Al Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Andrews has scored some pretty important goals for us actually. He's also been one of the most versatile members of our squad and the most fittest. Get over the Andrews bashing its getting tiresome Yes I'll give you versatile! He's equally poor in midfield, at full back and on the wing and as for tiresome, yes the more I watch him the more tiresome it becomes.

LeChuck Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Andrews has scored some pretty important goals for us actually. He's also been one of the most versatile members of our squad and the most fittest. Get over the Andrews bashing its getting tiresome I don't think he's scored this season yet. I don't understand why you think he's versatile; he plays central midfield. We've used him at right back last season occasionally but there is no danger of that happening again with the number of right backs we have, so he's down to one useful position. I won't argue with 'fittest', that's blatantly the only reason he gets anywhere near our starting line-up. If Grella hadn't crocked himself again he would have been starting alongside N'Zonzi.
waggy Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 the so called experts on here were cliaming julie would be out of the team when everyone is fit,yet he still plays with about 90% of the players back, its either you lot no nowt about togger or lardarse and trappatoni are the EXPERTS

I guess I know nowt. btw waggy I know one cannot get a true picture from watching the telly and certainly not through the bottom of a glass but what is your opinion of the ability, talent and overall quality of our Julie?
waggy Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Trappatoni has no one else but SA's continual selection of Andrews is leaving me gobsmacked. I guess I know nowt. btw waggy I know one cannot get a true picture from watching the telly and certainly not through the bottom of a glass but what is your opinion of the ability, talent and overall quality of our Julie? not the best player to don the blue and white shirt, gives 100% and is truely outclassed when we play the top four, lardarse picks him because the fans hate him, well not all but at least 80%.he is a valuble squad player at best, never injured.it truly tickles me that lardarse rates him,a poor mans kevein nolan perhaps or that greek guy
Exiled in Toronto Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 it truly tickles me that lardarse rates him,a poor mans kevein nolan perhaps or that greek guy There lies the problem - Allardyce rates crap players for a reason: because they are happy to play to his 'system' and he believes in his system over the attributes of individual players. Andrews gets picked because he has the best engine to get up for the second ball, not that he knows what to do with it. Diouf gets picked because he wins free-kicks, not that he can take them or finish from them MGP gets picked because he can throw the ball a bit further than anyone else we have, not that Samba ever heads them anywhere. No other team in this league would pick any of those three, let alone all of them.

MGP would be wanted by at least 6 PL teams because he his a decent premier league player. Diouf was signed by a PL team and always played in the top flight what makes you think that would change all of a sudden?

But he didn't buy him MGP would be wanted by at least 6 PL teams because he his a decent premier league player. 3 years ago maybe, not today Diouf was signed by a PL team and always played in the top flight what makes you think that would change all of a sudden? He was in Sunderland's reserves when we signed him, and I can see why
Backroom Tom Posted November 5, 2009 Backroom Posted November 5, 2009 One thing that Andrews can't be criticised for is his fingerwag, he has the technique down perfectly, it really is the best part of his game: Textbook
DeadlyDirk Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 One thing that Andrews can't be criticised for is his fingerwag, he has the technique down perfectly, it really is the best part of his game: Textbook Perhaps he fancies a career in refereeing in the future? Could be a useful little wag he's got there.
Jackson Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Perhaps he fancies a career in refereeing in the future? Could be a useful little wag he's got there. He's alluding to the division he should actually be playing in.
waggy Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Trappatoni has no one else but SA's continual selection of Andrews is leaving me gobsmacked. I guess I know nowt. trappatoni had nolan/and the hunt brothers on the bench v italy
Claytons Left Boot Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Not knocking the lad because it's not his fault, but I've yet to come off Ewood and say, that Andrews looks a bloody good player. Can anyone here, hand on heart, say that they have?
Roaming Rover Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I feel sorry for Super Keith. He reminds me of the kid at school who didn't have the right trainers or clothes but it wasn't his fault at all but he still got picked on. It is not Andrews fault Sam keeps picking him or he isn;t good enough but he still gives 100%.
AndyNeil Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I will have a word and see if he can send you a postcard to thank you for his support, I've heard he does this .....
Plastic Head Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I feel sorry for Super Keith. It is not Andrews fault Sam keeps picking him or he isn;t good enough but he still gives 100%. Trying isn't enough to be a Premier League player. I would try. If he is in the team again tomorrow the boos will be for both him and the man responsible for him being there.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Why do you boo him though? He's doing everything that is asked of him and it isn't his fault if he isn't good enough. Would you turn down the chance to play in the Premier League for megabucks? Course not. What is he meant to do, demand that he doesn't play?
Backroom Tom Posted November 6, 2009 Backroom Posted November 6, 2009 Agreed ADB, Keith isn't good enough but that not his fault, his effort can't be criticised. Booing him is just pathetic
Plastic Head Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Why do you boo him though? He's doing everything that is asked of him and it isn't his fault if he isn't good enough. Would you turn down the chance to play in the Premier League for megabucks? Course not. What is he meant to do, demand that he doesn't play? Keep supporting him then. Hope you'll still be there getting him behind him in the Championship, coz that's were we are going with him in the team. I boo because I don't want to lose, and any amount of hysterical cheering won't make him a good player. Like I said, it will turn on the manager very soon on Saturday if things take a bad turn. We know we don't have the ability to have the best players in the league by any means, but surely someone can take a corner???
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 You don't have to support him, but booing one of your own players is pathetic and counter-productive. The manager should be responsible for who plays, not the player themselves unless they are not trying.
mellison24 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 'Any amount of hysterical cheering' can actually have wonderous effects on a players ability, through confidence. I'm only being pedantic, as R Keef is shyte. But if you ever boo a player, you need your head checking imo. Managers will make balls-ups and booing them gives them a chance to think it through. A player is IN ACTION for 90 mins. So until the match is over, they will only be discouraged by booing, rather than spurred on by it (from home fans at least).
broadsword Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 booing will solve sweet FA. Sam the Walrus Man will still play him. It will just make matters worse.
daveoftherovers Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Anyone thought of any alternatives on the books at the moment? We have to play what we have, sorry, but as much as I don't rate Keith, he tries, he's fit and won't last a few minutes and, most of all, he wears the blue & white! Yes, so as long as he does wear the blue & white, I won't boo'ing him.

Exactly, and my word Keith needs all the help he can get. Not his fault he's out of his league, and he literally can't do any more for rovers than he is doing - so can't complain at him at all. It's the berks who pick him who are to blame - Ince and now Sam, especially now we have options fit. Edit: Dave - yes. Emerton would be my first choice as ball chasing central mid. Grella when fit - and he has been for a fair chunk of this season - offers more and can actually pass a ball, even if playing him and N'Zonzi means we're almost playing 4 centre backs. Move Dunn back and play 4-4-2. Is Reid back to full fitness, or nearly there? Surely he can't be as bad as Keith, even after 2 years out.
