philipl Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Incey really hasn't watched the EPL since he last played in it with Wolves. Robinson, Pennant, Konchesky and Fowler were £25m worth of talent back then. That sadly seems to be a very accurate observation. I thought folks were joking when they said Ince was playing Bert at right wing again because of the 5-1 mauling of Wolves but now I am seriously wondering... Sun reckons Man City asked about RSC but were told a firm no.

The Rover of Finland Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Konchevsky??!! Nitro sale will pass pies at Ewood halftimes. What next? Chris Baird? Hope it´s only o rumour..really do!
LDRover Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 As for Keith Andrews...not only did he play tonight but he set up the winner against Championship side Norwich. MK Dons 1 Norwich 0 Yes he did and in the report on the goal on SSN Tony Cottee said he'd been having 'a poor game'. In the words of Stefan Dennis 'Don't it make you feel good?'
Silencio Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Yes he did and in the report on the goal on SSN Tony Cottee said he'd been having 'a poor game'. Maybe League 1's to difficult for him. Ince, come out an say it, are you after Andrews or not?
rover6 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Emerton is probably the worst right midfielder in the Premier League, while Reid has not been himself for nearly three years now. Going into the game against Everton with just these options is bad enough, but until Christmas? A whole season? That is hugely negligent from Ince. I'm pretty sure that Ince will be playing Emerton at right midfield. Emo will have a good game against Everton, just watch. Then he'll rapidly decline in following matches, as the novelty wears off, and his slow thought process takes hold. Gus Hiddink told the world that Emerton had no creativity in him, I think the world should take heed. "God, Fullback - there's the fullback, I'm twice as quick as him but what to do, what to do?.....I know, pass back to Danny Simpson and that'll be fine. There you go, Danny....and don't think about passing back because I don't have a clue what to do with the football" (We do have Alan Judge to play right wing and whilst people may scoff, he may prove a better winger than Emerton.)
Guest Kamy100 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 In today's Lancashire Telegraph today John Williams has said "Stephen Warnock has NOT handed in a transfer request".

BrianPotter Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Its a pretty bad blow if Warncock wants to go, especially as he came out and said he was happy under Ince. For me, it shows that after a few weeks under Ince he isn't impressed with what hes seen. Still think its out of order to sign a new deal in May, then come out and say he's happy but then hand in a transfer request though. Secondly, is anyone else concerned about the fee's being banded around - £4m for an England internation left back?? We're being robbed if he goes for that! How much did Bale leave Southampton for???
Heinz Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Apparently AZ Alkmaar are considering a bid for Andre Ooijer but reckon it will not be "easy" since he is such a key player for us according to his agent: see Google translate of Voetbalzone Yet another part in the exodus?
hawkiiz Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Secondly, is anyone else concerned about the fee's being banded around - £4m for an England internation left back?? We're being robbed if he goes for that! thats why he wont go for that amount. we cant sell any more players at this point. except maybe gallagher.

blue and whites Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 does anybody know who the unknown player nicko says we are tracking?
alexanders Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 does anybody know who the unknown player nicko says we are tracking? Konchesky.
wandel77 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Apparently no body, no transfer news from Rovers.
vintageadidas Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 As Nicko has stated time and time again...........he wants out of the club but has not handed in a transfer request. Yet. I also believe that he has mentioned about the 1980's style training methods such as group sit ups and press ups.

Some of them have come back after summer looking like they need to do alot of sit ups and press ups!
Hughesy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 TCJ_Jones should be put on suicide watch I think. For your info mate, we have signed 2 additions – a creative midfielder and a right back – two positions we have needed to address for 2 years +. Fowler hasn’t signed – albeit Yet! Andrews – we are refusing to pay £2m. As for trialists only being centre mid? What about the central defender/ right back from France, Keeper from Barcelona. Im sure we have had a lot more than 5 in too. Right wing – Brett Emerton is far from the worst in the league – he will always give you 100% and will do a decent enough job if necessary. As for targets – they change with managers – Hughes probably did have his eye on someone, however Ince is new to this level and therefore has to do the relevant research of available talent. Or would you rather we spent £8m on a flop?! Warnock – hasn’t handed in a transfer request. As for signing impressive names – who was the last one? Probably Robinson last month!

The panic on this forum yesterday was unbelievable! It was like throwing a Chippendale into a convent. There was no new news. We all knew Warnock 'wanted out'. The new news was that Ince was sticking to his guns and until Warnock trots off up to the barcodes, we've got to assume that he'll stick to his word. For his own good, I hope he does. As I keep saying, we need to get a couple of games under our belt and then start to decide whether we should be # it or not. Both our away and home fixtures are winnable and I'm predicting 6 points after two. That wouldn't be a bad start in anyone's book.

neophox Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Nicko, whats hot today. I expect Rovers to sign someone.
BlueMG Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Nicko, What's the reaction from Start on the Racing bid for Annan? They sitting tight waiting for a bidding war (which should never have happened!)?
The Prof. Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 What a bloody shambles. Enough. I've tried to find the positive in all this all summer but honestly what on Earth is going on? Bentley and Brad leave. Fair enough with Bentley but Brad was a big surprise - despite the alleged reports that he handed his request in a day after Hughes left. We bring a manager in from Division 2 with no experience of managing Premier League players and no UEFA badges. We surround him with several coaches and fitness coaches - with no UEFA badges. We hire a keeper coach. New keeper coach leaves days after we get a new keeper. We sign a relatively unknown player after watching him on YouTube. There are more "leaks" now than for many years as to player unrest. Warnock wants out now - who is next? ThAxe at Centre Half? Get rid of Zurab? (but but but - No One Is Leaving). Reid at right back? Emerton at right wing? Fowler? Keith Andrews? Funds? £15m for Bentley, £10m existing "War Chest" (as reported in March/April), £5m compo for The Welsh, £3m from The Trust. But £2m is a bit steep for Andrews. We've spent approx £1m this summer? (exc wages of course). 3 in - 2 on loan - and 5 out. Annan is "great" but we're really not sure after all. We sign Roque Sante Cruz's kid brother. Presumably to keep Roque happy. Every two bit club in the Prem is linked with our players all summer and we do next to nothing in the "bullish" stakes to quell the rumour machine until yesterday. We lose to Sporting Lisbon, Wolves, Hoffenheim and Blackpool pre-season. However, it's not all bad, I'm actually reasonably pleased with the Robinson signing and we have a nice shop. Oh and a lovely Multi Faith Room - but that will probably smell of wee. Like I said - a bloody shambles. Says it all at the moment. We're not helping ourselves and I wonder if confidence in the manager has already gone? The leavings - well I can live with that. The targets/loanings - whoaaaa - this would make me look around too if my livelihood depended on it. Just hope the targets improve soon.
imy9 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I think it is a incredibly important that Ince signs a couple of players to raise spirits in the camp. I think Pennant could be a good signing as could Andrews (if given a chance). However I would love to see our transfer record of £7.5 million shattered with a top class defensive midfield player, like Appiah. Some positive news today Nicko would be greatly appreciated
hawkiiz Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Nicko, What's the reaction from Start on the Racing bid for Annan? They sitting tight waiting for a bidding war (which should never have happened!)? Svein Mathisen just said it was rejected. he will not confirm any size of the bid, and says that the 2m people are throwing around is only agents talking. Thats the official statement. nicko may know more though. Nicko, whats hot today. I expect Rovers to sign someone. do you really?
