Majiball Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 I find it amazing that the majority who slammed the article couldn't actually be bothered to go the the match. I did, and I read Nicko's report and thought it was a fair assessment. Too many people have missed the point he was making - That a goalkeeper who has been dogged by misfortune in recent times should be beaten by a deflected shot, on his debut, before he had a save to make. Nicko then went on to mention the brilliant save he made shortly afterwards. As far as I'm concerned it was an accurate report of a match I watched. I really don't understand why people have turned on Nicko in the way they have over a cleverly written match report. I suspect some have become overly jealous of his popularity on this messageboard and look for any excuse to have a go. Here Here

roverfanuk Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 As far as im concerned, Robbo can conceed as many goals as he likes! For what he said the other day on RoversWorld, he will always be a Rovers legend in my eyes! Very refreshing as its been years since someone has said something nice about Rovers...

Its not been that long since we'd regularly hear Bentley saying plenty of nice things about our club.

RevidgeBlue Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Yes but the fact is despite Robinson making a save to help us win a match(albeit a friendly) The angle chosen was one of the calamity keeper strikes again. Exactly. Nicko's sources that are Rovers related are obviously first class. Unfortunately since someone else beat him to the story in the Mirror about Ince's likely appointment, all his stories have had an anti Ince slant. "Didn't turn up in Wales" - not reported elsewhere, probably because it was irrelevant. "Friedel doesn't want to leave - most strange" (i.e. Must be Ince chucking him out) On Fowler: "I thought I'd seen it all - still shaking half an hour after" For what turns out to be merely a trial. On Andrews: "My mates tell me it's a done deal" "He thinks he's coming" Cue much anti Ince hysteria. On Warnock: "This keeps rumbling on" Cue more anti Ince hysteria.
roverfanuk Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 may i ask, is that sarcasm? Nope... Don't you dare try to get me into trouble! I liked what he said about wanting to spend his career at Rovers, regardless of whether he's in the England squad or not!

Thats down to peoples reactions not down to what nicko's posted. He's just passing on information that he'd heard. And he'd already responded to the Friedel thing, at no point did he say Ince wanted him out either. Andrews has been touted by quite a few others with links to either MK Dons or Rovers. And by the sounds of it the Warnock story is rumbling on and on, the rest of the press keep reporting it too.
roverfanuk Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Excellent: http://www.football.co.uk/blackburn_rovers...rs_268822.shtml
TugaysMarlboro Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Nope... Don't you dare try to get me into trouble! I liked what he said about wanting to spend his career at Rovers, regardless of whether he's in the England squad or not! Maybe so, but everyone will say good things about a club they've just moved too - i'm not trying to put a bad slant on this, we've seen enough of that for a while! I'm happy he's come I was one spending countless posts defending him with people posting videos of him making mistakes saying he's a calamity and all that. I just think the legend status is abit much..........and he can't concede all the goals he wants!! jeez roversfan, don't tell him that! He'll have a field day .
tony gale's mic Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Excellent: http://www.football.co.uk/blackburn_rovers...rs_268822.shtml There's nothing in there that suggests he was cooling the rumours....
cn_barlow Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 This thread needs cleaning up! i dont think its just this thread. Might just be me who thinks this but recently there seems to be an aweful lot of members who are doing a hell of a lot of posting without actually contributing anything. If you aren't going to contribute anything and are here simpy to bicker and get one over on other posters then what is the point? might as well bugger off and do us all a favour... I see your hiatus was rather short lived Mr BuckyRover.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Sick of the sniping on this thread and people who deliberately post insulting crap in order to provoke a reaction or cause trouble. I’ve noticed that’s its some of the older posters who seem to be the ones who keep trying to start some sort form of a ‘flamewar’. Perhaps they feel Nicko is a threat to their E-peens or their online ego’s as they aren’t the centre of attention. Its pathetic and ridiculous.
Ste B Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 I'm not sure how many times it needs to be said.. but if people can't play nicely on these threads. Then theres one answer, I don't see why any mod should have to police this, or try and delete any posts to tidy things up. As i've put on ask admin, surprisingly its newer members behind most of the trouble. IMHO only ParsonBlues and RevidgeBlues posts are worth keeping. CLOSING thread
PLZ Blue Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Are we live again?? Come back Nicko!!! The playground has been opened!
Paulsman Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Kevin Keegan has told Spanish press that he hopes to complete a signing in the next 24 hours. Warnock?
BiggusLaddus Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Kevin Keegan has told Spanish press that he hopes to complete a signing in the next 24 hours. Warnock? Yes I'm sure that Kevin Keegan has been chatting to the Spanish press about an English player they have probably never heard of. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabricio_Coloccini
novella Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 in the interest of warnock i see he's linked to everton now..... i would say that is a bit more worrying than newcastle.
hawkiiz Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 i'll try my luck here. is villanueva ready to play against wolves tomorrow? any news on injured people, or are everyone ok?
imy9 Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Seeing as this is Nicko's thread and questions are to be asked, I will ask a few: 1. Is Andrews likely to be a signing considering MK have announced he is staying? 2. Any other right backs of interest for us? 3. Any progress on a right winger?
EwoodGlory Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Yes I'm sure that Kevin Keegan has been chatting to the Spanish press about an English player they have probably never heard of. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabricio_Coloccini I have heard from someone close to the club that Coloccini has already agreed personal terms, but as of last night, they were still trying to agree a fee between the clubs. Newcastle are in Spain now for a tour in Mallorca, so hopefully they are sorting that out and it is not Warnock.
AJW Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 what are your thoughts on diaby at arsenal? we have not been linked with him (from memory) but would seem to fit the description of the type of midfeilder nicko said we were looking at e.g castillo , strong, powerful, athletic, scores the odd goal , still quite young , not a guaranteed starter at arsenal and got PL experience????
Roar of the Rover Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 what are your thoughts on daiby at arsenal? we have not been linked with him (from memory) but would seem to fit the description of the type of midfeilder nicko said we were looking at e.g castillo , strong, powerful, athletic, scores the odd goal , still quite young , not a guaranteed starter at arsenal and got PL experience???? Don't think Arsenal will sell him. They have just sold Flamini and Gilberto. He may well be a starter next season if not possibly a back up. No chance Wenger will sell him unless Arsenal bring in 2 defensive midfielders, which is unlikely.
Hughesy Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Denilson is the better young midfielder they have. That Carlos Vela fella looks quite handy, shame they wouldnt loan him out!! Nicko - Any news for us? Or have you fallen out with this board??
Rover down South Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Denilson is the better young midfielder they have. That Carlos Vela fella looks quite handy, shame they wouldnt loan him out!! Nicko - Any news for us? Or have you fallen out with this board?? I am sure Nicko will return soon. He wasn't aware the thread had been closed this morning. He was told & has now been informed of it re-opening. What we have to remember from now, is he has a job to do. The information he gives us, he does for free.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Let me get this right. It's an argument over a word, or words which cropped up in a match review of a game between our RESERVES and NORTHWICH VICTORIA. A game which was a FRIENDLY. Oh my god. It's funny how some posters try to cause arguments because of simple jealousy due to the fact that somebody else is connected. We have gone for years with our only "insiders" being people who gave us "my uncles dogs brother said" information. As soon as we get a very good source (and member), some people try and ruin it for everybody else.
