rovers1993 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 i think with annan coming to us (nearly garunteed) and pennant price being touted at 4m which is the price mention by nicko earlier i think our new attack would be looking like this: --pennant--dunn--annan--pedersen-- ---------villanueva--------------------- ------------------santa cruz------------ which i think would provide plenty of exciting football as villanueva and annan would provide pace, dunn, villanueva, and pennant will provide creativity, pedersen providing crosses and santa cruz providing the goals! thats an attacking force to be reckon with!

gazsimm Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Where is Nicko probabley watching the cricket and laughing at some of the posts that are being made on here this afternoon
The Prof. Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Why did Everton let AJ go? Because he is a striker that doesnt score many goals - except from the spot! He dives alot and the ref's have got used to him. We could do better. AJ was considered a joke at Everton. They played him to sell him but the Nigerian reserve chap was always held in much higher regard.
modes98 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 i am sure the likes of Villa, Everton or even Tottenham will be ahead of us in the cue. I doubt Villa would be interested, they have bigger problems such as 4 defenders, plus he doesn't suit their system. Everton I would imagine would be after him but they are at a similar level to us, only difference is they have europe this season. Spurs would have a problem finding the cash unless they sold Berbatov. I doubt Podolski would have an issue coming to us, it would be a case of trying to keep it dead quiet until the deal was sealed and JW is top dog at doing that.
The Prof. Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I couldn't disagree more with that, the chances of McCarthy ever being an important player for us again are negligible imo. I would have snapped anyone's hands off offering 4-5m. 7m just seems too ludicrous to even contemplate. I hope the bullish noises in today's LT are simply attempts to bump the price up a bit more or stalling tactics whilst we source a replacement. Turning 7m down for him would be almost as reckless as signing Grabbi for that amount. Lest we forget, only two of his Premiership goals last season were from open play. For us, that record, or his attitude, ain't going to get any better imo. I don't discount the possibility he might perk up a bit if he goes to Sunderland, but that will only be temporary. And as with RSC, Fowler won't be the direct replacement if Benni goes - some people really are looking to beat Ince up at every opportunity. (Shhhhhhh.......)
Esulx Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 1506: MK Dons have confirmed Keith Andrews has been removed from the transfer list after talks with Roberto Di Matteo and chairman Pete Winkelman. Best bit of news I've heard all week.

PAFELL Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 What about Alan Smith? Er sorry, we only have one zimmer frame and Fowler is using it.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I'd still take him over his namesake though
Alan75 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Where is Nicko Heck no Nicko = Suicide Squad will be on here soon.
DingleBaiter Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Seriously? That is pretty high for the average man on the street, it should be completely unheard of for any professional sportsman. True - hence the term professional; it's not very, is it? Benedict's idea of model pro must be Rustie Lee.
b12_simon Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 You don't fancy taking Alan Smith off our hands do you? Not for all the kebabs in Turkey. He's completely shyte and he's a complete shyte to boot.
CAPT KAYOS Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 1506: MK Dons have confirmed Keith Andrews has been removed from the transfer list after talks with Roberto Di Matteo and chairman Pete Winkelman. Best bit of news I've heard all week. Mmmm ... could be palying the devil's advocate here but does that actually mean that he is not going to be (already been sold) though and is just not freely available?
b12_simon Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Mmmm ... could be palying the devil's advocate here but does that actually mean that he is not going to be (already been sold) though and is just not freely available? Edit: sorry Kapt I completely misread that.
novella Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Mmmm ... could be palying the devil's advocate here but does that actually mean that he is not going to be (already been sold) though and is just not freely available? on team talk it says that his club have talked with him and decided he is going to stay as their season kicks off this week and they wanted him focused. but of course this could still happen if we wanted it too.
nicko Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Rovers will not buy Andrews because of the price on his head...they tried and have stepped back. That is why MK Dons have said what they have said today.
JohnS Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Nicko are you in regular touch with agents, as it looks like your bang on with Shorey and Young to Villa. I wouldn't have minded Young down here but his value's a bit steep. Is Benny likely to go? What about Pennant any news?
thelegend7 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Any updates on transfers nicko? And are the board and management wanting to sell benni or not?
Paulsman Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Aye, Nicko, just wondered if Warnock to Newcastle is still rumbling on?
nicko Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 MCCARTHY - Will depend on the price...and the cost of a top replacement. ANNAN - Looks likely. WARNOCK - Don't think Newcastle will pay the fee.
T4E Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Rovers will not buy Andrews because of the price on his head...they tried and have stepped back. That is why MK Dons have said what they have said today. Well done JW. You're slowly clawing it back round. Now off Fowler, please.
The Rover of Finland Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Nicko, any clue of Benni´s price? £7 would be a robbery. And you stepped over Pennant..any news on him?
thecomebackid Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 MCCARTHY - Will depend on the price...and the cost of a top replacement. 5th August we awake to Mail headline of mutiny in the Rovers ranks as divulged by a ‘senior player’. 7th August we awake to Mail headline that Benni is the subject of a bid from Sunderland…conveniently supported by assertion that he ‘feels the need for a fresh challenge’ and the amount Sunderland are supposedly willing to bring to the table. Mere coincidence, or could it be that both rumours are being fuelled by the same source?
