Jonnolad Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Johnno, you never answered this one.. Fancy another go? It's dead simple. It's funny this, I have to answer questions but mine go mysteriously unanswered - weird. How about we do a one for one exchange? Is Andrews a good goalscorer? Yup, 4 goals last season is testament to that. Fair do's, now my turn: Do you know more than Sam Allardyce when it comes to Keith Andrews?

S15 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 4 goals makes you a good goalscorer? What absolute garbage. Do I know more than Allardyce? Of course not, nowhere near, not on Andrews or anything to do with football on that matter. Do I think Andrews will be near the first team once all our midfield is fully fit? No. Did Nicko state that Allardyce tried to sell Andrews later on in the window, after he initially rejected Fulhams bid? Yes. Go on, why don't you just answer my questions? Is it because most of your answers must be no? I mean, if you're suggesting that 4 goals makes you a good goalscorer, you're either a complete moron, or just clutching at straws.
den Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Can I nail this argument that no fan knows better than the manager, on any footballing matter, including knowing what makes a Premier League player? Wrong.
rebelmswar Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Can I nail this argument that no fan knows better than the manager, on any footballing matter, including knowing what makes a Premier League player? Wrong. You also have to take into account personal bias, and personal thoughts on playing style. There is no way we can possibly guess what Sam sees in him with any accuracy. I suppose we have to assume that Sam sees him as the best answer to the question with the answers that he has available to choose from at this time.
Tris Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Do I think Andrews will be near the first team once all our midfield is fully fit? No. That old chestnut has been trotted out after every single fixture for two months now, since we played Cambridge United on July 14th. Since when Dunn and Grella have returned to fitness, Emerton is also back in the first team squad, Salgado is supposedly an option in CM and the manager could pick two strikers rather than one. You'd imagine that with all those options, Andrews would have lost his place over those 8 long weeks. Maybe Steven Reid is going to be the answer to your prayers and will finally force Andrews out of the side. I wouldn't hold your breath.
S15 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 That old chestnut has been trotted out after every single fixture for two months now, since we played Cambridge United on July 14th. Spot on. And since July 14th, Emerton, Dunn, Grella, Reid, Diouf and Salgado haven't all been fully fit, neither individually nor collectively. Hence, Andrews has carried on being a regular. Why did Allardyce try to sell Andrews at the end of the window? Do you think it might have had something to do with Emerton returning over a month before schedule? I do.
Tris Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Why did Allardyce try to sell Andrews at the end of the window? You'd believe anything. Why's he still here and playing - and with a new contract - and he's worn the armband? Why isn't he with Zurab - totally out of the picture?

Why isn't he with Zurab - totally out of the picture? Ah I forgot you have your own little crush on Alan Nixon haven't you? For the record, do you think Andrews is a good player? Or have you just had a bad day at work?

I suppose we have to assume that Sam sees him as the best answer to the question with the answers that he has available to choose from at this time. Spot on. Even then he could be wrong - after all, Roy Hodgson thought Christian Dailly would make a good right winger. Still, we shouldn't ever suggest managers get things wrong.
thenodrog Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 The conclusion must be that he either cannot read or has learning difficulties. Probably both. Jonno is obsessed with KA. I don't know why, it's baffling. BUT he writes and reasons well, so that is a most stupid and immature post from a stupid and churlsih person who frequently professes to place so much store in grammar and punctuation.
tcj_jones Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Theno, it's quite obvious: Jonno has a big gay crush on his idol, Andrews. It's weird, he must have a fetish for ###### footballers with really ugly faces. I wonder if Andrews is as plain stupid as Jonno too? He'd take even more of a fancy to him then, I'm sure.
rebelmswar Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I wonder when people will start taking potshots at Gordon Brown in order to impress him.

Iceman Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Where do I fit in then?? You have a crush on Mokoena T4E.
T4E Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Spot on. Even then he could be wrong - after all, Roy Hodgson thought Christian Dailly would make a good right winger. Still, we shouldn't ever suggest managers get things wrong. Just seen this. I think you've nailed it Den. The primary arguement seems to be "do you think you know better than Sam Allardyce?". It remains to be seen, but if Sam insists on playing Andrews alongside Grella when Emerton, Nzonzi and Reid are all fit, then yes, I think I do know better on this one. Same as I thought Dailly was a horrific signing at 5.3m. I was right then, too.
broadsword Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yeah if you don't toe the party line, your point of view is invalid. PS: If we did get Beckham, how would he ever be able to displace Keith and get in the side?
T4E Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 If Sam played Andrews before Beckham, that would mean Andrews is better. Unless you think you know better, of course?
broadsword Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I am that fly on that wall in the training ground. The one that can lick his ######.
Amo Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I imagine Reid will be the one to ideally displace Andrews. Reid isn't the most technically gifted, but he knows how to harry and make a challenge - and is prone to the occasional blockbuster. Perhaps he can fill the void left by Savage? The only problem is with Reid, Dunn and Grella in the same side, we'll need plenty of bubble-wrap.
Miker Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 It's pointless arguing over Andrews. Just accept the fact that Sam rates him and sees him as a useful player to balance out the side and provide the functionality to the side Sam wants. All of you are judging Andrews by his individual qualities, but in the end the important thing is how he integrates into the team and he does that well, so stop pretending that he's not. Even if Reid and Emerton are fit, Sam won't just throw Andrews out of the team, he'll have to lose his place or someone else will have to earn it. Don't think that the minute Reid can run a full 90 minutes that Andrews will be automatically displaced.

Tris Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 "It's pointless arguing", so just accept my version? Oh, OK Miker. To be fair, all the previous versions of this argument are in tatters - because Andrews is still getting on the pitch. If the previous arguments had been correct, then Andrews would have been - first out of the door in the summer - out of the team when Nzonzi was brought in - not given a new contract - out of the team when Dunn came back - out of the team when Grella came back - out of the team when Emerton came back - out of the team for every single fixture this season according to most of the expert analysts on here Instead, he played more than anyone else in pre-season, and despite there being many more options to choose from in midfield than there were at the back end of last season, Andrews has played more minutes in the first team than any other Rovers player. So when Miker states that he'll have to lose his place or someone else will have to earn it. Don't think that the minute Reid can run a full 90 minutes that Andrews will be automatically displaced - then yes, you should probably "accept his version".
LWX Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Perhaps he (Reid) can fill the void left by Savage? Hahahahahaha!
DanLad Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Maybe Big Sam is of the view that it's better to improve as the season goes on? If we start off struggling and gallantly fight back he'll be applauded for the turn around, whereas if we start off well and fade he'll be criticised. On this basis he's picking KA until Christmas and will then drop him, miraculously turning the season around in one fell swoop!
