Lathund Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Nicko, according to norwegian news was a Blackburn scout at Lerkendal and saw Rosenborg - Djurgården. Any truth in that?? Watching Per Ciljan Skjelbreid or anybody else?? Well I'm pretty sure they didn't watch anyone at Djurgården. Only possible name I can think of is 20 year old left winger Sebastian Rajalakso, but in all likelyhood it was a Rosenborg player. I doubt it'd be Skjelbred since we've already signed Andrews and Grella, as I think he plays more centrally than on the wings, no?

Boltinho Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Who can we else be watching?? The starting lineup: Jarstein - Keeper - Maybe Strand - Old - No Demidov - Central Defender - Maybe Stadsgaard - I hope not Lustig - New player - Hightly doubting it's him. Skjelbred - Probably Sapara - Slovakian right winger - Maybe Tettey - Central midfielder - NO Storflor - God NO Iversen - NO NO NO NO Berisha - Just signed - So NO
blue and whites Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 my tip would be sapara, he has the same skills as bentley, good technique, good at set piece and a great crosser. he would fit the bill, have done quite good in the champions league as well
hawkiiz Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Per Ciljan signed a new contract just 20 days ago.. but that hardly matters these days. however. i would say avoid. get some real quality, he is very decent, but could very well be another daniel braaten (flop at bolton). maybe they were watching someone else? they have a decent keeper that could be worth a call. also a few good defenders and one or two decent midders, but we have enough of "decent" of those as it is. hopefully they avoid them all. my tip would be sapara, he has the same skills as bentley joke?
krislu Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 If we are looking at rosenborg for a replacement for bentley, then GAME OVER ROVERS...
blue and whites Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 joke.. not at all.. i didn.t say he is as good as him but he has a lot of the same skills. if you haven't seen that you clearly don't watch and understand a lot about football mate.
hawkiiz Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 joke.. not at all.. i didn.t say he is as good as him but he has a lot of the same skills. if you haven't seen that you clearly don't watch and understand a lot about football mate. he is ok for rosenborg and the norwegian league, yes, but you cant for real compare him and bentley? i doubt he would ever be anything more than something equal to emerton when it comes to right wing potential for rovers.
blue and whites Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 i'm not saying he is as good as bentley because he is not, but i am saying both are best at the same things. and i think that saparas crossing really good, maby a bit weaker than bentleys. but still bentley is a better player tough. and i think sapara is the most likely player from rosenborg to be scouted by us.
hawkiiz Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 good thing we got that one cleared up i dont think we should sign him though.
philipl Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I see Palace have transfer listed Tom Soares- weren't we linked at one time? Palace need the cash.
Billy Castell Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Think so. Isn't he one of those rated youngsters like Bostock who had joined Spurs or Moses? It would be interesting to see why he's on the list if he is.
Silencio Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Soares is quite a few years older than them and less talented
RoyRover Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 my tip would be sapara, he has the same skills as bentley, good technique, good at set piece and a great crosser. he would fit the bill, have done quite good in the champions league as well If we are looking at rosenborg for a replacement for bentley, then GAME OVER ROVERS... Sapara is good in Championship Manager, not sure how good he is in real life. I've got to agree with Krislu, we should be looking for a higher standard of player to replace Bentley. Our team still has a very unbalance looked to it IMO. We have too many central midfielders, not enough creativity and no out and out right winger. Emerton has shown that he is more comfortable playing at right back or in the central midfield. Reid, who is out of form is better in the centre than on the right. Even if they were comfortable enough on the right, they still wouldn't bring the creativity that we are desperately lacking.
imy9 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 No transfer news or links this morning? Quite depressing with 4 days of the window remaining!
Valois Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 No transfer news or links this morning? Quite depressing with 4 days of the window remaining! Yeah really depressing, i just feel like slitting my wirsts. Get a grip
imy9 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I have got a grip, we do need a quality right sided player, correct? I suggest you refrain from slashing your wrists, a tad over the top as a reaction to my post, chill.
Ronin Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Just the usual JW way of doing things methinks; going about his business with the minimum of fuss. We already have boosted the squad with who we've signed so far, especially in midfield IMO and I'm sure he's busy trying to secure any remaining player deals before the transfer window 'Slams shut', hopefully the needed right winger!
nicko Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 You have got Robinson, Simpson, Villanueva, Andrews and Grella...that's FIVE. Not bad. You may yet get Fowler. You still want a reserve keeper, a right winger, probably a cover left back and possibly a striker. That could be TEN altogether. And that would be as good as any have done in your 'range.' The right winger is obviously the big thing. We know the names, now it's decision time. I know it's a bit late, but you are not alone - and it's no time to panic.
Bobby G Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 nicko, when you say the names, are you saying Pennant and Joaquin are the top two choices right now, or are Valdo or Lopez in the frame too? Any light you can shed? Also, you havent told us much about Pinto's trial...
Hi Mack Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 You have got Robinson, Simpson, Villanueva, Andrews and Grella...that's FIVE. Not bad. You may yet get Fowler. We wasted time chasing Andrews/fowler! Jaoquin Lennon Pennant all been mentioned at some point, something must be going on behind the scenes! Olic would be awesome.........but very doubtful now! See Manchester "skint" City spending 7 million again on Zabaletta! He was atarget under Hughes werent he?
Mozzer Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 nicko our squad is going to be huge if we bring in another 5 players..any transfer news on who could be leaving blackburn.. i do think a good back up keeper is needed to challenge robinson-im not keen on brown(too small).. a back up left back is needed aswell because if warnock was unavailable there would be no one.. why would we sign fowler aswell as another striker??surely we have enough strikers?? to improve the first 11 i think only a right winger is needed the rest i would say are pretty much to make the squad strong..
ally Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Louis Saha to Everton - how much are they paying for him. Surely Berbatov has to be signed for the scummers now!
Veevs Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I have a slight hunch we may see Ireland join as a left footed right midfielder (but he is more of a central att mid player).. he has been playing down the right hand side and what with ManC getting Zabelta and SWP..
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 A possible 5 players in, but how many out? Read somewhere yesterday Newcastle have re-ignited their interest in Warnock - hope it's pish.
imy9 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Ince, correctly I feel, is bringing in players that he wants at the club. I am sure a number of players will be moved on/sent out on loan (Championship window is a little later I think), I want to see a top quality right sided player at Rovers. At the moment it seems like: Joaquin Pennant are the two front runners, I personally would not mind either one but obviously Pennant is the cheaper option.
