[Archived] Keith Andrews - Rovers Newest Signing

Recommended Posts

The thing Jonnolad is trying to do is trying to get people to understand that wehen you support a team you should get behind all the players and support them.

You want the best for the team, buy giving a player stick and destroying his

confidence you hurt the team as well.

Hadn't thought about that.

While I wouldn't openly boo one of our players, I can certainly get a bit frustrated and have been known to shout the occasional word of "encouragement".

I've never seen anything like this on the messageboard, it's obsessional and very weird. i almost get the feeling Jonnolad would be willing to die for Keith, if Geovanni Trapdoori, Sam Allardyce or whoever the other bloke is, told him to.

Tuesday is being billed around the world as the day of the battle of the genii - two international footballers who have defined their sport meet in a much anticipated clash.

Rep Ireland face the slump that is South Africa in a friendly.

Keith "The Cheese Grater Cheekbones" Andrews meets Aaron "The Axe" Mokoena.

Andrews is renowned as the man to have risen, Lazurus-like, out of lower league football to burst onto the international arena. Paying no respect to the established order, the Irishman wasted little time in tearing up the form-book (with his cheekbones), establishing his ex-Mk Dons ass as the number one Ireland midfield CM.

Meanwhile, Mokoena has been charged with the captain's armband for club and country, to execute the Herculean double of saving Portsmouth from relegation and ensuring that his home nation avoids abject humiliation in their World Cup. Mortals would wilt under such expectations but this superman has taken it readily and selflessly, even accepting a positional switch from his specialist hapless midfield to pathetic centre back. No sacrifice is too great for this man when it comes to his professional duties.

Who will come out on top? Find out today.... and then, put money on Pompey to go down.

PS: A small man will come on late in the game, by the name of Elrio Van Heerden. Ignore him.

I can see the weak points in Andrews' play just like the rest of you; but I can also see his good points as well. Therein lies the difference with my views on Andrews and a large number of his detractors.

So in the light of that I would like to ask the most virulent and frequent detractors (too many to name) a very simple question.

When you are leaping on here to point out all Andrews poor passes etc in any particular match, why do you not also point out the similar mistakes made at various points in the match by just about any of his fellow team mates? There is not one Rovers player who goes through a whole game without doing something silly at least once, and in some case several times. But for some reason that I cannot find any justification for, Andrews is pilloried without mercy for every single mistake both large and small. That is quite simply unjust and more than unfair. To me it arises out of pure bigotry, and the perpretators should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

By all means critisise where necessary, but when you do make it a valid and fair critisism. And dont forget that if you want to nit-pick every little fault in our players, then at least do it to ALL the players; NOT just the one you have chosen to single out to use as a scapegoat for every fault in the team's play. If you do that, then it can ONLY be seen by any fair-minded person as bigotry arising out of senseless hatred of the individual.

As someone pointed out earlier in this thread, Andrews is a member of Blackburn Rovers football team, and when he is on the pitch he deserves to be supported in exactly the same way as any or ALL the players on the pitch. Knocking either any individual player or the team in a persistent and loud vocal manner during a match can only effect confidence and team spirit, and can only be counter productive. So if you are really a Rovers fan......DONT DO IT!!!

Good post Fife - bloody good post in fact (is bloody allowed?).

I hate to get into this "obsessional" aspect of the debate because it really is completely irrelevant / boring / unrelated / daft (delete as appropriate), but let's be brutally honest Bryan - your "obsession" for slating Keith is actually at least as prevalent as my support of him - therefore if I'm "obsessed" then so are you, and my "obsession" is one of support for one of our players, whereas yours is just petty sniping at a player for a team you supposedly support.

I can't honestly believe that you really think popping on a messageboard every month or so is actually anything close to an obsession though - therefore I'm not entirely sure why you would post it (having nothing to actually add to the debate would clearly be the obvious answer though).

For once someone has come on here and posted what I think most of us think should happen. Whatever anybody says, Andrews is a Rovers player and he is a Premier League player until he moves on. As such he does deserve our support. Personally, I think he is a squad player but one who's attitude and application make him extremely useful on the pitch. I don't care whether you agree with me or not or whether you think the sun shines out of his backside, if he's wearing the blue and white and is giving his all (as he always does!) give him your support.

I'm bored of this debate now. Can we stop it here?

All you ever seem to post about is Keith bloody Andrews, you've made 4 times as many posts as I have on here and every single damn bloody one is a re-wording of all your previous ones.

It's obsessional, demented and pointless.

Just stop it man, you're driving everyone bloody mad. We heard you the first bloody time.

This thread stopped being about Keith Andrews and became all about Jonno and his stalker tendencies a long time ago. Nothing new and worthwhile has been said on the subject matter for ages now - basically because Keith Andrews does not have enough about him to warrant 117 pages of fresh debate.

Oh, and add to that, he's utter @#/?.

Indeed I do. I don't boo him, and I don't slag him off (loudly) at games. Keith Andrews is blissfully ignorant to my feelings about him.

Not true. Keith Andrews has currently posted on this thread 149(!!!) times.

Lol - I can't actually believe you'd admit that this thread isn't actually about Keith Andrews for you anymore, it's about my posting habits - I love that, that's just superb  Perhaps you and Bryan should just start a new thread on this separate enthralling subject - you could discuss it to your hearts content then without fear of boring anyone.

Bit tight on Fife and others though incidentally that you don't deem their input "worthwhile", because at least it's on the subject of the thread!

I said your mums a crap ####

Unfortunately she did say you were without doubt the ultimate supreme gimp though ("truly a gimp amongst gimps" were her exact words).

Oh come on now Keith, my mum's a little out of your league. Maybe if you weren't such a ###### footballer then she might give you the time of day. You seem to be attributing words to her that simply weren't said, just as you are attributing qualities to Andrews that are completely non-existent.

So jonnolad IS Keith Andrews!

Well 10 out of 10 to you for sticking up for yourself against us lot then.

Philip - you strike me as a sensible well reasoned chap (except when it comes to the Andrews debate of course) - do you honestly seriously believe for one minute that I'm actually Keith Andrews?

Influencing skills 101 teaches you that if you allow someone to declare a position then the debate is over, they will never backtrack because they risk losing face. The only sensible debate you can have is to chew over the facts and submissions then come to a balanced conclusion.

Everyone one here has declared a position on Andrews and be it 117 pages or 1,117 pages nothing is ever going to change. It's mind numbingly boring to keep saying the same thing over and over and over and over .... no ones listening and no one will ever change their mind.

Mods please put this thread out of it's misery and shoot it between the eyes, or if that fails then shoot me!
