waggy Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I think after the forced replacement for RSC - Roberts, we should of kept Pedersen on and took Derbsyhire off (who was out of his depth against Vidic & Ferdinand), replacing him with Carlos. Andrews for Tugay was the right move as it wasnt a game for an ageing Tugay. did derbyshire's smack head brother once rob your house, you certianly don't like the guy.keep pedersen on

LeChuck Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 The codition was that I'd show my arse on the town hall steps majiball..... if he ever plays for England. Don't worry, Andrews isn't in the Ireland national squad so you don't have to cover yourself with that excuse. It's an 'Ireland XI' playing against Nottingham Forest - not a recognised international match by FIFA and therefore won't count towards caps.
grizfoot Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Whist I didn't see the point in bringing Andrews on when were 2-0 down. I was shocked at the abuse shouted out when Andrews came on 'Get back to Legaue Two', 'On no not him', ect. Some people even took to the exit in protest of him being brought on.
BRFC1995 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Whichever way you look at it a boo for the player is a boo for the manager and judging by the West Ham and Man United fans reaction to Paul Ince neither set of supporters warmed to him either which now looks like being that way with many Rovers fans. This is an unhealthy situation that puts doubts over Rovers ability to progress in the near future for me. who are u? if your a spoilt 12 year old girl with an inferiority complex then maybe i'd understand the rotten attitude to being the supporter of a small town football club.........anything else and u can hands down claim to be the most negative, deluded dispondant and over the top supporter we could have the misfortune to have.

This is an unhealthy situation that puts doubts over Rovers ability to progress in the near future for me. You really will twist any situation to suit your own warped agenda v Ince. Those two situations are quite unique. The West Ham fans despise Ince because as a young man some 20 years ago he foolishly allowed himself to be pictured in a scum shirt prior to signing for them. I would imagine he regrets that now. I've really no idea why the neanderthals who follow Man Ure were directing those chants against Ince on Saturday. Perhaps they were following the example of their equally boorish manager who at one point labelled Ince a big time Charlie. Perhaps they hadn't read last week that Ferguson admitted he was wrong to say that.

Perhaps they were following the example of their equally boorish manager who at one point labelled Ince a big time Charlie. You will probably have heard some of them calling him a scouser as well. In Friday's LT it said that after he had gone to Liverpool from Inter Milan, he over-indulged in celebrating a goal he scored against them, which gave Liverpool an equaliser. As a result of that celebration, and the time he spent at Liverpool, the MU fans are very split in their views about him.
imy9 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Whichever way you look at it a boo for the player is a boo for the manager So when Bentley was booed by England fans, they were actually booing the manager? Rio Ferdinand playing for United, fans were booing Fergy? You are a funny little thing, I could go on...you should really think before you speak.
92er Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 So when Bentley was booed by England fans, they were actually booing the manager? Rio Ferdinand playing for United, fans were booing Fergy? I understand that you are trying to pick him up on an apparent mistake, but I do think that when club supporters are booing one of their own players, some of that derision is aimed at the manager. I suppose the same thing can happen at international level-weren't some of McClaren's changes whistled at?

I suppose the same thing can happen at international level-weren't some of McClaren's changes whistled at? I am picking him up on his clear statement that booing players "whichever way you look at it" is booing the manager which is a load of nonsense. Your statement is probably more correct that some of the derision is directed at the manager but IMO every situation is different. When Ashley Cole refused to sign a contract and was booed by a portion of the Arsenal fans (same as Vieria) this was clearly not directed at the manager but at the player. Downings case for England was directed at McClown who fans were beginning to resent. Poor Andrews has not even been given a chance which is sad reflection on the "fans" who are booing him- it would be interesting to see some of the "booers" coming forward to state what their reason is, is it Andrews or Ince the booing is directed at?

Again I am answering this even though I do not fall into this category! I suspect most of the booing is directed at Ince.

Grizfoot....... what would you have expected the reaction to be at the other end if it had been Fergie that had signed him and brought him on at 0-2 down for Scholes or Ronaldo?

