If you don't mind me asking Nicko, has there been any fresh developments on Smith to Everton and are Newcastle replacing him?

How many times? This is a Blackburn Rovers messageboard.

how? according to Stabæk, Svein Mathisen (sport director at Start) there are no agreements, and rovers wanted to have annan for another week, but because of his contract, he cant.

I agree nothing seems strange to me. He was allowed a one week trial, he impressed and it will take a few days to sort out what we think he's worth, terms of contract etc. In the mean time his club team have an important match and he is a key player so it seems reasonable they use him until the above is sorted.

...I mean just look how long it took for Villanueva to sign even after Audax said the deal was going to happen.

Unclench. Nicko brought this up yesterday. I'm just an interested fan, and I really don't understand how asking one question (which Nicko will choose whether he wants to answer or not) is making this forum a worse place to be. It's only a question for crying out loud.

Can I ask a question that probably everyone on this board already knows and leaving me looking like an idiot :blink: haha

But who is Nicko and how does he know all this infomation?

Nicko is a strange elf like being who lives between dimensions and is able to see everything.

He is seldom wrong when it comes to football info and on the rare occasion he is wrong he is right.

Seriously, he tends to be spot on with his info!

This thread is clogged up enough without it being sidetracked by other team's supporters.

Nicko is the Gorilla at Long Leat and he has Sky Sports News installed in his house.

(that is actually true I've seen the big cute ape)

Outed.

By the way, your Algerian may have some truth in it...I did say last week that the chief scout was at a game in Greece a week ago.

I think this story is out because they are playing tonight and Bolton are watching. The proverbial shop window.

Let me clear this up. Nicko brought it up.

Maybe Annan is gone - because Sable is the man Rovers want?

Good point, but I thought we wanted a holder, Sable and a box to box player, annan. Annan probably just gone back to ask his mum if its OK that he comes and plays with his new friends. If he's impressed as well as we have heard (could just be agent talk) then I'm sure JW will wield his magic wand and turn him into a rover.

I don't know much about the guy but it is a bit worrying that our competition are Stoke and West Brom.

Is this the 'live one' you were referring to then?

So let me see. Annan, who is under contract with another club, was brought over for a weeks trial thanks to that clubs generosity. He stayed a week and then returned. Oooh the shock of it, what a tangled conspiracy <_<

We have sold Bentley. He was one of our best players last year, but I think that Gamst will once again arise with confidence, assists and goals this season.

We are also looking to strengthen with Anthony Annan, Villanueva and Danny Simpson, three young and promising midfielders. We have replaced a 37-year old with a 28-year old who has to improve and will do everything he can to be as good as he was in Leeds and early in his primetime on the English national team.

Ince is giving the young lads fair chances and might be able to make a couple of them premiership standard (Judge, Treacy).

If we also replace a not-enthusiastic 31-year old with a young and hungry striker I think we should be more than happy with the transfer window.

We've lost two of our best three players last season in Brad and Bents. Brad has been replaced with a decent but far from outstanding goalkeeper. Bents has not been replaced but we can look forward to Emerton returning to the wing.

Villanueva is a gamble as he has never played outside of Chile but looks promising on video. Annan is another young player with a good reputation but we seem to be haggling over the fee - trying to get it down from £2 million. We continue to give Fowler a home but anyone who watched him at Northwich and Wolverhampton knows he is no longer Premier League standard. On the plus side we have signed a very talented young full-back on loan - but there is nothing to say that if he does well that Fergie won't want him back.

Benni is now being linked with other clubs and with a week to go before the season starts we may well be looking for another striker - but then again we may not as Ince's pal Robbie is already to step into Benni's role.

Personally, I think it's been the sort of transfer window so far that is hardly likely to persuade new folk to buy season tickets.

ANNAN was always going to leave today. He was brought in on monday, and was told to get back on friday - today.

no fee have been agreed, and apparantly no bid either, so there is nothing surprising in this. he is supposed to play on SUNDAY, not today. this has always been the deal.

he has impressed. a lot apparantly. and we will most likely make a bid during the weekend, no?

annan has been playing competitive games all summer. for sure the rovers guys have seen him several times this year and should not need to have a look this weekend. my guess is that it is just the formality of a having a bid accepted that is standing in our way. both clubs are keen on the deal, and the player are very keen.

its a matter of time for sure.

EDIT:

Rovers wanted to have annan on trial for another week, but there was no chance of that happening because of his contract, and he is supposed to play for Stabæk until august 31.

there is NO agreement at this point.

he IS back in norway, and the norwegian physio stated Annan is fit and sharp for the match on sunday

Good effort on the additional Norwegian info front :)

maybe annan just didnt live up to the hype. It's the position that ince would know best.

Williams has said that Ince has been very impressed with Annan. It's obvious Rovers want/wanted the deal to happen. We'll just have to wait and see if it comes to fruition.

I don't want to drag people back into the depths of an old nightmare but anyone remember the protracted negotiations with Tromso for Pedersen...?
