tonyoz Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Oh very good Bucky. However you need to realise that Northern Ireland would likely be relegated from the Premier League in their first season. Hey! i was chuffed to make my school first team. To be chosen to represent your country is the ultimate honour whether it be Brazil or the Faroes...... The Rovers are winners here too.

thenodrog Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Very true. I don't know what that has to do with Andrews though. Good point!
Hughesy Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Oh very good Bucky. However you need to realise that Northern Ireland would likely be relegated from the Premier League in their first season. Erm whats your point. Northern Ireland? Isnt it the Republic of ireland he & reid/ treacy/ judge/ kane all play for??
dingles staying down 4ever Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Yeah well done to him on his full promotion to the Ireland squad alongside other luminaries such as Caleb Folan and Darron Gibson. who he has been picked with has nothing to do him or says nothing about his ability. Well done Keith Andrews.
thenodrog Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Good point! Erm whats your point. Northern Ireland? Isnt it the Republic of ireland he & reid/ treacy/ judge/ kane all play for?? Erm whats your point? I'd already acknowledged my mistake in the post directly above.
Amo Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Treat people how you would like to be treated. If you were a lower league player given the chance of a lifetime to play in the Premiership, would you really appreciate the "fans" criticizing your every move? No. When Andrew is given a run in the side and shows his class (be it Premiership hopeful or lower league journeyman), then will be the time to judge him. I wasn't over the moon with his arrival at first, but now he's here we've gotta get behind him for the sake of the club.
American Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Bucky, performing well against who ......Nottingham Forrest! says it all. I'd agree thats probably more Keith Andrews level sadly we, Rovers, play against teams like Manchester United and Arsenal and that i'm afraid is the standard any current Rovers player has to emulate not that of a lower level chump chip team. Think about it Bucky. The standard has to be higher on the Rovers playing side. When we have a fully healthy squad, Andrews is not a starter, and most likely doesn't even come on as a sub. For a squad player, he was a good buy. Will do a job on a part time basis and won't complain when he isn't selected.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 I was against his signing but to be fair to the lad he has done pretty well so far. He's not going to set the prem alight but he is a solid player who works hard. Good goal today rescuing a point. He showed against Boro he can get himself into goal scoring positions and he has a decent shot on him, good to see him being rewarded today. Its early days but continue to prove me wrong Keith!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 I wasn't exactly excited when he signed but have been hoping he could get a goal when he has played to get people off his back. Good to see him shut the boo-boys up.
dopper69 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Very pleased that he has scored. Well done. As I've said befor I believe Andrews can do a decent enough job
T4E Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Performances aside, he's shown excellent character since he's been with us, ignored all the flak and got on with his game, and he probably deserved his reward today just for that. We're desperately thin in his position, so if he can go on to become a player for us it'll be an massive bonus.
rover6 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Andrews needs a run in the team, alongside a holding midfielder. I'm glad he got his goal today because many people have been acting like total snobs towards him. Sure, criticise fairly where appropriate - but there seems to be this obsession with finding fault with him, from some people. The unfairly prejudicial treatment that Andrews is receiving from certain quarters mirrors the treatment being dished out to Ince. I guarentee that if Laudrup (sp?) had overseen Ince's results, there would much "glass half-full" talk. Yes, I do have access to that parallel world and if I wanted to, the inter-universal quoting mechanism would leave a lot of people red-faced. Be warned.
T4E Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Just seen his strike on Football First - I genuinely think thats as good a goal as we'll score this season, certainly from a standard of the finish point of view. Brilliant goal.
sambo Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 KEITH KEITH KEITH KEITH KEITH KEITH I think he can make it, he's been solid if not spectacular this season and has now got off the mark. I don't think any of the fans who made the journey to West Brom were booing him as they celebrated his goal;)
dingles staying down 4ever Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Well done Keith. Hope it is the first of many
alexanders Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Good goal today rescuing a point. He showed against Boro he can get himself into goal scoring positions and he has a decent shot on him, good to see him being rewarded today. IMO he has shown this every match he has played. I was just waiting for his first goal and defently more to come.
Blue n White Rover Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Would Dunn and Andrews make a good partnership together in the middle of the field with Grella playing the holding midfielder role. With Andrews and Dunn both being able to push forward, they could be a real force for us. However, I think this would be suited best away from home. At home we need to be playing 4-4-2.
Hughesy Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Credit where its due. Very good goal and not the 1st time he has had a crack from 20+ yards. If he can get a run of games then I think he could become a very good player for us. He seems to be having a decent impact considering he was in league 2.
imy9 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 PI has said "Give the guy a break and let the guy enjoy his football" but my favourite quote is "I know a midfield player when I see one" I am warming to Andrews and I think his biggest test will be against Chelsea against the might of Fat Frank, Malouda and Cole
den Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I am warming to Andrews and I think his biggest test will be against Chelsea against the might of Fat Frank, Malouda and Cole You're not wrong there imy. He wont get close to any of those. Absolutely worlds apart, don't you think?
1864roverite Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Hang on a mo Den KA could actually be our secret weapon on Sunday. We have seen his shots hit many an oppositon player, maybe nad just maybe, he can shoot several times on Sunday and hit a Chelsea foreigner knocking them out !! You never know, he could actually get Chelsea down to 9 men giving us at least a chance of a 0-0 draw in all seriousness, on Sunday, if he gets away without being booked within 20 minutes the lad will have done well.
modes98 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 At least he has the guts to have a pop from outside the area. Fair play to the man for not being afraid after stepping up to the top level.
den Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 At least he has the guts to have a pop from outside the area. Fair play to the man for not being afraid after stepping up to the top level. No problem with his attitude Modes. He can't possibly be in their league though. BTW, I wasn't being nasty, - I just had to smile when I saw imy lump Malouda, Lampard and Cole, in with Keith Andrews.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Andrews, along with Dunn, is one of the few players who actually makes an effort to shoot from outside the box, and I don't think we'll have them pinned in their half, so long shots might be a way forward. For a consolation goal, like.