They sometimes have to play Fletcher in midfield!! I don't see them booing him (Nor do I remember them booing burnley reject Djemba Djemba)
RovertheHill Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I don't understand why fans boo Andrews. And I don't understand why everyone is lambasting Ince for buying him. He's probably a better player than Kuqi and Berner, and arguably as good as Mokoena, and I don't recall either them or Hughes getting booed. He shouldn't be brought on when you are out of ideas and 2-0 down at home - not when you have Carlos on the bench, but over the season he'll do an okay job for us I'm sure.

The only logical one I can think of is to do with the average IQ of a football fan....
Backroom Tom Posted October 7, 2008 Backroom Posted October 7, 2008 The fans were summed up for me in the Fulham game, andrews had a great volley from 20 yards or so into the side netting met with a mind of quiet reserved applause, the only comment I heard from our friendly chav contingent? 'Dunny would have scored that!' He may not be Michael Essien but give him a chance eh?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 A thick necked brainless in front of me said that he could have scored it, and his mate said it was a sitter. Some people, eh?
Mozzer Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 i wasnt so keen on the idea of signing this guy-but he hasnt looked that bad actually..hes a decent passer-other then dunn looks like the only central midfielder who could score for us..hes come close in nearly every game he has played for us.. i think people are just booing him because we bought him from a league 1 side.. i think hes a decent squad member who could get a good 5+ goals for us this season-especially with his well timed runs into the box...
andrew92 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 i dont boo andrews at the games!! but i am very easy to read by way of body language when he is included in the squad. i hope i am wrong as many were about dunn last year but i just dont think he will be able to prove that he is a week in week out premier league player!! i will hold my hands up when he puts in a stretch of IMPRESSIVE, not average!!! performances!!!
BRFC1995 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 and whats the colour of the sky in your little world BRFC1995 err......blue and white, in a little world where people don't need to be taking happy pills to get over the dispondancy sitting comfortably in 10th place. If the biggest grumble some fans get is a 1million pound player not as yet looking much better than a squad player..then i'm pretty happy. Days of signing the likes of ward and ostenstad and peacock and blake and perez and having the most gormless incompetant in charge(kidd) and losing every single week until the inevitable happened. They were times to despair and "after the final whistle" boo. There is no reason in the world to boo or cry or b!tch at the minute, Man utd where simply awesome and we can't match that ...end of!
Whyoy Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 i dont boo andrews at the games!! but i am very easy to read by way of body language when he is included in the squad. i hope i am wrong as many were about dunn last year but i just dont think he will be able to prove that he is a week in week out premier league player!! i will hold my hands up when he puts in a stretch of IMPRESSIVE, not average!!! performances!!! Just for information how many players have you "held you hands up to" this year. Other than Santa Cruz and in odd games Tugay and Robinson it seems to me no one will have received your salute. There are not many players in the current team who have been anywhere near impressive. Thus Andrews has been no worse nor better than the majority of the team, so why is he being singled out for this in depth scrutiny. At least he has the excuse of not being familiar with the teammates he's being asked to perform with. What's the excuse for the rest of the team?
grizfoot Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Grizfoot....... what would you have expected the reaction to be at the other end if it had been Fergie that had signed him and brought him on at 0-2 down for Scholes or Ronaldo? For one it's highly unlikely United would have signed a player from the lower leagues and secondley Ronaldo and Scholes aren't 38 like Tugay, who was clearly ineffective and tiring. I can understand people questioning or booing the substitution (I'd have brought Villanueva on instead) but it's not Andrews fault Ince choose to bring him on. Andrews hasn't exactly set the world of fire in his performance so far but nor as he done anything so badly to deserve such critisism which seems purely based on the fact he came from a lower league club.
vintageadidas Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Premier League Snobs - that's what we are! He is a decent player who now wears the blue and white halves, so should be supported in every aspect of his game. I though we had better fans than that. T055ers
Hughesy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Given his 1st start for Ireland tonight. Good match practice for him anyway. Official Site
Ozz Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Well Trappatoni thinks he can do a job then against Nottingham Forest.
