Rovers related because of the proximity of Mark Hughes and looming threat of luring our RSC away (see today's NOTW)...

Just by way of clarification the NOTW states that we are facing a "fierce fight" with Citeh over RSC.

They claim Hughes is willing to make a double your money 12m bid* but Ince "is holding out" for 15m for him.

The piece also states we paid 6m for RSC last summer, so I think we can treat this snippet with the contempt it deserves.

* Is that not tantamount to illegal tapping up via the press?

What are you talking about there Rev? I don't get the English humour :(

Sorry, you made it sound like it was so blindingly obvious we should go for him, and I haven't the faintest clue who he is.

August 31 wont come any sooner for me as Im sick of Warnock and Roque being linked away.

City couldnt "afford" Friedel, but have only gotten Ben Haim and Jo, both through shady dealings Id say...I believe nicko to an extent about what he says about their finances. They are somehow bank-rolling some deals but they are happening through specific avenues with minimal transparency...

It does seem strange.

Ince did see Castillo for a couple of days in Germany. Castillo said in the Ecuadorean press that everything relating to the deal had already been agreed before but then Ince wanted to change the pre-argreed details.

All of which is fine but why was there no trouble in concluding the Villanueva deal?

I´m wondering if the Castillo either was not a loan with a future option to buy - as nicko suggested could be the case for both but was not certain - but instead a straight transfer or if there was some late problems that cropped sorting out who-owns-who or who-needs-to-be-paid-by-who etc...It does seem strange how the younger, less experienced Villanueva transfer went through but the more established Castillo transfer collapsed.

Or...maybe Villanueva´s You Tube highlights were just a lot more impressive! ...

I think the "change of terms" that Castillo refers to in his interview - is that Ince wanted him on loan prior to purchase. In the same way he has for Villanueva. Ince knows we don't have a bottomless pit - and is being careful - can't really knock him for that. I do wonder if Ince's latest comments in the LET are his way of trying to open up necogiations again.

My apologies.

Inler is a 24 yr old Swiss International who currently plays for Udinese.

He has been flogged around I think with Arsenal as the most likely contenders for his signature. Though nothing hasn't happened yet.

I believe that he will be interested in playing in an English side and that we should go for him. If Wenger sees potential and believes he is right man to take over after Flamini he is defenitly worth a try.

Thanks for that, no need to apologise.

TARGETS - Many and various at the moment, a bit scatter-gun. But the time to judge will be August 31. There should be money, that should be enough time, but right now it seems a bit haphazard.

ROQUE - Man City will not be able to find the money unless they sell someone big or several smaller players. He is probably the last player the club would want to sell. If he goes then there is something seriously wrong.

EARDLEY - Absolute and utter garbage...the story, that is.

MAN CITY - Ben Haim cost around £3 million. I know that some of City's media allies have put out £6 million, but that is wrong. His wages are big. Yes, there seem to be some interesting links behind the deals...but what's new? My main concern would be where Ben Haim plays - and why they need to replace Dunne and Richards. It's a very strange place just now.

INLER - Top player, price clause in his contract, but possibly too sim ilar to Villanueva. Arsenal and Newcastle at the front of that queue just now as well. Not a stupid suggestion at all.

????

Beam me up snotty.

Sorry for intruding on your private conversation with nicko, I thought I was putting your post in context by trying to explain for everyone else's benefit what the NOTW said, as you hadn't.

Maybe I am very wrong, but didn't Inler play a more box-to-box, defensive role in the Euro 2008?

More of an attacking threat than a defensive I thought...but I only saw him in the Euros.

The price is about £7 million - depending on the rate of the Euro...and his agent wants a massive signing-on fee.

Those are the reasons why he has yet to join either Arsenal or Newcastle.

And why he clearly is out of our reach aswell.

Who asked you?

Putting things 'in context'? You mean like your assertion that Nicko's posts are 'whipping up all sorts ill feeling towards Ince'?

I'm sure we're all capable of understanding one another's posts without the need for you to interpret them for everybody else thanks.

Annan is coming on trial. Shocks me. Everyone tells me he is too small.

Anyway, we shall see.

There is another one in tomorrow...but I will save that back for the paper.

Annan is small, but a very promising box-to-box midfielder.

Do you want to give any clues about the trailists coming in tomorrow? Is he a defensive midfielder or a right winger?

And also Nicko, do you know if we are interested in Kightley from Wolves. After the reports from yesterdays game we should be.

The other trialist is more of a 'sitter.'

No word on Kightly...yet. Things change fast in this game.

Steady on.

Revidge gave some context to a post you made - he only expanded to the level you probably should have covered. I hadn't read the NOTW article and thanks to RB I now wont have to.

Wind your neck in.

Ah, I get it now "a nickoteen."

You're right but, unless everyone else's psychic powers were fully up to scratch this morning, they wouldn't have known what your reference to the NOTW meant.

Anyhow, once again I apologise, I genuinely wasn't trying to be awkward or cause offence. I was trying to be helpful.

Nicko, with Steele already packing his bags, do you have any recent update on the Bobby Mimms affair? Also, is he any good? (mimms that is as a coach).

Also, are the club looking at any other left backs in the current market with Warnock's name consistently being linked with the barcodes?

Cheers

Height never hurt the likes of makalele, maradonna, cannavaro, zola etc.

As long as he's mobile and good with the ball at his feet then his height should not come into it. Coaches who look at stature, before ability are blinkered.
