Silencio Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Warnock has NOT asked away...but he does fancy Newcastle United. This is becoming a nightmare and explains why there were so many bids for him and all of this chatter. So that wasn't me revving it up after all. To clarify...I heard this story yesterday, checked it out and discovered he has NOT put in a request. He still has not. But he DOES want away. Warnock obviously thinks/knows Newcastle United are still in for him and does not want to miss the chance. This is becoming a bit troubling. Nicko, what is it that has changed Warnocks mind, he seemed to like it here last season and Newcastle are a shambles (although I''d say we have become one in the last 7 weeks).

But he DOES want away. Warnock obviously thinks/knows Newcastle United are still in for him and does not want to miss the chance. This is becoming a bit troubling. This all strikes me as the reason Ince made the "nobody is leaving" statement the other day. Warnock hasn't handed a transfer request, Geordies haven't made an acceptable offer, yet Warnock wants out and it is getting to the press. No, strike me down if i'm wrong but doesn't this bring us full circle to tapping up type discussions again - I get the feeling Incey's outburst was as a result of a massive amount of this sort of thing going on.
nicko Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I thought you'd be following this thing with Scudamore and all the players/managers on SSN Nicko? I have had the phone glued to my ear all day and probably won't be able to get to a game tonight. Mind you, missing out on Scudamore droning isn't a great loss.
Hughesy Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 £8m and they can have him if he wants to go - id rather have someone that actually wants to play for a club, rather than someone motivate by cash and fame!! But only once we have our replacement already set up.
Esulx Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 The trials and tribulations of supporting a small town team!!! I was properly downhearted when we were relegated but this pre-season is really getting to me. Nicko, have you got any positive news for us??? Here's hoping.

novella Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 to be honest not quite sure what he sees in newcastle. if warnock wants to leave in my opinion we should maybe cash in and replace him with an up and coming left back. he's a great player but can we afford someone who wants out to be playing in an already alledegly demoralised team?
EwoodGlory Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Taiwo was at Newcastle this week and last week, 100%. What's happening with that? They were hoping to tie it up, so they could announce him at the open day training session at St James tomorrow, along with Colocinni. If he signs then they wont be going for Warnock.
colbert Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 all this talk is not helping me get any work done!!

That Taiwo info was from a fan who claimed to be ITK. Not many people believe him though, so I'd take with a pinch of salt.
trs Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I think I had better pass on that one just now... This is all building up to a future story from yourself about the players and their lack of respect for Ince, is it not? That's not me having a go at anyone, but slowly coming to the inevitable conclusion that our players have no faith/respect, call it what you want, in their new boss.

When do 'teething problems' become the need for a trip to the dentist?
Darth Paul Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Reading between the lines, my guess is that Nicko feels that the players aren't happy with the new training regime under Ince. They may be right of course but as we keep saying, the season hasn't even started yet. Like everyone else on here I want to see Rovers do well and if Ince doesn't succeed then of course I will want a new manager in, BUT, if the players, with their huge wages and supposed commitment to the club can't even stick around to give the new manager a chance for a few games then they are just as weak minded and shallow as some of the posters on here, who by their standard set on here must be on their 4th or 5th marriages and 20th different career moves. Ince should tell Warnock to shut it and get working. If he doesn't like it he shouldn't have signed a 4 year deal. Give Olsson a run out and bench Warnock, and see how the England career goes then...if he is even motivated by football, which sadly I am beginning to doubt...if Newcastle United is the answer then it must have been a very silly question...
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Warnock has NOT asked away...but he does fancy Newcastle United. Does he have a brain? He wants to go to the career graveyard that is Newcastle United? We have more chance of getting Europe than they have, we have achieved success in recent years and they haven't and he is part of the England set up whilst playing for Rovers. It must be money, though from what i've heard they aren't exactly flashing the cash and are having wage problems.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I thought you'd be following this thing with Scudamore and all the players/managers on SSN Nicko? Oh Ashbee...such a joker! Seeing Spuds get an award for the fair play makes it even more of a joke that Man City are in Europe because of fair play!

Sandiway Blue Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Because Hughes had less to lose. He took over when the club was in a rut after Souness and on the brink of relegation and therefore had time to turn the club around to how he wanted it to be, as if we had gone down it would have been due to Souness and not Hughes. Ince has come in when the club is in a positive state so is under pressure to keep the current level up but still needs time to put his stamp on things. As for Andrews, OK so he wasn't a success at Wolves but who was his manager? Not Ince - maybe Andrews played well for MK Dons as Ince gets the best out of him and that's what he needs. Hugues seemed to manage it with Samba, Bellamy etc so why not Ince. Not saying he is or is not good enough, but some players are rubbish until they find a manager who can get the best from them. Great post! If we look at Bellamy he had his most productive season at Rovers and Hughes got the best out of him.Bellers then went to Liverpool and had a nightmare because the fat spanish waiter didn`t have a clue on how to play him to his strengths. I`ve always thought some players are suitable for certain systems and some aren`t. Keith Andrews had a storming season for MK franchise, now that is for one of two reasons: 1:He found his level, but given he was the youngest captain of Wolves and touted as a great prospect etc then that is open to question. 2:There are very few teams from the bottom half of the premiership downwards that actually play the ball on the deck.MK franchise Lead By Ince did play the ball on the deck and got the rewards their style of play deserved. So the question is did Andrews find his true level? or did Ince get the best out of him? Either way the majority of us haven`t seen Andrews play,Ince has.Let Ince do the job he is paid for and the end of the season will decide on whether he is right for Rovers or not.
Head Rover Heels Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I really hope i'm not reading into what you are saying! So do I. Ambiguous statements leading to a mob rising against Ince over something that is a)conjecture in the first place, and b)not a decisive action - A request isn't always granted, and c) has been denied anyway, is an incredibly dangerous situation to get ourselves into. When Sparky started it wasn't all rosy, in fact it was so bad that our captain dug his heels in and demanded a move at below market value. That turned out alright after a bit. We've had a couple do it already and we've made a killing on them, and since then Ince has put his foot down - Now we either knee jerk and get rid, throwing the club into absolute chaos and we follow the rudderless demise that has been so well demonstrated before, or we give our manager the chance to prove his worth. I wasn't fully behind him before, but with assembling a backroom team, scouting, trialing, and putting up with all the garbage that has come through thanks to the lovely agents in the game, i certainly am now. He's done a good job so far, let's see how he handles this.
