I can think of a half decent coach that might benefit Rovers

John Calver ex Newcastle United coach.

Is that on personal recommendation of Mr Craig Bellamy?

Is he available (thought he was managing in MLS somewhere), and are we looking to recruit? At least he's got form, wasn't he caretaker when they beat us 3-0 before Souey took over?

Think an important factor that people are overlooking is Ince had to bring people he trusted first, and I'm sure if he needed to change staff in the future, he would do. I'd suggest though I think Matthias would be the last to be shuffled before Ince, due to them going back someway.

Any news on the reserve coach? TBH I'm more bothered just now about that than any first team staff.

Not the thread to be discussing this, but this one seems to have turned into a free for all today.

However, I have to respond to the 'dull' football comments which I keep reading about under Hughes. It is quite hard to play 'sexy' attractive football unless you have the right type of players to play it. These players usually cost big money...........money which we don't have!

hmm.. bentley, dunn, benni, santa, warnock, emerton, tugay and gamst should manage to do a few tricks if the tactic allow it, no? ince is bringing a wizard first thing, why couldnt sparky if he wanted to? his team could hace tried for some sexy football but they didnt.

funny though that people hate big sam for his boring play, while hughes is running very much the same and is voted god by rovers fans

We had one of the smallest squad's in the league under Hughes. There was a stat about number of players used in the league and I am sure we were bottom of it.

Those are good skillful players you mention, but it is about getting the balance right and not leaving yourselves too open, or more often than not, you will get punished in the Premiership.

You have got to remember he had literally peanuts to spend during his time here, could never freshen up the squad to his liking, therefore his hands were tied in some respects. Whilst some performaces were dire last season, others in the season before and at the start of last season were exceptional.

I'm a lot happier with some of the posts on here today.

We have to be positive and stop jumping on Ince's back.

Friendlies mean nothing except a bit of experimenting. As some people have mentioned, Everton lost to Chicago Fire, Man Utd only drew with Kaiser chiefs, Chelsea lost on penalties after only drawing with Lokomotiv Moscow. Lots of teams have been having poor results. Ince has been chopping and changing all of the personnel to have a look at formations, who plays well with who etc, who doesn't play well. The results mean nothing at the moment.

There has only been one report regarding a bit of unrest at Rovers, sure its probably been printed in more than one place now but its all the same wording and comes from the same article. It most likely comes from Bentley who for some reason now seems to hate us. He's not even mentioned us or thanked us at all in any interviews since he left. This lad should be booed out of the stadium when he comes back, he has to be one of our most hated players now.

Too much is made out of it, I'm sure at every club there are players who are not too happy with the managers ways. Remember when Savage wasn't happy with Hughes? Who did we support then? The players because the manager is being nasty, no we got rid of Savage! Paul Ince is the Blackburn manager, if they don't want to play for Ince then they don't want to play for Blackburn, they should leave if there that bothered? Are they that bothered though? No I don't think so, just the papers making mountains out of mole hills.

So what has Ince done wrong since coming in......

Ok perhaps the backroom staff isn't ideal, but he was brand new to the job and half of the other backroom staff left to join Man City. Perhaps Ince should have took his time during pre season, running training on his own, scouting on his own, coaching the goalkeepers, discussing transfer targets with JW while he waits for the perfect backroom staff to be available? He had to move quickly, he was new to the premiership and still fairly new to management so he's going to need a lot of help immediately and he needs people he trusts and values their opinions around him. Of course Eric Steele has come and gone without any mention of compensation or anything, it could be that all of the backroom staff have come in on short term contracts until he finds the people he wants.

What else has he done? Well Bentley has gone, not his fault, Bentley wanted to leave even when Hughes was in charge. Friedel moved for money and it wasn't down to Ince at all.

What has Ince done well? He's brought in a potentially top keeper, I'd love to see people suggest a few alternatives with Robinson's combination of ability, experience and for just 3.5 million. Carlos Villanueva although is a bit of a gamble is surely one of the most exciting players we've seen come here since.... well who knows? Danny Simpson has come in who is a bright prospect and as people have commented, Man Utd fans really rate him. Sure it might have been nice to get a future fee put in the clause but maybe Ferguson rates him that highly that he refused it.

Other than that we've got a ghana international on trial who Chelsea and Dortmund were reportedly after, a young French defender recently broke into the France youth team, as well as another French player who looks decent at least. The likes of Castillo have been looked at and gone (Funny nobody else has came in for him?). So Ince is taking his time over transfers and not rushing into any decisions. It's better to have money in the bank to spend after you have had a good look at players than it is to have wasted it on mediocre talent.

I'll talk briefly about Fowler but its a tricky one as he seems like a bit of a marmite situation. All I say is he has been on trial a long time now so Ince is obviously not rushing into giving him a contract for the sake of it, he's come out and said that he has missed a lot of football so will take a while to get up to speed and at the end of the day if he's not good enough then he won't get a contract. I still feel he's good to have around for the youngsters to learn off. You could argue that him playing will hold back Derbyshire and co but......

Ince has said today I believe that Derbyshire is a part of his plans and will get a lot of playing time next year. He's also been regularly featuring Judge in pre season who didn't get much of a look in before, Treacey has also been featuring quite a lot. So there is no doubt that Ince is not ignoring youth.

He's also identified that home grown talent is important by appointing Dunn as vice captain, this shows he appreciated people having their heart in the club and wanting to play for Blackburn.

I definitely think he has made a lot more positive moves than negatives so far, I really think people should get behind him and not throw him to the wolves just because we lost a friendly or because we have Ray Mathais on board.

Having the fans behind you can only help the manager and the team, regardless of what happens Ince will be there till christmas at least so you may as well get behind him and who knows what might happen.

It's not going to be easy and it won't happen over night but hey,

'Arte Et Labore'

He thanked the club after he played in the Celtic match.

What - for his upper arm strength - after making him do 20 press ups :rover:

Time to move on !

Amazing - all posts earlier today were so negative - at least we are now seeing a bit of balance. Though I don't think we can criticise MH too much for his style of football. Though I would agree, if Ince can take a calculated gamble on Carlos - why couldn't Hughes have tried to sign somebody similar ?

Ince should take note - one of our best first half displays was against Aston Villa at home - we ended up getting beat 4-0. All the attractive football in the world is worthless if you can't defend.

Anyway back on topic - is Mr Nixon back yet :tu:

Somebody got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning - did you have a nightmare that we signed Robbie Fowler

He was at Chester races on sunday, thought Nicko might have been there too doing his journo snooping ....

I think we should thank Nicko for letting everyone know he was going off radar today. It has allowed discussion NOT peppered with "who has offended him" or "come back Nicko" or the dreaded "let's start a Facebook petition to get him back". We're all calm- he hasn't been hit by a bus. All is well with the world.

Now I wish he would come back and give us good news!!!

I expect Mrs Nicko has had him on a shopping spree for the day & now he's spending his last few shillings down his local!!

Hoping there is an 11 o clocker now though.
