ben_the_beast Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I'm going into hibernation untill saturday. We need the season to start BADLY. A few wins is the only thing that is going to steady the ship right now
mjs Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 We need the season to start BADLY. I think there is a good chance that will happen.
philipl Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Just for infor andrews plays for MK Dons as captain tonight Jemal Johnson in the same side.
bringdunnback Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I have to laugh of myself. I refuse to watch Desperate Housewives with my girlfriend claiming I'm not into the drama and gossip. Then I find myself here pushing the refresh button to get the next fix of drama, gossip and anxiety. The internet information overkill is getting to me. How I long for the days when I had to visit my grandfather to read his weekly football paper on what the actual transfers where in England. How simple it was, just plain facts. The buying club, the selling club and the amount. Then there was just games, you just watch games and enjoy the football. I didn't know that Shearer and Sutton wasn't the best of pals, and I really didn't care because they were SAS and won us the league. Now the whole football is ridiculous. You have pundits analyzing Ronaldo's choice of boots on whether he going to Madrid or not. You have players injured that suddenly get fit when they change clubs. You have players asking for transfers after declaring they are happy with the new manager, shady agents leaking stories to the press. Everything is allegedly, or we are in the understanding of. Where the world of plain facts go? Do I need the drama? No. Am I hooked? Yes. Somebody help me, I just want to go back to watching the games and only caring for the football! I love Desperate Housewives, but your still absoulutely right, I can't wait for September 1st when the window shuts and we can all concentrate on the real stuff.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 TBQH- Im not so sure why the surprise with the current goings on. This has been coming for over 12 months or so. Look at the barbed comments of MH on numerous occasions on lack of ambition and lack of funding and the feeling that he wanted to be anywhere apart from Ewood. Look at the comments one the finest most loyal servants in past several decades has said about the ‘uncertainty’ surrounding the ownership issue. People made excuses for the board- probably due to a feeling of loyalty to JW’s former colleagues and family members. It is increasingly obvious that although the new manager is far from popular – the real problem lies at boardroom level, where- no matter what smartarse tries to tell us there is an apparent upheaval. The position taken by the trust has lead to this upheaval- you cant own a premiership club in this era without releasing substantial funds to the manager- many will say we don’t the cash, in 2006 we spent X amount on wages etc. Reality check… its 2008 and we have generated around 25 million in extra income; if we sell Warnock we will have over 30 million in additional income. We need to spend it wisely on three key players- it is my guess that the board have been instructed by the trust to hold onto this cash and not release this money; thus we have the scrambling around for freebies, loans and 4th division singings. One can only assume why the board are acting in such a manner. Ince wasn’t my 1st choice ( infact he wouldn’t of even of been on my shortlist), However, you have to feel sorry for the guy if his best players are walking out on him due to the turmoil at boardroom level and then not been given any proper transfer to replace the & improve the squad.

Eva Longoria is also far better looking than Nicko.
ABBEY Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I love Desperate Housewives, man do you realize you just that out loud?????
BlueMG Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 When it all seems to be getting a bit too much, you just want to close the curtains and sit in a dark corner and weep, Just remember..... Manchester City. Ha ha! I'm sure that the time for worrying isn't now. Lets get Saturday out of the way and go from there.
thenodrog Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I am getting very nervous with all of our top players wanting to leave for other clubs, Ince must put his foot down and not allow any of them to leave the club. Too late for that. Two have already gone. I said at the time that Williams should have done that as soon as he named the new manager.

I have to agree. Where the hell has the money gone?
Flopsy Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 funily enough, I was just talking to my mate who's a big Everton fan, they're having much the same issues with their board/funding. Expect them to be in big trouble/Moyes to walk about Christmas if he doesnt get the funding
Roaming Rover Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Just for infor andrews plays for MK Dons as captain tonight Does that mean he'll be cup tied wheb we reach the final next year
Bazzanotsogreat Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 funily enough, I was just talking to my mate who's a big Everton fan, they're having much the same issues with their board/funding. Expect them to be in big trouble/Moyes to walk about Christmas if he doesnt get the funding The differnce is Flopsy that they have backed there manager to the tune of £60million + over the past 3 and a bit seasons. In the same period Rovers net spend is around £3.5 million. Kind of puts it into context
LeChuck Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 funily enough, I was just talking to my mate who's a big Everton fan, they're having much the same issues with their board/funding. They bid £12 million for Moutinho, they're not even approaching our problems.
thenodrog Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Time for Ince and JW to stand by their comments and put their foot down. If they are unable to do that the pair of them must consider standing aside.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Too late for that. Two have already gone. I said at the time that Williams should have done that as soon as he named the new manager. There is no comparison between Friedel/Bentley and Warnock. We weren't to know Villa would offer Friedel a ludicrous sum of money but then saw a one off opportunity to replace him. Bentley was always going regardless of the manager - we got a decent price for him, and imo we wouldn't have got a performance out of him this season had he stayed. There is however no possible upside to selling the outstandingly consistent Warnock for what wouldn't be a particularly large fee, given his value to us.. I suspect Ince pre-empted this development by announcing yesterday that that no more players would be leaving "100%." I expect him and John Williams to stick to that.
Frisky Jim Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 If they are unable to do that the pair of them must consider standing aside. Agreed, and that day cannot come soon enough. Williams needs to take a long look at himself for appointing such an inept prat as manager.
EwoodGlory Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 We're about to make a signing. Watch this space. Details?
67splitscreen Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 you'd also think that although it was his ultimate decision to make he would have "ran it past" the players for any immediate signs he wouldn't be welcomed. Since when did any managerial appointment become the business of the employees/shop floor. Any senior manager/chairman who consults with the employees over there new manager should not be in that position in the first place.
67splitscreen Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Good news if you ask me - MK obviously want a piece of our cash, just because of the Hughes and Bentley money. I bet they wouldn't ask 2m of Barnsley et al. Glad we're standing firm and not throwing it around. Watford offered 700k in june.

If they don't stick to that, they will be foolish considering the level of unrest from the fans (on this forum anyway). Is the transfer request definite? If not, this story hasn't changed for a couple of weeks when Nicko stated it still 'had legs' so I'm quite surprise by the major panic.
jodrell Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 The alternative hypotheses are equally scary: - Ince found he and his team are totally out of touch with Premiership life and potential transfer targets (Ince had a spell at Wolves before going to Macclesfield so he is five years out of top level football) - Ince and the pensioners have no meaningful/useful networks - Ince himself is so scared of making a decision he won't make one - Ince and pensioners don't command the same attention and respect at Premier League/ La Liga etc level as Sparky did so cannot attract the same calibre players, As I've previously commented, Hughes personal relationship brought us Bellamy; Ince is bringing dear old Robbie Fowler and perhaps Keith Andrews. Here's hoping we get a huge nice surprise new signing who has slipped right through the radar.
