I know that I was someone who defended the right to go off topic in this thread, but I really do feel that at this point (following a few pages of Ince related discussion), that posts could now be made on the Ince thread unless there is a new development from nicko.

Agreed, although there was a lot of Ince-slagging going on here so....

Have to say one area which can definatly improved upon (although ironically due to hughes last game in charge it may not be so much of an issue this season i.e. no UEFA) is that we could never play two games in a week. Despite all this fitness sceince, we could NEVER do it, was always too much.

Is it calm before storm? Very quiet day on transfer speculations. People seems to be worry because of poor preseason. Didn´t we lose final preseason match against Huddersfield year ago. With the best squad. And then played six EPL matches unbeaten.

Nicko, Daniel Cousin was connected to Rovers on Sky Sports pages. Any truth? And do you know is there any Rovers players on sale? Our squad is becaming too large for non Europe season.

Oh please God no. Cousin is the pooret player I have ever had the misfortune to watch. He ranks alongside the likes of Shepstone and Currie for me, is a waste of money time and effort and has got to be lazier than Beamo at his best

All correct. We must not go near Cousin. Makes Darchville look like Coisty.

Our friend Chris Bailey again: CITY are in advanced discussions with Tottenham over the sale of defender Vedran Corluka.

Boss Mark Hughes would use the money to chase to £14m-rated Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz, who remains top of his wish-list.

Hughes was quoted the other day saying he had a lot of strikers.

Vassell

Sturridge

Bojinov

Jo

Benjani

Corradi

Bianchi

Caicedo

Evans

What refreshing change to read two pages without anyone calling for inces head or critising him in any way. Its time we all supportted him and had some faith, if we turn againast before a ball is even kicked he will fail at the detriminte to our club. Judge him after 10-15 games of real football, not pre (it doesn't matter) season football.

He had an exceptional European Championships. I can’t elaborate any more because I don’t know a great deal about it. The news surprised me this morning.”

I think the Rovers could do with a top class coach. Someone who has experience but is probably brassed off at the lack of opportunity at his current club. Any suggestions for Incey's number 2 to replace Ray 'Ironside' Mathias?

Step forward Mark Hughes.

I think John Williams will tell him exactly where he can go, even if he did come in with £14m.

Ben Haim over Corluka? Hughes is having a laugh.

Remember Nicko's answer a few days ago to a Question, City and Cruz.

1. No money.

2. I can't say.

Is No2 an agreement, of some sort's. Allowing him to go to City, but stay away from the players, but of course you can have the Axe.

It could be worse, we could be Rangers.

Knocked out of Europe with a 2-1 defeat.

None of the Rangers players seemed capable of playing in the Premiership on tonights performance. Cousin wasn't playing and I doubt he would have made a difference.

My heart bleeds :lol: ....see the Manchester thread :rover:

Hit the nail on the head Majiball. I know nicko said he was going to be away today, I wonder where though.

Question for when he gets back, what are the situations of Sable and Baysse at their current clubs. Are they not wanted or are they too good for them and looking to move on to better standards.

Well Sable currently plays for RC Lens who were just relegated from the French Ligue 1 and he feels hes to good to play in the second division. He said

"I have a desire for a foreign adventure. There, you have no label, no one knows you. You start from scratch.

"In France, I can't lose the image of being the iconic captain of St Etienne(previous club), and few clubs trust me."

Sable's club Lens (I think) got relegated last year, so he wants away, he had some injury troubles last year. He's alright from what I have seen. Judge for yourself below:

Baysse plays for bordeux, he's played at youth level for france so he must have something about him, guess we'll find out what.

I don't think Sablé really feels that he is too good for Ligue 2, it is more that the situation he finds himself in isn't great. He was the captain of St Etienne which is a pretty big deal here, despite the fact that they haven't been a very good club for a while. He went to Lens for 2.5ish million euros and he would have expected to have been in the first 11 regularly, but he struggled to keep his place in the team, it was unclear exactly why it was, but it certainly wasn't entirely down to form. Now Lens are in Ligue 2 and he still isn't assured of a place in the starting line-up, so he really needs to look elsewhere if he wants to get his career back on track. He was never regarded that highly in France, but he'd be on a level of someone like Jenas in terms of the fame and respect that he's had within the country (plus a bit more for being captain at St Etienne). I don't think we'll sign him as I don't think he is any better than what we have now, but maybe he will impress.

surprised that wenger hasn't gone for him, if he played at youth level for france. :D:D

Wenger likes to go to the colonies. Baysse is a good prospect (he can also play at right back), but he is far from the finished prospect. He's young for a defender, so I doubt he'd feature that much this season, but it could work out. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't sign him.

Get the impression he has a bit of spirit about him.

Was that just any armband, or captains.

Looks very composed on the ball, and knows where the goal is.

As previous poster says. Strange Wenger hasn't been sniffing.

Good points. Hughes was very scientific in everything but the football was dull last season. I would argue we underachieved directly as a result of this 'formulaic style'. Pre-season is nothing either. We can sign players up to the end of August.

And....... at least Ince is not blowing the £25m on some ridiculous ex-buddy washed up prem players wanting a last big bucks payola. Lets say one thing very positive about Ince. He has spent net £1m because he had to replace his keeper. That's all.
