and subtracting the 500k for Mr Pineapple?

£3.5 million. We can't simply subtract the loan amount, if we choose the keep him then the fee has to come out of this years budget. If we decide not to then the money will probably go on someone else, but we can't simply put that down as £500k.

Nicko any headway on who else is on the right wing shortlist, other than Pennant?

Is Lennon even on it?

Also, any update on Osorio or Ochs?

No new names anyway...if Lennon was on the hit list he would have been in the Bentley deal...and no further news on the right backs.

£6 million approx clear from the Bentley sale...working on the 50 per cent sell-on over profit.

Shouldnt the 3million we originally paid for bentley be included here as we have got that back in the 15million!?!?!?

add all this to the 10million that was supposed to be available to hughes & that makes 23 million! now id be excited if we spent that wisely!!

Hi Nicko - can you tell me when King Carlos will be unveiled at Ewood - I'm very bored and would look forward to going down to Ewood to say hello to him!

Rovers must be waiting for the work permit to arrive before annoucing the signing of Carlos. Unless they are waiting till we sign our big signing, then parade him with him as well!!!!

Mark Hughes said about March that he had been given a kitty...he was happy with it at the time...perhaps he was lying which is possible but unlike him.

If there was no kitty - that is a disgrace. Was he misled? Is that why he left? And WHY would there have been no money.

As we speak apart from that 'kitty' there is:

£4.6 million compo from Man City less £2 million max compo paid to MK Dons for Ince...so that is a further £2.6 million-ish.

£3 million allegedly from the trustees.

£6 million approx clear from the Bentley sale...working on the 50 per cent sell-on over profit.

Less £1 million approx from the Friedel out - Robinson in transfers, possibly even less based on the size of Robinson's contract.

Round figures I know, but that should be £10 million-plus.

And this does not include TV money...and any surplus that may bring.

Add the 'Mark Hughes kitty' and you have the total

OK, that adds up to £10m+ on top of an unknown kitty available to Hughes previously. It's still a lot of guesswork though, but I accept what you say.

While we're talking money, from the Lancs Telegraph:-

"Rovers are believed to be banking an initial £15 million for the England international, with future add-ons tied into the deal."

Now that's saying there is NO sell on clause. True or false?

If there had been no clause JW would have said so. The fact that he said it was "confidential" we can safely deduce from that there was a clause and its not on the low side of 10-15%, which would not have been much of an issue to admit...

We might have this money but i very much doubt the board will be giving all the money to Ince straight away anyway, i think they will be holding onto to fair chunk of the money untill January and then see what position the club is then before letting Ince splashing it all in this transfer window.

Williams' quitness on teh situation could mean any number of things from the %ge being ridiculous and we don't want to look like a laughing stock or the percentage being quite low and we don't want people to know how much money we have.

If it is the latter than we will be in a much better position everybody thinking we have only pocketed £7m when we try and negotiate a replacement.

John Williams job is to run this football club in the best way possible and that sometimes means not telling the fans everything if it harms us in the trasfer market for example.

Personally i would look to bring in a defensive midfielder and a right winger first and if we have enough money left over look at a right back.

Emerton can do a job there and he isn't as bad as some fans believe. I don't see right back as being an area we have to improve straight away and certainly not a area we should be blowing most of our budget on.

Way too much wishful thinking and psychological input when the answer is a bit simpler...

I must have missed JW's comments. Any links to them please?

The smart thing to do, IMO.

Just have to get a right back now.

Hey, Nicko I read your snippet of last night's game. I heard Robinson was unlucky with that deflected shot and actually made a fine tip-over later on... but you neglected to mention that, eh? :P

We have been chasing a right back and at least one midfielder all summer, so regardless of the bentley sale money is available for those purchases which means there is a kitty and money for Bentley's replacement should be taken from his sale so as to not effect other targets.

Guesswork?

The Sun's story/confirmation about the sell-on clause comes from the paper that Bentley writes for...I can only presume they checked with him.
