I think it is a incredibly important that Ince signs a couple of players to raise spirits in the camp.

I think Pennant could be a good signing as could Andrews (if given a chance).

However I would love to see our transfer record of £7.5 million shattered with a top class defensive midfield player, like Appiah. Some positive news today Nicko would be greatly appreciated

The current set-up at Rovers would never secure Appiah in a million years. He's far too good.

Conversely, what about the profits we make on them? We contract them to give us a service, and if we sell them for a good profit is that not good business though? Personally, I'd rather all our good players stay and our pesh ones go, but that would be too simplistic and although good football-wise the business aspect of the game cannot be ignored.

It's not always one-sided in the players favour; there's also times players get sold against their wishes to cash in too? I'd suggest it's all down to the gamble of taking players, and seeing them appreciate in value-that's hell of a legacy Hughes left us BTW.

That is all good and well and I can see it makes business sense, but I just worry about the quality that comes in to replaces these guys.

Svein Mathisen just said it was rejected. he will not confirm any size of the bid, and says that the 2m people are throwing around is only agents talking. Thats the official statement. nicko may know more though.

He won't confirm the size of the bid...but it's not £2 million...thought you said he always told the truth... ;)

Racing Santander are quite rich just now because they sold Duscher to Sevilla and want a replacement. They are NOT in Europe [i believe] so they are OK about Annan playing tomorrow night.

Arsenal now have to come up with a similar sum which is putting Wenger on the spot. He needs to get this done before tomorrow's game in my view.

Now that Annan is 'flavour of the month' I bet there will be lots more at that game as well.

Again I am getting fed up with all this talk of Warnock leaving as Ince's fault. Warnock publicly came out and said he was happy here and then a few days before the season comes out and hands in a transfer request. It just goes to show that all players are after is the loyalty of clubs moolah and not willing to offer anything in return from themselves. What have newcastle shown this preseason that should show they will be better than last year?

Ince's fault does not mean Ince slapped Stephen across the face. It just means that some players dont see the potential of growth here, and that partly might come down to the new man not motivating them, the training, the potential signings, money, etc...

It just means Ince DOESNT have a strong grip around the club. At least not yet...

.

he have not lied yet... he have not said "its not 2m" he have said "no comment". then he have been asked about the 2m value, and he replied "we have no value on him. we want as much as possible, and hopefully a bunch of clubs will bid. the 2m value you are talking about is just agents talking".

even if the bid is indeed 2m, i dont see where he have lied.

For those of you who say Newcastle need to raise funds for buys, that is not true. Recent interview with Mike Ashley confirmed that the money is available for any signing that Keegan wants, but he stated that they would be paying over the odds for anyone. Keegan decides what is over the odds.

Mike Ashley used to sit with the fans but I bet he's scared of doing that now. You're joining City - KICK ON THE TICK squad - mate unless you can find another mug to pay for your Saturday entertainment. Or you'd have paid up for Warnock already.

Final thought.

How can that fool Scudamore talk about fit and proper people tests at Man City?

This idiot allowed the SAME people to run rings round him at West Ham when they signed Tevez and Mascherano and lied to him...

Paul Aldridge is now at City and was at West Ham...Kia Joorabchian now does their negotiating...

And we are to expect that this muppet Scudamore can decide on such an important issue?

On Kochesky - He is not as good as Warnock and Zurab is a better left back. Oooohhhhhhh.....

When it comes to Scudamore I am with Dave Whelan.

Not at this stage.

Some thoughts:

Well as a Blackburn supporter this City thing is the only thing currently cheering me up. At least City have paid up front for Hughes £5m compensation. Just as long as there isn't a payback clause if he returns within three months. Could be a tidy £5m profit here for nowt.

The Premiership are partly to blame on this as their ethics stink. 'He hasn't been convicted of anything yet policy.' could have seen The Yorkshire Ripper in charge of a club while he was waiting trial. Oh hang on though - he didn't do a runner abroad from justice did he?

Surely 'fit and proper' means they should have the ethics to make someone stand down until cleared. For heavens sake these people are in effect in charge of peoples lives money, communities, kids, UK history even, etc.

