Majiball Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Nicko, Incey claimed we haven't closed the door on the Castillo deal. Ince confirmed we were going to pay 5million euros for him. Do you know if he will be coming back for another trial? I thought someone posted that we'd made an open offer for a weeks trial if he wants it, personnally I like annan watched him during the africans nations looked very promising.

DeadlyDirk Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Haven`t heard this, have you a link? Ta! A link from the Blackburn Citizen Here Suggests that he had a very long flight and then weather conditions meant Ince didn't get a very good look at him so couldn't risk spending that much money on him without seeing him for longer. He's invited him for another trial whenever he's interested.
JohnS Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Nicko how bad was it against Wolves? Any new links? Alos will next week be the week, where panic buying starts to set in? Shorey seems on his way but to who? Will Gareth Barry ever go? Whats happened with Kaboul?

I find this one very puzzling indeed,Ince signs Villanueva on back of a few video clips without seeing him play in person(albeit on loan)and yet doesn`t do the same with Castillo?surely Ince must be able to get hold of some footage of Castillo playing, especially for Ecquador? What do you think happened here Nicko?Do you think Castillo may have a bit of a bad attitude or do you think Castillo didn`t look anywhere near good enough?

Roar of the Rover Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Haven`t heard this, have you a link? Ta! Link
T4E Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Link I would like to think that's true. If only because it presents Ince in a slightly more level headed manner than most of his other actions thus far.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Nicko - Where can a buy a cheap 4 pack of beans from? Here you go Jordan
bonerdude Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 is there an update tonight or has everything gone all quiet on the rovers front due to the second half collapse at wolves today????any news on dunny yet???
Kai Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 I don't know if it;s the usual BBC being idiots or maybe they really do know something that we don't, but read the very bottom bit and make up your own minds: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/7514549.stm Meanwhile, Equador's Segundo Castillo, 26, will link up with the Blackburn squad ahead of Monday's pre-season game with Hoffenheim in Germany. The Red Star Belgrade midfielder is set to complete his move to Ewood Park in time for the start of the season. (We've already been to Germany and played Hoffenheim!)
T4E Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 We've been making up our minds on that for the last 5 pages!
DingleBaiter Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Nicko, on a scale of 0 (no chance) to 10 (nailed on), is Simpson coming to Rovers or not? Didn't he play in Ole's game today? Would have thought if Taggart had told him he was going to Rovers, they'd probably rest him from a pre-season game knowing he was joining a new club two days later? Hope it's a certainty, he is an improvement by anyone's standards, but I guess time will tell. Especially given the machinations ref Steele moving on, or not, and other issues. On the Steele thing, is it not to Ince's credit that he had the noggin to recruit him? Surely it can't be blamed on Incey if Steele is being sniffed out by other clubs, none less than rednose - so it shows he was a creditable recruitment at least. Too much anti-Ince sentiment around, even before today's calamity.

Hughesy Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Ha ha dont tell me you believe that? According to that we are going to pay £3m for an oldham player? and also we paid £6m for Roque? Ha ha it was 3.5m, get it right.

FourLaneBlue Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I find this one very puzzling indeed,Ince signs Villanueva on back of a few video clips without seeing him play in person(albeit on loan)and yet doesn`t do the same with Castillo?surely Ince must be able to get hold of some footage of Castillo playing, especially for Ecquador? What do you think happened here Nicko?Do you think Castillo may have a bit of a bad attitude or do you think Castillo didn`t look anywhere near good enough? It does seem strange. Ince did see Castillo for a couple of days in Germany. Castillo said in the Ecuadorean press that everything relating to the deal had already been agreed before but then Ince wanted to change the pre-argreed details. All of which is fine but why was there no trouble in concluding the Villanueva deal? I´m wondering if the Castillo either was not a loan with a future option to buy - as nicko suggested could be the case for both but was not certain - but instead a straight transfer or if there was some late problems that cropped sorting out who-owns-who or who-needs-to-be-paid-by-who etc...It does seem strange how the younger, less experienced Villanueva transfer went through but the more established Castillo transfer collapsed. Or...maybe Villanueva´s You Tube highlights were just a lot more impressive! ...
nicko Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 SIMPSON - Danny boy was told by Sir Fergie on Friday that he was joining Rovers on Monday. Why lie to him? The fact he played yesterday is possibly Fergie's way of saying 'we will have you back, son,' or as in the case of Chris Eagles, 'here's a wee game for you, laddie, now run along.' STEELE - Followed up again today...he is going to Man U. I believe these subjects are related. CASTILLO - I understand the manager made his mind up on Castillo very quickly after seeing him. It wasn't a case of 'bad attitude.' I don't think he fancied him enough. If I was the player, sent back home with my tale between my legs, I would not be in a rush to return. I think that one is dead. SIGNINGS - I've got to say it's a bit chaotic right now...scouts all round Europe and one, possibly two, trialists in this week. Before you ask one of the trialists is a new name and will be featuring in the paper on Monday. Hopefully. Sounds like an 11 o'clocker. INJURIES - No word on any updates from yesterday. It's pre-season, the goals lost were poor, but there you go... , BEANS - No idea.

Nice to see you bright and early back on the coalface. I half heard Pat Murphy on BBC 5 Live yesterday, when commenting on the Barry saga, saying that Liverpool were tying up a deal with Rovers for Pennant to raise the cash for Barry. Is this true?
nicko Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Morning Alan. Nice to see you bright and early back on the coalface. I half heard Pat Murphy on BBC 5 Live yesterday, when commenting on the Barry saga, saying that Liverpool were tying up a deal with Rovers for Pennant to raise the cash for Barry. Is this true? Liverpool will have to try harder - and drop the fee. I'm not sure Pennant is the answer, but I have a nasty feeling he will be rolled out as a some kind of 'glamour' name. The club won't want this situation of having the Bentley money and no new faces - apart from Carlos and the new keeper - to boast about. The clock is ticking here and I hope there are no rash decisions made. These can end up costing you a lot of money. I would also have to say I am a bit anxious about the amount of activity and the odd trialist being lined up...like I said many times, the next few weeks are going to be crucial.
Bobby G Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 When you say about the amount of activity, is that meaning lack thereof, or suddenly a number of different names being thrown around?
leftfooter Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Rovers related because of the proximity of Mark Hughes and looming threat of luring our RSC away (see today's NOTW)... How did Ci'eh raise the cash for Ben Haim? Something strikes me as rotten in the state of Eastlands; Ben Haim's huge wages; the Joorabchian connection; the Zahavi influence; the Abramovich presence; the lack of input from Hughes. Did City pay what Chelsea asked, or have a few backs been scratched? What wages are Ben Haim on? Did Hughes actively go for him or even sanction the transfer? Is there a secret war chest at City after all?
imy9 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Nicko-Any truth in Neal Eardley? Sounds a good prospect from what Claridge says: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2007/feb/06/oldham
alexanders Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Didn't know where to put this, but Why aren't we after Gokhan Inler? He seems like a perfect addition to our squad and with the valuation at £6m, he would be an excellent buy.
