S15 Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 The anti-Andrews mob look just that little bit sillier after today. Yeah I feel a right prat now he played okay against a depleted Championship team.

Not really because if he does well then that is better for Rovers. I thought that he had a good game today, he seemed to be more decisive and great to see him getting into advanced positions, very unlucky that he didn't get a goal.
1864roverite Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I am a serious critic of Andrews but even today in my post match summary I have given him due praise. That doesn't make me feel silly at all or have I misunderstood ?

You can't win at times, I don't believe him to be of a sufficient Premier League standard, but he played well today and I will support him whenever he should wear the famous shirt
47er Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 heh, I just realized Keith Andrews may be going to the World cup while Ronaldo and/or Messi possibly miss out. which proves what a great player he is! You can't win at times, I don't believe him to be of a sufficient Premier League standard, but he played well today and I will support him whenever he should wear the famous shirt You speak for me there too.

JAL Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 The anti-Andrews mob look just that little bit sillier after today. Not a Keith Andrews fan, in fact have been one of his knockers, but today he had a great game. If he can play like that against the top boys then i'd be more than happy with Keith. All he has to do now is score the winning goal against Burnley, play well in that game and i'm sure his acceptance as a blue and white will be complete. arte et labore.

Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Maybe being a bit harsh but came away from the game trying to quantify what Andrews did. Missed a couple of chances in the first half, apart from that couldn't think of anything. He certainly didn't cause any moves to break down this week, so on that basis a much improved performance. That said he's unlikely to come accross a weaker midfield than Wolves (well maybe our 6 fingered friends). Can he produce a similar performance against Cahill/Arteta et al next week....

dopper69 Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Well played today Jonnolad, I mean Kieth
sambo Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 As of around an hour ago, King Keith turned 29 Hopefully everyone will be nice to him on his Birthday
Mozzer Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 im not andrew's biggest fan but he did do well today im not going to be a downer on his performance but more consistency against better sides will help win people over ..he put himself about today when usually he would go missing ..maybe he just wanted something to prove against wolves
jw_ Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Fans have always had their pet hate players, particularly at Ewood. And if you really want to hear fans booing players, try attending an England match. End of quote -------------------- I grew up in Darwen and started watching Rovers back in 1952 also used to work close to the ground and have supported them ever since, yes even from other countries and don't tell me times have changed because I've been back and seen the changes. You obviously assumed that because I lived overseas I knew sod all about football and particularly Rovers and that speaks volumes about your personality.
Stuart Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Happy Birthday Keith. Can't believe you're only 29. That must've been the paper round from Hell.
S15 Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Great day, Andrews is another year closer to retirement.
Stuart Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Great day, Andrews is another year closer to retirement. Eh? I no longer have any respect for your opinion of Andrews. At least give credit where it's due. Or are you ironing again...?
S15 Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Not at all, he's crap. If you expect that a decent performance against a depleted Championship standard team changes the fact he's crap, then good luck to you. I wish he was good, it would save a lot of hassle, but he's not, and thought the hounding of him is unfair and often OTT, the defence of him is getting just as farcical.
thenodrog Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Good game today for Andrews albeit against a poor opposing midfield. He could have scored too. Diouff playing wide obviously gave the midfield the width and balance it lacked against WHU which Andrews refused to do when supposedly deputising for Diouff.
American Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Thought he played well in a Lampard-like role - jumping up into the play and feeding on scraps. One of the 2 things that we needed (Reid also does it well) along with Dunny becoming dangerous dribbling again.

Ordinarily I'm with you on this one, and I've already admitting to shaking my head at the team being announced before the game, but he did have a good game yesterday so when he deserves it I'll give him some credit. I really hope he does well and proves the boo boys wrong because ultimately it'll be good for Rovers. (Incidentally, there was no booing for Andrews yesterday and he was even included in the Oles for the spells of excellent passing we had). If we can use him against the poorer sides and protect our squad so much the better. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that Sam has Andrews down as a first teamer now. Possibly even first name down. Good game today for Andrews albeit against a poor opposing midfield. He could have scored too. Diouff playing wide obviously gave the midfield the width and balance it lacked against WHU which Andrews refused to do when supposedly deputising for Diouff. He played again this morning? On his birthday too. Now that's commitment!
den Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Safety in numbers yesterday for Keith. He did OK in a packed midfield against a very poor Wolves midfield. I didn't think he played well, I think he did OK. Not our best midfielder, still miles behind Dunn, Diouff, Pedersen, Emerton [when he came on] and even Grella. In a four man midfield he's still way short. But he did OK yesterday.
tcj_jones Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Yeah, fair play he did do well, but the quality of the opposition CM was pretty poor and he also had the support Dunn and Grella around him.
Exiled in Toronto Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Is it not equally the case that Dunn has the support of Grella and Andrews around him, thus absolving him of having to trundle back? The problem we have had for ages now is that we do not possess any central midfielders who are good enough in a 4-4-2 against a semi-decent team; they all need 4-5-1.
