Spain" in a year. I expect more clubs want him than want Paul Ince. If he had "buggered off" for bigger and better things it would indicate he was taking is forward anyway. I seriously doubt we'd have the bad vibes coming from the club at the moment if Laudrup had been in charge.

You keep wanting to talk about "facts" etc like this is some science paper but you can tell when something is going on at a Football Club. Have you seen Tom Hicks and Gillett's bank statements? How about Thaksins? Until you have then maybe you should assume they are good Chairmen because you don't know the facts.

In the real world you and I both know Hicks, Gillett and Thaksin aren't in it for the right reasons based on feelings and strong rumours (not indisputable facts). I have a feeling Ince is not good enough based on the same things. I might be wrong, maybe Mathias and Knox are great, maybe Fowler will be good, same with Keith Andrews, maybe the players respect Paul Ince like they did Mark Hughes...

PS: Maybe we should move into another thread, sorry mods...

Does THIS article, not suggest that we haven't been paid yet?

Of the 10 headline signings made since his arrival, only the recent £5m acquisition of Tal Ben Haim involved money paid to an English club, in this instance Chelsea, with the remaining nine, including the the £8m Elano, the £19m Brazilian striker Jo and the £8.8m Italian forward Rolando Bianchi, payable in several instalments. The second instalments on those deals are now due while loan fees for Nery Castillo, wages, severance pay for Eriksson and compensation to Blackburn for Hughes have also added to the costs for City and their owner.

I can read that two ways.

Just wanted to thank Nicko & Rebelswar et all for the effort that goes into your involvement on this and the "For those on the move" version, not kissing butt, just thanks & appreciation when and where it is due. (So there you go, a big thanks.)

Your contributions make this board a much better place for your input and long may it continue as far as I'm concerned!

(I'll probably get grief from some for posting this, but to be honest I don't care)

Some of the criticism that is directed at Nicko et all is bang out of order IMHO, why don't some people pause in their mail responses or re read before they hit send, hope none of you are discouraged from posting following some of the recent posts!

I reckon of things stated versus those that come to pass, as a percentage success rate, is probably very high Nicko...
