T4E Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Pretty sure it wasn't, I think the tramp hat game was also the caught speeding game, which was Leeds at home two days earlier.

alexanders Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 (Please don't use that word again)! This means it will be another hour before the news. In norway it's 12 you know.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 For those of you reminiscing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54FMU__LGI4 The FanZone had me in tears when the Fulham fan looked like he'd like nothing more than to take a swipe at the Rovers fan.
ffan Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Ah, watching Lara get 400 in the Windies then poping down to loftus road to sing "You'll Never Get a Passport!" I thought we were relegated at half time, sat next to the drummers (top blokes btw) but my headache didnt go for days. Tugs, wasnt that the "Tramp Hat" game? I'm just glad the game was atLoftus road and not at a decent ground like Cottage.
Majiball Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Are you sure he's coming? I heard from a reliable source he's not coming back!! PLEASE DISREGARD THE ABOVE POST IT IS IN NO WAY TO BE CONSIDERED FACTUAL.
hawkiiz Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 i agree with aleksanders. Annan is coming on monday. for 100% sure.
rovers1993 Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 nicko any update on when villanueva will be officially unvieled? will it be along with this new right back? you said that this won't be the only right back arrival, you got any names for the other ones at the moment? any news on the pennant situation? cheers.
nicko Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 The right back on his way is Danny Simpson, Manchester United's young reserve. He only found out today - it is a bit out of nowhere as Rovers have been scouting other, more senior players. Simpson is a pretty good prospect, spent time at Ipswich on loan last season...and is due to join Rovers on loan on Monday. I suspect this is related to Eric Steele, the new goalkeeping coach, joining Man U. I believe Fergie has given Rovers Simpson as a form of compensation. That's why it is odd. I would have to say it is a big leap for Simpson, but he is a decent player. Whether he is the anser or not will only be found out in time...that's why I have a feeling that another right back will sign. It does seem a bit odd tos see that after selling Bentley Rovers are now about to take a player on loan - even if it could turn out to be a full-time move in time. Anyway, that's it...I'm puffed...will answer any questions on this in the morning. But I think those details should be enough.
bennyboyt11 Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Simpson gets good on Football Manager... If only FM was a 100% accurate prediction tool!
Majiball Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Knew it was eboue or Simpson, mixed reports on Simpson but hey even if he's cover a RB its another body I assume united are picking up the tab. Does this mean for definite that Steele is gone, he was a shrewd signing by Ince? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Simpson
RovertheHill Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 ''Amo, pass me a butter knife mate...'' Thank you (and Toogs and Roversmum) for the best laugh on this site for ages for what should be an award winning Amoruso tribute
Bobby G Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Hmm maybe Ince feels that we are short on cover on the right side as he isnt convinced with Reid and that we will sign a more senior member, or maybe Emerton might play there and Simpson deputises and we sign a senior right winger... This doesnt make much sense to me.
Rainmaker Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 This doesnt make much sense to me. Not to me either. Why would we take a ManUre reserve on loan? With no option to buy?
Martin Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 This doesnt make much sense to me. Seconded. I think Fergie is taking young Ince for a ride. We'll have your coach and you can have a right back who's not quite up to it (yet). So this is a loan then??
JamieUK Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 If he's anything like the last young player we signed on loan from a top 4 club then surely we cant complain?! Well maybe we can in 3/4 years when he decides he wants to play for Spurs...! Good move for me - obviously a lot better than any young right backs we have already. I suspect we'll go on to sign an out and out right winger and flit between playing Emerton / Simpson at full back.
davea Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Not to me either. Why would we take a ManUre reserve on loan? With no option to buy? If we are not buying a right back, hopefully they are saving the money to spend a lot on a very good midfielder, i am probably just dreaming though
Bobby G Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 If we are not buying a right back, hopefully they are saving the money to spend a lot on a very good midfielder, i am probably just dreaming though This makes more sense than you think as I didnt think we could afford to sign a right back and a right winger. Looks like we prefer to sign a right winger and possibly keep Emerton at right back, which I dont see as the worst thing.
vintageadidas Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 What message is this sending to our players, fans and the outside world. A goalkeeping coach arrives at the club and then leaves 3 weeks later.......crazy. Bentley gone, Brad gone, Hughes gone.....all the backroom staff gone......our new signing is ill .......it gets better and better. Danny Simpson is decent, but no way first choice.
JAL Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 If we are not buying a right back, hopefully they are saving the money to spend a lot on a very good midfielder, i am probably just dreaming though The reality is Rovers are playing a very dangerous game ?
hawkiiz Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 i hope ince is more informed than me... we have ooijer, zurab and emerton on RB. all decent. right? so we lose our GK coach, who just days ago said he was looking forward to meeting paul robinson? and we get a man utd reserve on loan??? what is going on? i thought ince was looking for a specialist (super) right back, as we already have ok people there... if anything this must mean we will sign some excellent CM or RW, right???
Mozzer Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 maybe its a loan move with a view to a transfer..what have we to lose on getting a young man utd player on loan?? nothing..if he does well-we try buy him, if he doesnt we dont buy him... hes looked pretty good when i seen him-especially the attacking side of his game.. people really need to stop being all doom and gloom..
Hughesy Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Maybe all the money is going on 2 top centre midfielders - afterall if that was strengthened alot then we would already be a much better side on last year. Simpson is a good prospect for the future, im sure the way Nicko was talking that it wont end up as just a loan.
Majiball Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Ok yes we have Ooijer the monk and Emo, but now we have a true Right Back yes he's young, but he helped sunderland get in the prem and did well at Ipswich. We now have greater squad depth in that department, regardless of whether we sign one or not. If he's coming then I assume as compo for Steele I reckon its safe to guess he will cost us nothing, now we just need a GK coach!
rebelmswar Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Just signed up and this is my first posting so Ill try my best. Nicko. For a man like me who lives in Sussex, your a breath of fresh air. Reminds of the days when I frequented Cavensish every Month from the South and someone once told me JW was buying Rovers in 89...Takes me back....Gossip. I love it. Watched You tube on the Chilean lad. Bags of quality but Premiers gonna be hard. Hell be in my FFLT though! The guys I work with in town say wed be better going with Allardyce etc. **** that. Rovers do not punch above their weight by not taking a gamble now and then. Lets face it, Allardyce etc, we know what we were gonna get and that is mediocrity. Ince is a new era...yes its the unknown. People say we were mad to sell Friedel. When he came to Rovers, did he not have a reputation a bit like Robbo has now. If you put that down to a lack of confidence, sort the Crosses out, we may have a bargain. Midfield looks a problem. You posted a message about Benni's body language which frankly if he was in the FA Cup final I still think would show. He's not interested! A lot of people I know through years of friendship love rovers but they continually tell me they worry for us this year. If you can do something about that Nicko, you truly are a legend. First time I've had to do that though.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 It'll be in tomorrow's Mirror that he's got the plague ...... Given to him by Ince................... (Joke, before nicko has another thrombo) Excellent scoop on the Simpson situation. Strange move as nicko said.
