I am hoping that JW's last comment on our top target of a defensive midfielder is spot on.. but I can't for the life of me think of one top draw defensive midfielder out there who would be available.

Have you heard anything on who they would be looking at for those last few positions (RW/Def Mid/Att Mid) yet Nicko?

Prof mate chill.. I heard that simpson is a good player.. since when do you get huge compensation for a goalkeeping coach anyway.. at least Ince seems to of got the best from this deal... especially with so many people rating the young lad.

Given we have lost a good rw.. and dont really have a good defensive mid, saving the cash for these positions to me is a very sound move!!

Yes - you're right - probably overreacted a bit eh? No one at Ewood anyway. Getting the Valium now.

I suppose really it shows Ince was right to appoint Steele anyway as he must be very highly regarded.

I'll be wrecked by the time the season starts!

Simpson may be the answer. OK, it's come out of the blue - a bit. But that happens. Osorio was not playing for Stuttgart when they went to watch him, maybe they are not sure on Ochs. Possibly they will end up signing TWO...right now it is a very changing scene.

As for the fine print of the deal, I am told it is a loan with a possibility of a buy - as for lenghts of the loan, no idea. I would presume the full season.

I saw Osorio via means I shall not mention he did not really stand out.

This might actually be another shrewd move by Ince? Do you know what value this chap has and was Roy Keane interested in buying him after Simpson spent the 2007 season at Sunderland?

Yes Keane wanted both him and Evans when they got promoted, Fergie said no as he wanted them training with the first team.

Nicko, where have you heard about Steele to Manchester United?

Only place I have read this is Manchester Evening News and they are guessing.

I can't say for obvious reasons - but it's from two reliable sources. It's just a matter of when it goes through.

I agree I have heard very good things about this right back and he has looked impressive when I have seen him play. From what I read in the Mirror this morning the loan deal includes 2.5mil permenant deal if he impresses

Not having a pop at Ince or anybody really but how many player thrive after being released by RFW? (especially for £2.5m) Old whiskey nose clearly dosn't rate Simpson and no matter what you think of the old **** he knows a player.

I agree. Two top signings there added to a decent young right back and an exciting attacking midfielder and an England international keeper would represent not the worst of summers.

Do you think Ince will have a cheeky word in Mimms ear today at Molineux??? He's done well with Henessey.

Surprised Steele is going yes I know its United but he made Robbo and surely played a big part in getting him here, I hope Robbo's not too ###### off by Steele leaving. Steele's replacement is gonna have a curcial role this year he has to get Robbo back on form and in top condition, he will probably also need to be a top motivator, just in case.

No more to tell you on Simpson - apart from the fact that Fergie pulled him yesterday to tell him he was going to Blackburn. Thats about as official as it gets.

He is a tidy player, but I'm just surprised that Rovers scouted right backs far and wide and ended up getting one on the doorstep this way.

Anyway, transfer chases often work out like that.

Leeds once tried to buy Denis Irwin and Man U ended up getting Cantona instead...

nicko At this moment in time exactly what is the situation with Villanueva ?. Are we anywhere clearer on a replacement for Bentley ?.At the moment it looks like we are going nowhere fast !.

Robbie Savage might beg to differ.

Well Sav is one and it could be argued that Stam and Van Horseface havn't done too badly. That being said Fergie must have released literally hundreds of players over the last 20 years and young ones dont go if they are any good.

Yes indeed he does, but he's also a master of Psych warfair, by doing this sending simpson to us he could just be saying to him, right son you've not come on as I'd hoped go to rovers good team, prove me wrong this year, its your chance to show me you can cut it at this level. Fergie does have brown and Neville at RB and Simpsons not at those standards yet (hopefully). With us he should get games lets just hope if he plays at Everton he does better than his last game againast them.

I thought there are about 5 ex manu youngsters in current premier league first team squads.. Higginbotham, Richardson, Greening spring to mind as recent ones and they are not awful players..

Not that Amoroso scored but the fact that the useless twoddle Jon Stead scored the winner.

Good grief! You can't say that on here Ffan! :o Some of our (umm 'less cerebral' shall we say and leave it at that) members are still wearing black armbands from when Hughes ditched him!

lorenzobook01.jpg:P

Dunno if thats Sabu or Sinbad but I dont rem either wearing Doc Martins whilst they wrestled tigers and stuff.

I suspect this is related to Eric Steele, the new goalkeeping coach, joining Man U.

I believe Fergie has given Rovers Simpson as a form of compensation.

I'd heard Steele might be off but I didn't know it had happened already! Welcome to Blackburn Revolvingdoorers FC! Christ Almighty we are now the Premier Leagues doormat club.

Waiting for Nicko to be up and to tell us exactly whats happened with Simpson and whats behind the thinking there. Also do you have any news about Carlos the Pineapple? Is this bout of chicken pox a potential deal ender? Otherwise why dont we confirm it? :(

There is something that does not quite fit on this situation........He has a medical on Wednesday and is said to have passed that OK; then on Thursday(?) he goes down with Chicken Pox!! How can that be? There must have been some symptoms on Wednesday if that's true. What is going on?

I thought the recent "rule" revision had made it that Away Fans can't come on here any more specifically to ask non-Rovers related questions. Am I wrong?

Two loan signings- is that our limit as an EPL club?

On the one hand it's appalling....... on the other I'm thinking that this may be a good way forward. After Hughes/Brad/Bentley its obvious that contracts only work one way. If the players are any good they are off asap, if they are crap they stick to BRFC like sh1t to a blanket till the very end. Loan signings can still bguuger off of course but at least if the are rubbish we can get rid immedietely with no legal consequences. Also if the break a leg who cares?

It's obvious to all that we are now nothing more than a nursery club for the top half of the Prem so half a dozen 'loanees' might fit in well.
