I guess Benni and Dwight'll be perfectly happy chillin and smoking ganja behind the bike sheds at Sunderlands training ground whilst Keane puts the rest of the squad through iron man equivalent training routines.

eh???

Majiball, wakes up after a quality night dreaming of threesomes (two girls) including the missus, and Rovers winning the league, to read this:

hahahahhahahahhascummy mail says we'd get £7m for benni  but we want 10

Majiball, shakes head walks through to kitchen and asks the missus to kick him in the balls, why she asks?? I don't think a pinch will do for this one love I must be in a seriously deep sleep!

IF true and we could get £7m then thats great - but who would you replace him with? It has to be a striker of real quality and be a real statement of intent to progress - how about Podolski?

Pod's would be 12M+, I thought he wanted to go back to Koln, but we are a better tteam than them they just got promoted.

What about Eidue Gudjohnsen? Cisse? Or how about we trigger Oblefemi Martins clause in his contract, although im not sure if he would want to join

Lets bid Martins release fee, that'll make the barcodes back off Warnock!

Ok so we take £7m for Benni, then who do you bring in?

Maybe you could find a little more cash to give you a kitty of £10m for a striker. We are looking for a player with a proven goal scoring record in the PL, because that is what we are losing. Strikers especially good ones aren't easy to find, none of Roberts, Derbyshire or Fowler are the answer, unless the question is do we want to go down.

I apprieciate that Benni can be frustrating but you cannot doubt his ability and talent to change a game. It's up to Ince to motivate him, that's why we pay him afterall.

And there in lies the dilema better the devil you know than the devil you don't. We do need more pace especially up front, I would rather see Roberts go and then add in the pace but what would we get for roberts 3M tops, I guess that would get Dwain chambers at least. I find it odd that we have mutiny at rovers and then Benni wants out, I wonder?

According to Ince he has been spending too much time at McDonald's instead of Ewood.

Once heard, a club which will remain unnamed that they gave out to the squads discount cards for McDonalds to save them money on food. I could do nothing but laugh when told it did not go down well.

replace him with jimmy briand

FM, although very good at spotting rising young talent is not the way forward, Briand in real life 20 in 118.

Possible replacements :

Saviola

Podolski

Gudjhonsen

Vagner Love

Vagner Love please he's better than Jo, pacey with a great scoring record.

Still can't believe 7-10M for Benni, What do they put in the water at Sunderland!

Podolski is/was out of favour at Bayern much like Scwienstieger, But i dont think we could afford them or lure them here to be honest.

And there's a reason Gudjohnsson hasnt been back to the prem since he went to Barca, His wage demands are a tad over the top.

Benni is brilliant - what a bargain Sunderland are getting - a fast pacey international European Cup winner who will undoubtedly score 20 goals a season for them. Hope he likes the shopping up there. Must be lots of others in for him in that price bracket - best be quick!

d'oh can't you read a simple post by nicko, or better still go up to the ticker rebelmswar has set- there really is no excuse whatsoever. Anyway the £7m figure is in the Sunderland Echo now.

As an English teacher I teach people to read, can you locate anywhere where Nicko has named the price?

NICKO- "Sunderland want Benni McCarthy, trying to get in ahead of Galatasaray who are genuinely interested. They have the money to make this happen and McCarthy may fancy it. It's a novel twist and the money would be handy to find a striker."

IMY9- "Nicko- How much is Benni likely to cost any buyer and how much money is Benni on at Rovers?"

Which of my questions above has been answered by Nicko? (take your time to read the question)

I think selling Benni would be a big, big mistake - The guy is probably the most talented player in our whole squad. He's at a good age, just signed a new contract, and would benefit hugely from playing with someone like Villanueva.

Talk of Podolski or Saviola as replacements is unrealistic in my opinion - We won't get better than Benni McCarthy.

For £7 million sell sell sell! Hurry before Keane will think twice! He is lazy these days. He was great but I´d prefer Derbs and even Roberts next to RSC. And we should have money to buy even more expensive cover. Although wage policy is a bit problem. Saviola could be good but sounds very unlikely. No one has ever mentioned Steven Fletcer. I haven´t seen him playing but there´s got to be somethingh if linked Real Madrid.

Has Nicko said anything about Benni?

Podolski was available on loan in Jan, he'd be double figure millions now, which I very much doubt we'll spend in total, let alone on one player.

He is well out of favour at bayern for some unknown reason and he was looking at a move back to Fc Koln to kick start his career again.

He would probably be in the £10-15m bracket, but imo well worth every penny.

He could know Cruz from his Bayern time as well?

I can't say I am too thrilled at selling Benni at this point. I agree that he has looked far from interested during pre-season. However, at the moment we still haven't replaced Bentley and the only point in selling Benni seems to be to raise funds for Ince to use during this transfer window.

At the moment we seem to be looking at players who we can bring in on loan without spending any serious money and I suspect that if Benni went then Matt Derbyshire or Jason Roberts would partner Santa Cruz and Robbie Fowler would be brought in to provide the backup. I really don't believe that the will - or the money - is there to make a major signing to replace Benni and that Fowler would be the replacement that Ince would opt for. I just don't believe that move would strengthen us.

Oblefemi Martins please. Has a release clause of £12m i believe - he would improve our side by a massive amount.

You must have missed a decimal point. There's no way he's worth that.

£1.2million then :unsure::P

I can remember Arsenal were after him earlier in the summer, but stated he wanted to stay at Newcastle. Are Rovers looking for a replacement if Benni does leave Nicko?

Hope he stays, I think we would have seen the McCarthy of old this season after no distractions from Chelsea and other top clubs.
