EwoodGlory Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Nicko, I've just heard that Newcastle are in talks with Taye Taiwo, heard anything on this? If they get him, then it should mean they are not coming back in for Warnock.

brian_gallagher85 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I suspect he will be a victim of the handover, in the way Javi De Pedro was when Souey exited and Hughes came. No, he was simply a crap player
Hughesy Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 No news so far on Simpson today!! The transfer market seems so quiet considering the leagues start from next weekend.

Hughesy Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 SSN - 13.14 Blackburn are set to sign Anthony Annan, according to the Ghana international's current club IK Start.
Bobby G Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I believe he is training with us. Cant see how Ince has made up his mind so quickly on him... Or maybe to get players to come over, we just say we will sign you!
1ROVER Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 here the article http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_3909720,00.html
Eddie Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I believe he is training with us. Cant see how Ince has made up his mind so quickly on him... Or maybe to get players to come over, we just say we will sign you! Given our connections in Norway, the fact that we have previously scouted him and the fact that he is fairly well capped for his country in the past year we should already have a pretty good idea about how good he is. It appears that this is a final check rather than a full trial, our current opinion of him might be so high that he would have to seriously mess up to blow the deal, rather than impress to get one to go ahead. He's an exciting prospect. He and Villanueva may not be able to really change our season this year, but they are certainly two players who could becoming leading players in our side within the next few seasons.
herbergeehh Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Gap you say? Closing you say? Decent left winger.
hawkiiz Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 he has not signed. he came over today. and will stay untill friday. he doesnt play the closed doors game today as he played late last night.

If they are successful they will never be with us for a few seasons...That I am sure of. Unless we consistently enter European competition.
hawkiiz Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 its is true that we are having a final check on him, but NO BID have been made (according to Start). they do NOT want to sell, but for financial reasons they have to, if the money is right. If a deal is agreed Start will have to share the money with Sport Entertainment and Media group (SEM). i guess that means we have to cough up more.
Eddie Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 If they are successful they will never be with us for a few seasons...That I am sure of. Unless we consistently enter European competition. Maybe, maybe not. Some great players hang around outside the top four for sizeable chunks of their career. It depends on what the big clubs need and whether they are willing to part with enough cash. Even if they leave in two or three seasons, that means that they will have done very well for our club and it can only be a good thing. Bentley didn't stay for long, but he helped us finish 6th, had some great games and made us a big profit. You can't ask for much more when we go for someone and we won't be mourning his loss for too long. If every season we could buy a player or two capable of playing champions league football and get some decent time out of them before making a profit then the club would move forward quickly.

Totally agree, for a club our size it is the only way forward.
nicko Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Gap you say? Closing you say? The Douglas story is nonsense...more chance of Kirk Douglas joining Coyle's mob.
T4E Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 The Douglas story is nonsense...more chance of Kirk Douglas joining Coyle's mob. So I ask you for good news, you give me nothing. I go out and find my own good news, and you ###### all over my fireworks. Thanks
1ROVER Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 nicko, do you have names on the interesting faces you mentioned in the morning
DingleBaiter Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Nicko, well done with the Mr Blobby story about new goalkeeping coach. Interesting to see how sparse the story is on t'official site, just says he in as new goalkeeping coach without any comment on the 'old' (if 3 weeks is old) one! Keep up the good work!
ThatRabbitsDynamite Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 here the article http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_3909720,00.html Annan nearly sounds like a done deal if one can believe what IK Start sporting director Svein Mathisen says in the article. "It is not an ordinary trial he (Annan) will have at Blackburn." Mathisen told fvn.no. "They (Blackburn) just want to confirm what they have already seen". I know it is heresay about Annan's abilities but, if what is being said is true then he and the Villanueva signing are helping me to begin the start of the process of getting around to the start of a somewhat relaxed feeling in the sense that the pieces are beginning to fall into place. But, i will reserve judgement for now. Not sure but, there really could be something here!!?!?

Not sure but, there really could be something here!!?!? wouldnt go as far as "close to a done deal". i read the norwegian source, and it says rovers are keen, but no bids have been made. of course if we want him, all we have to do is pay. IK Start desperately need the money, so they will not stand in our way, but he might be a little pricey. but he is good. no doubt.
JAL Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Nicko were there any strikers on trial during this closed doors game.
