Roaming Rover Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Trying isn't enough to be a Premier League player. I would try. If he is in the team again tomorrow the boos will be for both him and the man responsible for him being there. Oh dear!!!! I do sometimes get the feeling that if (God forbid) Keith Andrews was in a terrible accident some people on here would actually be happy as it would get him out the team. As for the confidence thing, some of the things he does badly is down to panic and the fact he knows whatever he does he is screwed by the 'supporters'. He may not be good enough, but I really do not get the hatred for someone who trys their best and is in the team because the manager picks him. He doesn't pick himself..............

KA is rubbish but he's always got a game because the likes of Grella, Dunn, Emo and even Reid not being available. I'd actually say even Ronnie Hildersley and Tony Finnegan were better (although KA slightly better than Paul Shepstone) but booing him is pathetic and pointless.
thenodrog Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Sam the Walrus Man will still play him. Rather unecessary and infantile comment if you don't mind me saying so.
thenodrog Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Don't let me stop you. Best to stop digging. Cos you often make good posts Bryan I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as once the edit facilty disappears any embarrassing or inane comments made in the heat of the moment cannot be rectified.
broadsword Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 There's a lot of that on here, born of frustration, methinks.
Jan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Oh dear!!!! I do sometimes get the feeling that if (God forbid) Keith Andrews was in a terrible accident some people on here would actually be happy as it would get him out the team. I know it makes me evil, but yes, I would be glad it would keep him out of the team. Right now I'd be glad if ANYTHING kept him out of the team.
thenodrog Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 There's a lot of that on here, born of frustration, methinks. Without a doubt since the money dried up and other clubs became richer our club is in decline. Allardyce nor anybody else imo can arrest that decline they can only slow it down. If that depresses you then tough sh1tski cos it bloody well depresses me too! Interesting if anyone could come up with a running league table of the movers and shakers and ups and downs of Prem clubs relative to their expectations. Fortunes and situations rather than points alone. imo City would obviously be at the top, Arsenal 2nd, Burnley top 6 too whilst the bottom two would be Lpool and Hull. We'd certainly be bottom third.
broadsword Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Hurts doesn't it? Nobody likes getting walloped, and for that matter nobody likes getting beat regularly. Certainly performance versus established expectations has not been there for a while. I don't think any of us have unrealistic expectations of millions being spent in the transfer market. But something to give us some hope would be nice. At the moment it's all doom and gloom, and it's very difficult to be positive in situations like that.
patrickvalery Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Absolutely no point booing Andrews. Will achieve nothing. The fact is he plays becasue he's fit and has shown some heart. Allardyce knows his limitations. In my most humble opinion he is his own worst enemy. His enthusiasm actually hinders him. He charges about trying to prove he's good enough and it often causes us to loose shape. The Arsenal match was typical of this. Against good sides (which invariably most PL sides are) he gets sadly exposed. Any side who play creative midfielders just behind the front man thrive on momentary space and our Keith offers such opportunities when his enthusiasm draws him out to make unnecessary challenges. But he is one of very few options available. I'm sure given suitable funds Sam would have replaced him in the summer. Whether the money was better spent on an array of right backs is a debate for another thread i suppose.
Amo Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 His enthusiasm actually hinders him. *He charges about trying to prove he's good enough and it often causes us to loose shape. *meanders about whilst jabbing his finger at the opposition.
sam_rovers Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 we should not boo andrews... he is simply not good enough and hes still being selected..booing him wont make him play better... plus booing players who play for the club you support is illogical. I hope he isn't starting against portsmouth..
broadsword Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I think all signs point towards him starting today. Or should I say, wag towards him starting today.
CrazyIvan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 He is dropped today. He came on as sub and did well. He didn't look out of place and, as far as I can remember, didn't give the ball away and made some good passes.
philipl Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 He came on as sub and did well. He didn't look out of place and, as far as I can remember, didn't give the ball away and made some good passes. A great 9 minutes from Keith then.
CrazyIvan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 A great 9 minutes from Keith then. Actually yes...
Plastic Head Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 He came on as sub and did well. He didn't look out of place and, as far as I can remember, didn't give the ball away and made some good passes. He got 2 touches and pointed 4 times. I'll give the guy a break this weekend.
philipl Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Actually yes... Keith's outstanding performance of the season then.
1864roverite Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 In 9 minutes, he didnt win one header, didnt tackle and passed backwards each time the abll came to him. Not one movement forward or creative pass.
Backroom DE. Posted November 7, 2009 Backroom Posted November 7, 2009 Ideally, today is how Andrews should always be used. Coming on late to provide fresh legs and hound the tiring opposition.
CrazyIvan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Keith's outstanding performance of the season then. No. He still gets harshly treated on here. He's not the best in the world by any stretch but he's way better than Mokoena. Some good passes from him in the few minutes he was on. He was involved. One cracking pass 60 yards to Roberts too. In 9 minutes, he didnt win one header, didnt tackle and passed backwards each time the abll came to him. Not one movement forward or creative pass. Who were you watching?
Stuart Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Ideally, today is how Andrews should always be used. Coming on late to provide fresh legs and hound the tiring opposition. I think we saw today exactly how he was envisaged to be used. I hope it continues that way.
BuckyRover Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I think we missed him today. N'zonzi was very poor today. The commentators pointed out that he didn't touch the ball in the first half.
tony gale's mic Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I think we missed him today. Yep, if only he'd been given the full 90..
