I would think the 'strongest team' by the end of the month will look like this:

Robinson

SIMPSON -Nelsen-Samba-Warnock

EMERTON -Annan- AN OTHER - VILLANUEVA - Pedersen

Santa Cruz.

The AN OTHER is the intriguing one.

Surely that will be Dunn. I assume him being made vice captain is a sign Ince sees him as one of the first names on the team sheet.

Is it this season that we can have 7 subs ? If so - I feel Dunn may become more of an impact player. Though I feel he has made a decent impact since he returned - he does seem to struggle to impose himself for 90 minutes.

Father in law (liverpoo fan) has just this minute arrived home from Pontefract races and is adamant that Liverpool have agreed to sell Pennant and Voronin in order to generate the extra money required for them to complete the gareth barry transfer.

He is positive that Rovers are in for Pennant and it is suggested that Voronin may go back abroad or to Newcastle.

Any views Nicko on this supposed rumour ?

The Santa Cruz thing is quite a good idea...but would go out of the window if a big club got their cash out for Roque nonetheless.

emerton can beat anybody in the world for pace on his day but doesnt. anytime he gets in a position to do so he goes back on him self and passes.

I think most of us ignored that on purpose. Selling Santa Cruz Senior is unthinkable at this stage.

There is clearly a lack of money knocking about. The sums have been done before. 5m for Hughes, a reported 10m for strengthening was reported around March / April, Bentley's cash and of course the extra 3m The Trust have put back in. I'm not going to add that up - we don't need to spend it all or even most of it.

Simpson is supposed to be good so why shouldn't he do a job for a year for us? Why go out and buy a good young player only for Man U to buy him off us anyway? Carlos looks good (on YouTube) as well. I'd be surprised if we don't sign Pennant soon though. Annan will cost a few quid and AN Other? Who knows?

If we're honest that's probably enough tinkering for this close season anyway. If Ince has cash then surely better to see what he has got and then go again in January?

If he hasn't - and we sell Rocky without getting the chance to replace him - then the writing really is on the wall. I'll believe it when I see it though.

So when you sit down at night and sip softly on your whiskey, thoughts turn to old Uncle Trustee don't they? You know. That old cranky nutcase who lives in Jersey. We never send cards or let him be seen by our mates. Still less talk admiringly of the @#/? son of the True Uncle. I mean. Just how mean is he? £40m in 7 years? Pah. What a tight old goat. The True Uncle spent at least 3 times that. And all he wanted was a bronze statue. Uncle Trustee now actually wants us not to spend more millions than we have. WHAT? DOES HE NOT UNDERSTAND THE PRICE OF BUSHMILLS THESE DAYS? It's at least £15m a year.

Jesus wept. I mean... I know he has never said he wants some of the gazillions currently irrationally ploughing into the ungrateful coffers that is our bar round back... but you know.
