Nicko knows more than he's letting on. Annan will sign! He expects us to have A N Other in midfield by the start of the season, right? Well, "annan" in Swedish (And, I think, in Norwegian, but perhaps spelled with an e) means "other". His first name, Anthony, obviously starts with an A. Now I don't know if his middle name starts with an N, but it's not unheard of for people to adapt nonsense initials to make their name sound more impressive. So Annan is A. N Other, and will sign for us this month.

The X Files tune just played through my head.

Sunderland have been offered Doyle before - and did not bite. I believe they still want Benni.

Roy Keane on the subject of signings - including Benni I would suggest:

"The way things are going, we probably won't be signing anybody ... not considering some of the prices that have been mentioned to us over the last few days.

"We won't get sucked into any kind of auction with other clubs.

"We've had chats with one or two clubs about different players because, as I've said, there are still three positions I want to strengthen."

latest on ANNAN

NO bid have been made and the price is only agent-talk.

rovers will be in norway this weekend, among other clubs!

Arsenal wanted him on trial aswell, but he could not go because of the contract (thank god?!)

Start have NO asking price. they are simply waiting for rovers to make a bid.

Great theory, if we pronounce his name 'Anon' we have it sussed!

12.10 Blackburn Rovers striker Maceo Rigters has joined Barnsley on loan, skysports.com understands.

One forward shorter already

Not really ;)

Anyone else starting to think that Ince has forgotten that the transfer window closes at the end of the month  and don't open again until next year.

I am beginning to feel that he will not be rushed into anything.

Potentially good, but potentially disastrous.

If we see Naan playing for Arsenal next year I will be ticked off.

No loss to the 1st team really. A season on loan is exactly the right move for both Rovers and Rigters.

I WANT ANNAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want lots of things but have learned that bawling about them on message boards does precisely eff all :D

Not sure whether it's been mentioned on here but Stavanger Aftenblad (newspaper) is reporting that Viking (Ostenstad connection) are wanting to take Gally on a season long loan, or what's left of their season in Norway.

This would be good for Gallagher and very good for Viking. One last chance for Gally to impress and sharpen up. He's 24 tomorrow and were he to play in Norway and come back not making the grade with Rovers it would definitely be time to sell and let him move on.

Fair shout, it would be absolutely inspired if it came off - one of our own to get behind, saving us 7m quid and a fortune in wages to boot - and not something that would ever have happened under Hughes.

Judgey deserves his shot, and to be fair to Hughes he had him lined up to feature around the squad more this season.

He's as good asset to the squad, if only for his workrate & he's like a lil Tasmanian devil, eager to get around the pitch, and had a really good latter half of season in & around the goals. However, the player I'd in mind is an even better prospect, very exciting & they've got high hopes for - more of a out & out forward/wide player. Sure he will get a chance with Ince, but then again if we got Pennant in for a season at a reasonable price, see how the chips fall. Point being, we won't be rushed into buying a RM I feel unless price is right, or (like Hughes did) one of his targets comes available.

funny thing is Østenstad was afraid Gally might be too good for Viking  if he is to go there, he will no doubt be a huge hit in the norwegian prem. maybe they can challenge for the title even.

Isn't this a loan too far? How many times are we going to loan this lad out?

I say we use him for half a season then make a decision.

Well I hope you guys don't mind, but seeing that I have to go and watch our team play, I would be more happy seeing us put out a side that can compete with the other prem sides on a man to man basis. I don't want to watch a Rovers team playing Prem games with anything but the strongest team possible.

I aint bothered how old they are.

That's exactly what I mean, if he has no chance to ever play full time why not move him on?

What is the point exactly of keeping him here if we are going to throw him about on loan and fans have no desire to see him get first team opportunities.

I would always want the best team out there on the field but if its 3-0 with ten minutes to go, throw him on for God's sake, what is the point of investing time and money in someone that you will not use.

Well I've just been looking into this Rafik Djebbour chap that we have been linked with. Nicko also confirms there could be some truth in it.

Sky Sports Link

TeamTalk

Anyway to be honest I hadn't really heard of him, the name vaguely rings a bell. Fortunately I managed to find a way into Blackburns scouting system and am very happy with what I've seen, he looks strong with a decent amount of pace and to be two footed. I thought he was left footed until I saw him taking a few penalties about half way through. He's only 24 as well so time to improve. Its a bit strange that only Stoke and WBA are interested, doesn't suggest people think of him as top class but then he could just turn out to be a real bargain like Rocky did.

Anyway check him out for yourself

:rover:
