[Archived] Keith Andrews - Rovers Newest Signing

Recommended Posts

There has to be a personal reason that the guy is being overlooked. Someone really needs to beg the question to Ince.

No there isn't, Vogel is crap.

Ince has seemingly sussed him out.

End of story.

The only pity is he seems intent on hanging around drawing a salary off us until his contract expires.

So when the team is crying out for central midfielders who can put their foot on the ball, Vogel is not even worth a place on the bench? Despite showing promise when he signed here? He's never even mentioned by Ince. Surely he could say 'If Vogel shows me what he could do, I'll give him a go.' But no. Nothing. Zippo.

Ince doesn't like him.

He is that childish.

What if he doesn't turn up training? What if he does turn up, but doesn't put any effort in? What if he refuses to work with Andrews because he isn't used to playing with League 2 players?

You don't know what goes on in training, yet you assume it is because Ince has just doesn't "like" him. Why would anybody cut their nose to spite their face like that? For no reason?

If I joined a company working as a manager, I would get to know my staff before making judgements on them. Isn't that his job??

Not positive enough for you?

Do one cretin.

Whoa there. Don't put words in my mouth. I said that was nice of you. You were being positive?

I don't know what goes on in training, but to be so flippant about people falling out in the workplace is pretty stupid. It happens very regularly, and football is no different.

I'm just using the logic that if a professional like Vogel (who we KNOW can do a job) is not playing and not mentioned in any context, it must be down to personal issues. This is the same Paul Ince who publicly lambasted his players and didn't take any criticism for his own part in the defeat. Somehow I don't think ego clashes are entirely out of the question.

(who we KNOW can do a job)

The last time that Vogel did a job was in the 2005-2006 season, the same season when Robbie Fowler was a 1 in 3 man during his second stint with Liverpool.

Don't get me wrong I hate Fowler and don't think he should be at the club. Along with Vogel and several others.

I think it's terrible, Andrews (quite rightly) should be overjoyed about playing for his country tonight (which I am sure he will be, a lifelong dream I imagine).

Yet instead of us celebrating the fact we have created this amazing story for him, we resort to calling him names and booing him. Previously he was playing in League 2 (top scorer) and now is playing against Man Utd and being picked for his national team by managerial stalwart Trappatoni.

He has just achieved something amazing, yet so few people can recognise it. They can't admit that they have been corrupted by Sky TV's influence, as they cannot believe that somebody from League1/2 could make it in THE BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD. We have found a bargain. He has scored already and will score again. Yet people will still say things like "Mokeona is better", when previously under Hughes he was the devil incarnate.

Well done Keith, keep it up. Maybe one day you will find a Premiership team that supports it's heroes.

Theres something seriously seriously wrong here Bucky, understand what your saying yet it feels like he plays for someone else.

Good strike but they still lost.

For £800k Philip he was never going to scare the bejeezus out of anyone or anything.

When Keith Andrews was a potential £2m signing (when it was first mooted), it was a genuine reason for concern. Now though, we've outlayed £800k for a squad player who is a full international with a decent eye for goal.

It's hard to argue with that.

Anyone can sign good squad players,we have loads of them. What we have not got is enough players to lift us out of the mediocre. We had 3 top class players in our squad,we've lost 2 and seem likely to lose the third. Someday very soon our entire line-up will consist of good squad players and we'll end up in the division in which they can perform.

"Amazingly, there was another goal in the first minute of injury-time as first cap Andrews thumped a great shot past Fabianski."

Its INCES FAULT!!

I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly, but if you're referring to the "amazingly" bit - I think it was just in reference to the amount of goals scored in the game.

47er - I totally agree - but if you're going to level criticism at the club for not improving the squad, do it on the basis of spending £3m+ on Grella, not £800k on Andrews.

I can do both! Fowler is here on a free but in my opinion its the biggest mistake of the lot. Looks like Ince needs his mates around him, sends out all the wrong messages to the supporters and the other players etc etc.

Wrong messages? I dont think you can really level that at Ince. The message he has clearly sent out, is that If you play well or your on form, you will play. He has given many more chances this season to youth and also squad players like Zurab, Ooijer, Treacy, Haworth, Treacy, Ollson.

Fowler is minimal risk - yes he hasnt done much, but he played a big part in our win against Everton in the cup. For a 3 month contract on pay as you play. That was worth it alone. Hopefully now Ince will replace him with a better player in January, he was hopefully simply used as a stop-gap until Ince could fully assess the situation.

The post you quoted explains why.

I'm not saying for certain, but I'm being led that way because Ince never considers Vogel. You'd think with an international midfielder on the books and the squad being thin on the ground, he'd get some mention. But he doesn't. That suggests to me it's something personal.

I'm sure if we were a bigger side, more attention would be drawn to it.
