Hi Mack Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Cabanas is the man, to partner Roque. 142 in 280 appearences 6 in 33 for Paraguy Dont think we should take too many risks!Villanueva annan and simpson to some extent are all risks. They could all be brilliant (fingers crossed) but they could also struggle in this league. I think a proven premier signing is needed! Who?..........Thats the question though!

Roar of the Rover Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Is there an 11 o'clocker tonight? Someone has to ask
rovers1995 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 If we do let Benni go what about Bentdner (Arsenal) Carlton Cole (West Ham) Harewood (Aston Villa) Or a cheeky bid for Bellamy (West Ham)
Roar of the Rover Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 If we do let Benni go what about Bentdner (Arsenal) - Never going to happen Carlton Cole (West Ham) - Rubbish Harewood (Aston Villa) - Roberts is just as good Or a cheeky bid for Bellamy (West Ham) - No Thanks
alexanders Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Of course I have to. It's the only thing I am waiting for. If not an 11 o'clocker I will go straight to bed.
brfcshabba Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 If we do let Benni go what about Bentdner (Arsenal) Carlton Cole (West Ham) Harewood (Aston Villa) Or a cheeky bid for Bellamy (West Ham) Thank god you don't scout for rovers
BRFC1995 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 saw that cabanas a while ago playing for paraguay on tv, fella was unplayable against brazil. Thought he looked older than 27 though, on the basis of that match he'd be well worth £5m of anyones money. roque and derbs would be my first choice, roberts is the worst finisher this club has had in a long time but just because of the effort he puts in he'd be third choice and then the fouth choice slot i think is what we'd need to buy if benni goes. Never seen the fella play but campbell from scum apparently has pace and decent finishing and would probably be seen as an ambitious signing without totally busting the bank. If we can start the ball rolling with a rumour about cabanas i'd be more than happy.
roversmum Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 someone mentioned Benni's attitude in the dressing room. He was player's player of the year last year so can't be bad.
Foxxx Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Awhile back, there was talk about signing Nelson Cuevas if he could prove his fitness, with the new manager comming in, I guess thats got no chance of going thru anymore?
nicko Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Not any type of o'clocker... Just the Everton signing, Boro's new right back and the likely deal for Annan to report in the morning. Nothing startling.

toonfan Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Not any type of o'clocker... Just the Everton signing, Boro's new right back and the likely deal for Annan to report in the morning. Nothing startling. can't believe they've actually PAID us for smith! i would have paid them!
Hi Mack Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Not any type of o'clocker... Just the Everton signing, Boro's new right back and the likely deal for Annan to report in the morning. Nothing startling. Oh Mr Nixon, No 15 million pound signing to announce? Guessing Smith to Everton Finnan to Boro and Annan to sign at 10.33am! Will Breda be Fowlers last game to prove himself?
hawkiiz Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 annan is leaving tomorrow, so i guess there will be major development on that one during the weekend. he is supposed to play on sunday for Stabæk. Nicko you know anything about the clause in his contract? (he can leave stabæk if a foreign club make a move). is there anything else in it? price?
ScottishRover Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 sorry if i have missed it, just read quite a few pages. How much is Alan Smith going to Everton for?
Paulsman Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hi Nicko, Regarding the Alan Smith thing (and I know it's unrelated to Blackburn, but it's already being discussed), is it a done deal? Just find it strange that Keegan would say on Wednesday night that he's not going, but all of a sudden he is. I'm not complaining mind you. He's one of the worst players I've seen in a Newcastle shirt (including the likes of Luque). And do you know if they are letting him go because they have a replacement coming in?
nicko Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 ALAN SMITH FEE -Described to me as 'cheap' but I believe it is about £3 million which is still about £3 million too much. Keegan doesn't know what is happening at the club. The owner just wants to slash the wage bill. I can see Owen moving too if anyone comes up with an offer. MCCARTHY - Could be news tomorrow because of the Galatasaray deadline. I don't think they will come up with money. But I think Sunderland will. ANNAN - It's obvious his club Start want a sale. I think this one is looking very likely. FOWLER - Watching to see if he plays on Saturday. It would make sense. If he scores then it justifies giving him a contract.

It's fairly common knowledge amongst our so-calles in the knows, that Keegan and Smith were told about the Everton bid on Wednesday lunchtime, and he was immediately pulled from the squad. Is it literally a done deal?
DingleBaiter Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hi Nicko, He's one of the worst players I've seen in a Newcastle shirt (including the likes of Luque). Crikey - that's saying something. I would suggest the competition for that tag is so high, you'd have to break it down into 'worse players in a Newcastle shirt' monthly award, or at the very least by position (but that would only mean 11).....
Paulsman Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I think Newcastle fans are completely unsure of what he is meant to be good at. Is he a goalscoring striker? NO (he managed a grand total of 8 shots in his 19 games up front last year). Is he a CM? (No, he can't tackle and is a liability when it comes to yellow cards). Is he a link up player? NO (Zero assists last season that I can think of). He is a nothing player. He may be a nice lad, have a good attitude, and work hard, but that can only get you so far.
steverovers Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 How about Ian Wright, guys...he's old enough, isn't he? Or is the zimmer taken already?
AussieinUk Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Just to clear things up on Emerton's sprinting ability - I think that someone said he had the fastest time at the Austrialian Institute of Sport, they might have wires crossed a bit: He definately did (and may still do) hold the record score on the bleep test at the Aus Institute of Sport. So rather than pace over 30m, he is probably one of the best for endurance sprinting. QUOTE from 2006: "Last year, several sports scientists and trainers named the Australian Institute of Sport graduate as his country's fittest athlete, ahead of Rugby players, swimmers and professional boxers. In a beep test before the 2006 World Cup, he registered 15: an almost unprecedented score for someone in his late 20s." Wake up!! This has been discussed - Try and read a few pages back..
steverovers Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Wake up!! This has been discussed - Try and read a few pages back.. Can it be sorted that individuals HAVE TO read earlier posts before they can comment. (Force 'em to resume at the moment they left the discussion or thread!) How many times have we seen the same questions asked over and over again. Must be VERY annoying to Nicko as well as the rest of us!
