philipl Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Shabani Nonda (presumably its him) has just pulled one back for Galatasaray against Steaua who got off to a flyer with two quick goals in Istanbul. The two Ukraine teams have had very impressive results whilst two minnows, Kaunas and Famagusta are going OK at the moment.

Grabbi Graeme Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Wally with the brolly's FC Twente holding Arsenal at the moment
Ste B Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Liverpool could have been 2 down, one that looked over the line, and a pen miss
roversmum Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Liverpool just got lucky twice. The ball was definitely in their net, no goal given; then Reina saved a penalty.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 It's Liverpool, what do you expect?
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 How funny would that of been £20m on Keane and trying to entice Gareth Barry and they could be 2 down and face an early exit out of the Champions League.
Hughesy Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Dont think they are going to sign Barry as Alonso is playing so thats him cup-tied and therefore surely wont be sold. Not sure about the 1st, dont think the whole ball crossed the line. The second however wasnt even in the box so only fair he saved it I suppose.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Arse take the lead against The Wally.
Ronin Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 2-0 to L'Arse, and according to reports, the Red Bindippers are struggling against Stadard Liege.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Liege just went pretty close, Liverpool getting pinned back.
Mattyblue Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Clive Tyesdley must be THE most patronising commentator on TV. 'Standard Liege are enjoying their big night out' Liege are the reigning Belgian champions, one of the oldest clubs in Europe with a not too shabby history. Such arrogance is one of the reasons that I pray for 'our' teams (well the top 4 mainly) to get knocked out as early as possible each season.
rover6 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 How did Brolly Power not slay Arsenal? God, this world is such a rip-off.

I was quite impressed by Liege but I still fancy Liverpool to progress at Anfield.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Useless Liverpool cost me my accumulator, although quite a few of the Standard players looked decent, maybe we should look into signing some if they get knocked out in the second leg.
cn174 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 An interesting result from tonight: CLQR32: FT Wisla Krakow 1-0 Barcelona That surely makes us better than Barcelona?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I seem to remember the last time we played Barca. Hughesy got the winner with a sweet volley.
cn174 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I seem to remember the last time we played Barca. Hughesy got the winner with a sweet volley. Indeed we did http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/1487681.stm My favourite line: "the impressive Nathan Blake" :D
philipl Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 Good luck to Standard Liege. The best thing that could happen to revive the Premier League if they beat Liverpool.
Billy Castell Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Come on FC Twente and Standard Liege! I don't care if it is not patriotic. I want all the top 4 to lose. Less money and status then, so it gives other clubs a chance to reach for the big prize. Anyway, the CL is so utterly boring. It is the same 14-16 teams that do OK every season. It is a bit sad to see former greats like Ajax have no chance, whilst Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool reach the 1/2 finals again and again. It is a closed shop, and should be changed to a Euro Super League, so all the Sky TV brown nosers and fashionistas can shove off and join a sinking ship.
philipl Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 I do want Standard to win. McClown is a different matter and Twente are already comfortably stuffed anyway. If just Liverpool fail to qualify, their £10m gets redistributed between Chelski, Mancs and Arse. Wouldn't want £20m to go to Chelski and the Mancs would we?
DeadlyDirk Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 McLaren in his recent press conference keeps saying he knows Arsenal inside out, I beg to differ. He doesn't even know his way out of a wet paper bag. I've got to be honest I always want the english teams to do well so I hope Liverpool and Arsenal do both go through. An all english final would be fantastic again.
philipl Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 Laszlo Boloni Is that really the name of the Standard Liege coach? They deserve CL Group stage football just for that!
