T4E Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 That was extraordinary. If he concentrated for the whole 100 metres he could get down to 9:65 and possibly even faster. There is nobody in his league and I expect the 200 metres record to also go. Really? It'd be great if it happened but it's hard to see it, let alone expect it. Johnson's record of 19.32 would involve Bolt running two 100m quicker than the one he ran yesterday. I think he's capable of that over 100m, but it's a big ask to break that record.

Remember though that in the 100m they are taking a while to get up to speed. In the 200 they have the potential to run a longer distance at max speed than in the 100 hence the sub 20sec time.

T4E Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 It's going I hope so, that would be a sporting history. When is the final? EDIT: Decided not to be lazy and check myself. Semis this afternoon, Final on Weds.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hoy wins the cycling in the final against Kenny, the other Great British cyclist. So it's Gold and Silver for GB, and a third Gold for Hoy.

adopted scouser Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 The Australians are spewing that we are above them in the medal table. So much so, they've changed the way the table is calculated and changed it to medals per capita. You couldn't make it up.

Majiball Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Well Done CHRIS HOY, 3 Golds at one games, first hat trick in 100 years.
M-K Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hey, that Ohuruogu woman proves that cheats do prosper. Slow...handclap...
Billy Castell Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 SSN showed the Australian reaction to our success from their antipodean counterparts. Needless to say it was with the grace that Australia shows in such events.
Majiball Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hey, that Ohuruogu woman proves that cheats do prosper. Slow...handclap... Don't pay much attention to Atheletics, so have only really found out about this. I do have a question though, if she got a ban for doping, and then a reprive, why is chambers not at the Olympics, double standards as always, what a shock.
nowthen Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 She missed three drugs tests mate but wasn't proved to have cheated. Why not celebrate a quality performance?

I do have a question though, if she got a ban for doping, and then a reprive, why is chambers not at the Olympics, double standards as always, what a shock. I think its because she missed a test, whereas Dwain failed his test.
Presty On Tour Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 Unbelievable day for GBR again, so many medals.
T4E Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Then admitted that he was a drug cheat. There's no evidence to suggest Ohuruogu cheated. Interesting that the greatest performance in a single Olympics from a GB athlete in the last 100 years has come from a Scotsman. Are those who didn't want to support the Scots as part of Team GB earlier on this thread still so against the idea?
thenodrog Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I think its because she missed a test, What like Rio?
Flopsy Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 athletics tests are different to football's useless ones. If you look into her case and why she is now allowed to compete then you'ld understand why she is completely different to chambers. She fouled up and got punished for it. Chambers knowingly cheated by using drugs
