AussieinUk Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Can it be sorted that individuals HAVE TO read earlier posts before they can comment. (Force 'em to resume at the moment they left the discussion or thread!) How many times have we seen the same questions asked over and over again. Must be VERY annoying to Nicko as well as the rest of us! If only that could be enforced! All I can say, is thank goodness Rebs has started the nicko news ticker thread.

steverovers Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 If only that could be enforced! All I can say, is thank goodness Rebs has started the nicko news ticker thread. The ticker thread seems largely ignored by posters on here. We still get the 'Is there a 11 o'clocker tonight' question at least a couple of times a night. As well as 3 or 4 times the same question asked. VERY annoying. Perhaps we should have words like 'clocker' banned!!
steverovers Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Anyway, I'd like to see Ruud Van Nistellroy in Rovers colours, C'mon we have loads of money to throw at it! (According to you 'counters' out there!)
American Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Just imagine what he could do with good service from Alonso...
neophox Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Morning all! Looks like Sunderland is bidding for McCarthy and that Annan will sign today!
alexanders Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Viking FK, Norwegian Football club has been in contact with rovers over a possible loan for Paul Gallacher. According to the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad. The Director of Viking FK is former Rovers player Egil Ostenstad, so this actually makes sense.
JAL Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 FOWLER - Watching to see if he plays on Saturday. It would make sense. If he scores then it justifies giving him a contract. NO, NO, NO, bad, bad, bad move.
philipl Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 NO, NO, NO, bad, bad, bad move. Given your track record on Dunn, I am warming to the idea of signing Fowler.
JAL Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Given your track record on Dunn, I am warming to the idea of signing Fowler. I'm looking for higher standards, why should we put our premier status at risk and accept lower standards, why?.
Hughesy Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 08.08 SSN - Blackburn, Stoke and West Brom are battling it out to sign Algerian international striker Rafik Djebbour. Everton in for McCarthy
S15 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Given your track record on Dunn, I am warming to the idea of signing Fowler. Jesus. To be fair Phil, Dunn is crap, but not the sourcerer of all evil. But whilst we're on about track records.....
philipl Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 08.08 SSN - Blackburn, Stoke and West Brom are battling it out to sign Algerian international striker Rafik Djebbour. Everton in for McCarthy Everton obviously think its a Dutch auction in which the lowest bid wins...
hawkiiz Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Dunn is crap yeah. come on, name them. what players do we have that are actually ANY good at all? santa and nelsen (on his day...?)
alexanders Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Bidding war for Mccarhty. I must be dreaming. And people say this is a crap transfer window.
Bobby G Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 We have sold Bentley and yet to make a move for a replacement with a week left. We still havent signed "that" central midfielder that we have been lacking for ages, and if we sell Benni, what odds on not signing a replacement thats adequate? I know there is still time, but cant see the quality we could we bring in...
the original david brent Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Jesus. To be fair Phil, Dunn is crap, but not the sourcerer of all evil. But whilst we're on about track records..... complete rubbish. you seen any pre season? dunn has been the best player by far
alexanders Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 We have sold Bentley. He was one of our best players last year, but I think that Gamst will once again arise with confidence, assists and goals this season. We are also looking to strengthen with Anthony Annan, Villanueva and Danny Simpson, three young and promising midfielders. We have replaced a 37-year old with a 28-year old who has to improve and will do everything he can to be as good as he was in Leeds and early in his primetime on the English national team. Ince is giving the young lads fair chances and might be able to make a couple of them premiership standard (Judge, Treacy). If we also replace a not-enthusiastic 31-year old with a young and hungry striker I think we should be more than happy with the transfer window.
The Prof. Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 someone mentioned Benni's attitude in the dressing room. He was player's player of the year last year so can't be bad. that could be very good - or be very bad - depending on his attitude to the manager RM . can't believe they've actually PAID us for smith! i would have paid them! You normally do.
hawkiiz Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Gamst to get back to his best. "i have had three fantastic season, but 65 per cent of last year was rubbish. this summer i have been working a lot on my strength and technique, and less running. i work a lot on my shooting also" gamst told norwegian press. (www.fvn.no) great news! doesnt sound like they are all disinterested then...
vintageadidas Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Surely we need to be signing our "star" very soon to replace DB. Bellamy, Benni and RSC have all scored a bag full of goals because of two players in my opinion - Bentley and Gamst. So take half of that away and we have big gaps. Bentley took corners, free kicks, put in numerous crosses in a game, scored goals, played though balls and tracked back.
gbax Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Jesus. To be fair Phil, Dunn is crap, but not the sourcerer of all evil. But whilst we're on about track records..... Dunn isn't crap!
The Prof. Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 ALAN SMITH FEE -Described to me as 'cheap' but I believe it is about £3 million which is still about £3 million too much. Keegan doesn't know what is happening at the club. The owner just wants to slash the wage bill. I can see Owen moving too if anyone comes up with an offer.[/quote] Nicko, that is hugely speculative on your part, considering how many times Keegan has come out and said that the new setup is working well, and that every final decision goes by him. It's fairly common knowledge amongst our so-calles in the knows, that Keegan and Smith were told about the Everton bid on Wednesday lunchtime, and he was immediately pulled from the squad. Is it literally a done deal? Mmmm....... Owen would be an ideal player off RSC and needs his career resurrecting. Any chance of him coming here Nicko - and what would cost? Toon must be in Everton and Citeh's financial league.
socngill Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 We have sold Bentley and yet to make a move for a replacement with a week left. We still havent signed "that" central midfielder that we have been lacking for ages, and if we sell Benni, what odds on not signing a replacement thats adequate? I know there is still time, but cant see the quality we could we bring in... Um, "THAT" central midfielder? Is that not Carlos? The only thing our midfield has been missing for ages is a creative force who can open up defences and score goals. If we bring in Annan then our team will be much better than it was last season. We finally have a right back, a creative attacking midfield playmaker and possibly a very good enforcer. All looks good to me! I really don't think we'll miss bentley this season and I would like to see Judge given a fair crack at that right sided spot before splashing millions on somebody else. If he has a run of games during August and doesn't impress then we can bring somebody in on 31st August. But I am looking forward to the new season, I think it could be a good year for us. Especially if Nicko is right and Annan signs today. Edit - Doesn't Owen have a release clause?
