On the one hand it's appalling....... on the other I'm thinking that this may be a good way forward. After Hughes/Brad/Bentley its obvious that contracts only work one way. If the players are any good they are off asap, if they are crap they stick to BRFC like sh1t to a blanket till the very end. Loan signings can still bguuger off of course but at least if the are rubbish we can get rid immedietely with no legal consequences. Also if the break a leg who cares?

Its a system much more used on the continent especially Italy, you pay a small fee if he cuts the mustard you buy him if not send him packing. Perhaps ince feels we don't take advantage of it enough over here.

Great to be back from holiday and nice to see A Nixon is still around.

Plenty of changes, glad to see the back of big time bentley the spurs bench warmer

Don't be so bitter.

1. It's no disgrace being beaten by a bigger club and the media.

2. It's never good in my book to see a top drawer player leave and even worse to see a poorer one replace him.

Five players named within two posts and not a decent one amongst them. I think that sort of illustrates my point but I have a feeling that we will have to agree to dissagree on this one.

How about Paul Ince and Mark Hughes then? Both were shown the door by RFW and went on to big European clubs very sucessfully.

Don't forget Rossi and Gerard Pique.

Rossi played a big part in Villareal finishing second, Pique plays for Barca.

Sorry mate both those players are more than good enough for our first team TBH. There's a hell of a leap between being a united first teamer and a Rovers one.

Well briefly just want to say I'm very happy Villanueva has been confirmed, great work nicko on breaking that story so early.

I'm happy with Danny Simpson, most likely going to be a year long loan so we get to have a good look at him, hopefully there is some option to buy in there otherwise it doesn't help for the long term. He looks quick though and a good player. If worst comes to worst and he doesn't perform then Bert can go back there and were no worse off than last season in that position.

We also get to save the money of any transfer deal on a holding midfielder/right midfielder.

Not seen anything confirmed about Eric Steele leaving just yet so let's wait and see.

The Barcodes hardly broke their necks to sign Rossi after he had been on loan there and I dont think Pique has managed a 1st team appearance yet.

Fife Rover mentions Hughes and Ince as players who were successes after being shown the door at Utd. I would say that both had their best years behind them and were let go when Fegie believed they had outlived their usefullness. Neither went on to win a championship.

My point is that Ferguson rarely lets a player who goes on to better things and I'am sceptical about Simpson as Fergie is no friend of Rovers and £2.5m is small beer in today's transfer market.

Possibly not the place to debate this but I'm sticking to my guns!

Pique made his debut for RedScum aged 17 and between 2004 and 2008 started 12 games as well as playing 22 games during a season loan at Real Zaragoza. Also, Barcelona dont spend £6mil on a no hoper do they.

Nicko,

The BBC article on Villanueva signing for us states that Castillo will also be joinging up with the squad on Monday with a view to completing a deal before the start of the season.

Any truth in that? Was he held up for work permit issues or something?

The BBC have got that one completely wrong. Not only do the writers not follow what is happening but the editorial staff appear to be clueless as well.

Bit of a strange one, could well be that BBC have their facts wrong but they did earlier post an article saying that Castillo would no longer be coming, so could just be a case of the deal being back on.

Maybe Ince wasn't too sure and sent him back while he looked at other targets and it turns out this is the best available?

Or like you said, could have just fell under the radar and the deal was still on the whole time, just waiting for work permit issues to be resolved.

Nicko can you shed any light on this? The article regarding Villanueva and Castillo

Sure I read in the Telegraph this morning that Ince said because he only got two days with Castillo he couldn't offer him a deal. Apparently he did say that the lad could come back for a full week's trial whenever he wanted and has left it at that.

So it's not a 'no', but isn't a 'yes' either.

Well after the jet lag has begun to wear me down I have had a read at what has been said over the past 2 weeks. Plenty of different views and some nice words from some of the members about our resident hack.

My take is this.

Alan, good break with the Friedal move, something says to me that something has happened behind closed doors, I dont buy it from Brad that he simply got an offer he couldnt refuse, after all, alst season his words were BLACKBURN IS MY CLUB and that was the reason he signed his current deal.

Bentley, well as said earlier I am glad he has gone for the right money and it seems the money recieved will be put to good use. He will be public enemy number 1 with some Spurs fans, every Arsenal fan and quite a few Blackburn fans. He engineered his own move by opening his fat gob and he got what he deems to be the ideal move and no doubt a few extra bob in the sky rocket. For me Dave the rave, your a complete ar$e. Thanks for the memories and there are quite a few also thanks for the few quid you got us from the Spurs backers. YOU will be replaced by a better and probably brighter player.

You can enjoy scrapping for a midfield slot with the likes of Modric, Jenas and Lennon as well as the inordinate amount of other midfielders that Spurs have on board and I am sure you will obtain a shiny ar$e wiping the bench as you will NOT play every game, but at the end of the day BRFC do not want players like you, one moment you love playing for the club the next yr kissing the badge of your boyhood heroes ! Says it all for me, good riddance.

I heard about NUFC offering around £1.5m for Warnock, has Keegan gone completely mad or are they trying us for the fools that they are ?

Laughed around the pool reading the PHUKET GAZZETTE about Frankie and his missus's problems in their trials for corruption, City fans with us are at a loss at how their club has become almost faceless overnight !

Got totally bored with the Barry to LFC story, has it been sorted ?

Not surprised with the current cricket crisis with England.

Heard that CFC had bid for Robinho and Ronnie Mcdonald, did they sign either of them ?

Cried with laughter at Rangers inadequate effort at home in Europe, 0-0 with Kaunus means a surefire exit for such a massive club.

Got seriously drunk with a Dingle having been on the quad bikes into the land of Jurassic Park. Despite him having 6 fingers and webbed feet he proved a laugh and a giggle but still couldnt recall the last time he actually saw a Burnley win over Rovers !

Anyhow, I do believe that Jermain Pennant will be at Rovers sometime next week for a medical as a price of around £6.8m has been agreed, this from LFC supporters who we met in the Caribbean who had arrived on wednesday and claim to be close to him ! I dont know if this ever appeared in the media as the mirror group dont reach that far !!

As for Gordon, I accept your view mate but for me BENTLEY is not bigger or better than BRFC and if he thinks that Spurs are going to jump the top 4 he is as deluded as the yid backers and chaz and dave !
