Me too. Deadline day is always frustrating, as other clubs pull off an intruiging signing and we end up saving all our efforts for Jay Bothroyd, if we do actually sign anyone. Surely the buying club has the incentive not to leave it so late. If the money situation at Citeh is so bad, and things pan out as people expect, Citeh will have an interesting Janurary.

I usually find it better to count to ten when I am fuming...in this case it's about a million.

How any newspapers or TV stations can fall for the Roque story is beyond me. It is blatant propaganda from a club which is on the rocks because of their problems.

City employ a couple of spin doctors who brief the media to make it sound like everything is wonderful.

Remember Ronaldinho? Where is he?

The Sun ran a 'Hughes quits' story and then cosies in by taking the City-Roque 'bid' seriously.

The Independent's man is close to Joorabchian and his people who also want to make sound City like a force.

Quite pleased with the Spurs Corluka row story in the Mirror today...check that out to see what is REALLY happening.

And, by the way, City will sell one of their top players shortly to bid for a striker...but it will take more than that to buy Roque.

It is laughable.

Another interesting point is that sky have this morning been interviewing Hughes about their next Euro game - yet city are supposed to have made a bid last night - if the bid was true why not ask him about it during the interview.

Surely, as we have Olsson as promising back-up, to further the left back position we should be signing a utility man who can play in a few positions.

It makes little sense to have a specialist left back on the bench because it limits the manager's sub options.

At least, Olsson, with his pace, can offer something at left wing, as well as left back - which Konchesky cannot (despite what P'rhaps Curbishley thought).

Makes no sense to spend big on Konchesky. Hope it doesn't happen.

Not true, last five games of the season Roberts led the line and Cruz played either out on the right or in the withdrawn role behind Roberts. It worked well.

Roque isn't a target man. He is a skillful player who likes to be running towrads the goal and dropping deep. He is excellent at it! If we could get rid of Benni and bring in a quality man to hold the ball up and get physical it would be a major benefit however we play.

Sorry my mistake just looked back at last five games.

Although it didn't work too well in the first half against Derby (Roberts finishing was terrible) and away to Brum.

That's Bolton isn't it? Can't remember the last person we signed that met that criteria (Fowler excluded). I suppose Benni Mac comes the nearest but I wouldn't say we have a reputation for it. I would say we have a better rep for uncovering hidden gems but then that was under Hughes....

A rewarding game - if you know how to play it. Reading this thread I think Rovers ought to get up to speed on it pretty quickly. ;)

"Various Manchester City officials have been advised on a number of occasions that the player would not be for sale.

"We are very disappointed, therefore, that they have continued their interest."

That's the first time that Rovers are startingto sound PI$$ED off! I hope they start puffing out there chest a bit more and make a few more NOT FOR SALE noises - then it my sink in to other clubs/journos!

I can understand why you say that.

However you do have players who are wanted by other clubs. Take that as a compliment. I can think of some clubs have have NONE.

But you have just banked a lot of money and have no need to sell - unless players stamp their feet and demand to go.

What concerns me is that your squad is two, three or even four players short. That is more cause for worry right now.

It could be happening, but I've not heard it. Agreed, could do better.

I have thought for awhile that Ince wants the current squad to play a few games - including bringing in the younger players - to see what he really has as a squad - then he will buy if he feels he needs too. It is possible that at this moment in time he feels the squad is good enough and he is giving the younger players a chance first.

Official repsonse..

"A bid came in last night and it was immediately laughed at rejected.

Various Manchester City officials have been advised on a number of occasions that the player would not be for sale.

We Are very disapointed, therefore, that they have continued their interest.

However, we would like to wish the Human Rights Abuser, his fraudulant wife, their duluded Welsh manager and their council house stadium the best of luck"

I'd be very suprised if Newcastle were thinking about selling Milner. But if someone is stupid enough to offer £9m, then it's maybe too good to refuse.

Being a Newcastle fan, and listening to Milner speak on interviews with the official website over the past couple of days, I reckon the story is complete tosh to be honest.

Hmmmm! Could that be what Ince has in mind for Andrews?

Nicko, the club have confirmed that City have bid for RSc and that it was turned down.

You missed that one didn't you ;)

To be fair, I think that while Nicko didn't accept that City made a bid, the truth is that this was City using the media to tell everyone that they still have money. They made the bid, then immediately went to the media.

Very, very poor way of conducting business. Hughes didn't work that way at Ewood, - is he getting rattled and desperate to make some kind of impression? I think he is.

Here's hoping Roque won't do a Bentley on us now the City bid is officially published on rovers website: "After City came in I cound't eat or sleep, my mates are all City fans" blabla sulk sulk :glare:

Maybe the bid was for his brother!

Interesting insight into the machinations of the media.

Couldn't find the Mirror Corluka article referred to BTW, if anyone has a link I'd be interested to read it.

My question:

Would Hughes, to your knowledge, agree to sell any City players to Rovers, independently of any deal he might wish to strike regarding Santa Cruz?
