[Archived] Keith Andrews - Rovers Newest Signing

Recommended Posts

On Andrews obviously other managers have a different view on him as Roy Hodgson is willing to pay good money to sign him, does he lack sporting knowledge/acumen too?

Managers keep signing nigel quashie, there not always the smartest bunch.

Andrews for all his heart and hard work lacks the technical ability for a starter in centre mid in the premiership. Grella, Reid and Dunn will all be infront of him, possibly N'Zonzi and a new midfielder if one is brought in.

Quashie signs for clubs struggling, Fulham finished in the top 8 and are doing well. I agree that I do not for see him starting in central midfield but he is a better option than The Axe and can play in a number of positions, he can also maybe nick a goal for us coming off the bench.

On the basis that I was willing to give a player with the background Fowler a chance on a pay as you play deal? Your right crazy idea!

I would seriously question your football acumen if you think that MGP is not good enough- his assists alone have proved valuable to us.

No, on the basis that you were willing to give Paul Ince, who was clearly a useless muppet, a chance. I gave him as long as the press conference. And I was right. I was also right about Fowler, Ferguson, Hughes. On those I think you're 1 from 4.

Wow, you are amazing. There is a difference between giving someone a chance once they are here and believing that they are the right person for the job.

Did I want Paul Ince as manager- no, did I back him once he was here, of course I did as if he did well in turn Rovers are doing well, this would be the case for any signing that Rovers make.

Fowler was on a pay as you play, where was the harm? The issue was our main striker was injured.

Hughes and Ferguson? please enlighten me

I said Andrews would be a relative success- which he has been and Carlos would not be, am I as knowledgeable as you now :P

I thought Hughes would succeed and Ferguson (Baby not Sir A) would fail. (Oh and Amoruso)

I think with Ince, many supporters were just hoping that people with the same educational and intelligence levels as they have would be a success. Never going to happen.

You said "You're 1 from 4" which had me baffled.

I thought once we had Ince maybe we would play "attractive football" and he could do similar things to Hughes, was not proved to be the case. Once we was signed he deserved a chance- which he got (maybe 3-5 games too many) and failed so was replaced, hindsight is a wonderful thing :P

To be fair Jan, you shouldn't be too hard on Blackburn with Darwen councillor Salim Mulla and his colleagues.

Well ... how fascinating.

4 out of 8 pre-season opponents now played ... and the only Rovers player to start against all 4 is - Keith Andrews.

BFS gave him the full 45 against both Nacional and Split. And started him against Cambridge and Roma.

Nobody else played both games tonight. Maybe the gaffer is testing his fitness ... or maybe he's grooming his midfield linchpin :P

Actually Olsson played both games tonight as well and McCarthy started both games but was subbed against Split.

My apologies. Nobody else started both games tonight and started both previous games. Only Andrews and Olsson completed both tonight.

Conspiracy theory stands :o

BFS knows how good those are whom he leaves out. So maybe he is unsure of Andrews and keeps playing him for closer looks.

I'm just playing Devil's Advocate. ^_^

Andrews and Olsson have both been pump for us when it matters. Actually that is harsh, Keith does an a decent job but we simply don't have anyone else. Plus both have contributing to us conceding goals a number of times last season.

And the argument still is that Trapattoni would live with them both if he could...

Isn't it surprising then that Sam isn't busting a gut to find someone else?

Olsson going to be our lynchpin LB then?

Brown our regular keeper?

For what its worth. There are clubs sniffing around Warnock so Sam needs to have a look at a player who had a good Euro u-21s to see whether he might play a big role this season. If Olsson is good enough and the worst happens on Warnock, then Sam might have the option of buying a one for the future LB as opposed to a proven 30 year old.

Andrews is subject to a bid Sam must be considering whilst we also know the new season will start without Reid and Emerton and Sam needs to assess how much money if any he needs to hold back from buying a striker for a midfielder. I'd want a long hard look to see whether KA has worked through a bunch of weaknesses or not.

Brown- again there appears to be an offer imminent for him. I'd want to see whether he is capable of making it one last time before selling. He is undoubtedly a class keeper but just that bit too small.

Money and priorities....plus with the injuries in central midfield last season, I would say it is accurate/fair to say we did not have anyone else.

Personally I think (And hope) that we will see a decent season from Johnny X, I think BS see's something in him, let's be honest, he rolls his sleeves up, doesn't shirk a tackle, can pick a pass, like to get forward, always shows (Not hide) and takes a punt (Like saving our bacon @ West Brom Away...)

I think we have far worse in Midfield TBH, especially in the uninjured category!

Probably in the minority, because I like a trier, and he has had to make a massive step up, I'm willing to give the guy a fair crack of the whip, my money's on him doing the business this year.

I will add that Roy Hodgson is no mug and if he's having a sniff we should keep him!

Come on, its obvious.

Andrews is going to spend most of the season on the bench so its only fair he gets to play as much as possible in pre-season or every minute. ;):lol:

Don't worry Keith I love you as a squadie!!!!!

Neil, you're having us on, aren't you? Four years? This reminds me of when Souness offered that four year deal to Jon Douglas after we survived relegation.

I only wish I was.

To make matters worse, Georgie pipes up on SSN with "some breaking news relating to Blackburn Rovers" which naturally got my interests aroused. To call it an anti-climax would be like saying Javier De Pedro was a little bit disappointing.
