Bobby G Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Sable is highly rated in France from I hear or is at least a decent enough player when he broke through one or two years ago. I believe he is a central midfielder.

Veevs Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 good thing for us he has a clasue(!) in his contract that says he can join a foregn club. his current loan deal only lasts till the end of this month. Hi Nicko.. Any idea if we are looking at any established players (by my calculations 90% of everyone we are looking at is 19-24).. so far we seem to be going for young stars (Robinson still is young for a keeper and in about 4 years should be hitting his prime time)...? Don't mind a huge ammount, but I just worry about a lack of experience... maybe that is the Ince 4 year plan hense the likes of Robbie.. get a young side and build on them?

JAL Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I agree Eddie, one star name, someone the supporters know of, iv a feeling the club will see that as our right wing replacement. As for the doomsday people who moan about trials, loans etc - We are doing the senisible thing - assess a player before you commit your money! Why not - we did with Bentley, Samba, Nelsen, aswell as one or two others who didnt end up to it, i.e. Nonda. It makes sense for a club in our position, also that cash earns interest while we have the player in and already have the fee set if he is good enough. Just keeps the cash in our bank for maybe 6 months rather than maybe Uniteds. Agree with you and Eddie, in that yes Rovers need to go down the road of trialists to see if they are up to it, ensuring the club doesnt waste good money on anyone, its been proven in the past with good success so surely Rovers must continue this process of recruiting players. Eddie is right though just one star name for the fans to get excited about thats all it would take for the fans to get excited. Just one quality player thats all and the positivity will return.
1ROVER Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 looks lke a more than handy defensive midfielder, not bad at free kicks too

Bobby G Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Didnt realise he was 27 already. The years do go by quickly, as I recall hearing his name a few years ago when he was in his early 20's. He might have gone off the boil a bit, but I cant see how he would "improve" the first team. Could be wrong though.
Eddie Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Sablé is OK. He's better than some of what we have, but not by that much. I'd put him on a Dunn level.

rebelmswar Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Sell mokoena buy sable..........improvement made! Couldn't be much worse, wonder if they will both play in the closed door game?
Roar of the Rover Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Andy Murray for next Manager!! Anyone have a good insight on this player? TBH I've never heard of the lad
nicko Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Just an update, then. Robinson - in. Villanueva - in. Fowler - in, still waiting. Simpson should be in - loan possibly with a view. Right back. Sable - in, trial, plays tomorrow. Defensive midfield. Annan - in, training. Up-and-down midfield. Two or possibly three more - no idea of names and positions - in on trial this week. Spanish B keeper - in, buzzed off. Castillo - in, gone, probably not returning. Not sure about right wing yet...maybe that will be the 'money' position. It's hard to keep up. Andy Murray for next Manager!! Not bad for a Hi-bee.
Bobby G Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Not too excited about Sable now that I think of it, as Nicko said what are we doing with the money? Im looking forward to the highly-rated United player, Simpson who I think may surprise us as Warnock did as well. Annan could be interesting and I wouldnt mind him joining. Are we going to blow "all" our money on Pennant? I certainly hope that there is more to come and there is a bigger fish being looked at...
Mc Love Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Nicko i know its a little rovers unrelated, but what is stopping the lad that is supposedly interested in buying NUFC from having an interest in rovers? Surely we are the more attractive option and a lot less cheaper than what Big fat ash is selling for! Toon owner Mike Ashley is in talks with Anil Ambani, the sixth richest man in the world and head of Reliance Communications, India’s biggest telecoms company. http://blogs.notw.co.uk/sport/2008/08/260m-newcastle.html

Any idea who the game is against tomorrow? After watching yesterday at least 2 new midfielders are required! If i was to throw a player in the mixer id say Torsten Frings would be the the kind of player we need!maybe out of our reach but with a bit of money anything can happen! eg. Friedel

Mc Love Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 True Shilito, but say we made big signings and started to win things.....then there wouldnt be any need to worry!?
Hughesy Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 He looks very good here, very good at striking a ball and another who can take a good freekick
Veevs Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Sable - in, trial, plays tomorrow. Defensive midfield. Annan - in, training. Up-and-down midfield. Spanish B keeper - in, buzzed off. Hi nicko could you clarify those.. Annan in and training.. so he will be aboard? or did you mean on trial? Spanish B keeper... I presume you mean gone and not good enough... boy Ince likes short trials.. lol Sable.. is this looking likely then?.. I have a random good feeling about this one..
S15 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 True Shilito, but say we made big signings and started to win things.....then there wouldnt be any need to worry!? But you'd make more money back doing that at a much bigger club. It's a no brainer.
Eddie Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Sable.. is this looking likely then?.. I have a random good feeling about this one.. I'd try to lose that, I'd be very surprised if we signed him. My feeling is that he is a player being touted around Europe and is willing to go on trial so we have decided, quite rightly, to take a look and make sure that we don't miss out on anything. I'd be very surprised if this resulted in anything apart from a one-way ticket back to France and a pat on the back.
hawkiiz Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Hi nicko could you clarify those.. Annan in and training.. so he will be aboard? or did you mean on trial? Just on trial untill friday, but he is available, if we can pay. He will cost a few million. 4m maybe?