How many Heads of Schools would be in post if they faced these sort of charges! Even the most bonkers Local Authority would suspend them pending an investigation.

Maybe Nick Leeson is a better comparison - oh he was sent back to face the music wasn't he.

On Kochesky - He is not as good as Warnock and Zurab is a better left back. Oooohhhhhhh.....

On Dave Whelan, Worked there - While he was on holiday in Barbados he rang up JJB Canteen and stopped the crusts being used on toast - it had to be used for bread and butter pudding. Interesting man.

I'm not arguing that their ethics stink but what more can they do?

If they were to denounce Frank unfit to run a club without before he's been convicted of anything they'd be fighting a libel lawsuit from Frank on one hand, calls for Abramovic to be declared unfit on the other.

It stinks but a line has to be drawn somewhere.

Have we had a look at Tiago.

Juventus are believed to be willing to allow Tiago to move to England on loan with Newcastle United bidding to fend off rival interest from Everton to land the ex-Chelsea midfielder.

SETANTA - Tiago closes on Premier League return

I'm sure he was in some sort of dispute with Juve, but i've got to go into a meeting so no time to look for a link.

Ince - has to move soon to quell the quitters (us included). At the moment the gallows are half built and he's building them himself. Has he ever got over the impression we are nothing but a 'tuppeny club'?

By my reckoning 6 of the first team squad seem to want out or have left. Something is wrong.

Ince's supporters are saying 3 main things on here to keep us cheered up but I'm now wavering myself.

1. Give him time - you don't get that in the Premiership - sorry.

2. He'll pick up the scouting and transfer level. He'll have to do it now as all of our quality players are under threat. The signings must be impressive and quick or we'll be bottom at Christmas. In fact I would go as far as saying if we had NO scouting after Hughes left and Ince has only lower division contacts then he was/is the wrong man for the job in the first place.

3. We haven't kicked a ball yet (I'm in that group!). Well we have but it starts for real Saturday. Here's hoping.

2 similar managers to consider

- Sammy Macilroy at Morecambe, couldn't get anything right below league 2 but did well in the Conference and OK in League 2. It's a huge gulf in standards.

- Paul Jewell - At Wigan, For nearly 12 months most of the Players at Wigan wouldn't speak to him and wanted out. Great success by sticking to his guns.

We await results.

Is anyone else clock watching or is it just me? Is it 76 hrs an 15 mins to kick off?

There is no line. He should be suspended pending investigation.

That's a pretty big assumption on your part though isn't it? Bentley and Friedel are two, Warnock it seems is the third but where do the other 3 come from?

Axe has a transfer in, Zurab has asked to leave and and and wait for it RSC has been making noises about going to KICK ON THE TICK. Apparently Samba has been 'tapped' too - make that 7.

Facts? Or what you've read in roundabout terms? I've certainly not seen anything that suggests your first two claims, not even as rumours. Hope you can prove the former though.

Seriously so you believe everything you read? Who care about Moko anyway most people want to see him leave and he has been barking long before Ince was here (remember when he talked about his dream to play for Rangers etc).

I haven't heard about Zurab wanting to leave. I thought someone suggested Ince wanted to sell him (different thing all together) but since he came out with his 100% no more sales comment I can't see that happening.

I have yet to see ANY evidence that RSC wants to leave, in fact he's been one of the only players to come out and get behind the manager (remember the RSC going nowhere stories last week when his brother signed?). Just because a player is being linked away doesn't mean that he personally WANTS away, it just means we've got a very good player that other admire.

Samba, tribalfootball by any chance. Some people really need to wait to see what ACTUALLY happens rather than rely on all these so called rumours about mass unrest. Obviously something's not right but some people are making mountains out of mole hills I feel.

Didnt Axe put in his request when Hughes was in charge?

By my reckoning that is Axe, Ooijer, Samba, Bentley, Roberts, McCarthy and Brad that wanted to leave when we had Hughes at the end of the season,

So the two players that have left so far put in transfer requests when Hughes was manager- how can Ince be blamed for this?
