yoda Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Well lets see if that lot are disruptive if they don't move clubs come Tuesday. As I said, shunt him down the road to the Academy to maintain fitness so he doesn't disrupt then see him Tuesday morning. And what would happen if you did something similar to someone in your office?

neophox Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Nicko says the player never has been mentioned and Beckham has been mentioned so it isn't Beckham,
Taggart Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Could the right winger be Beckham? old pal of Ince and definitely will require a complicated move. Don`t quite thing we could afford the wages !
philipl Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 And what would happen if you did something similar to someone in your office? If you have more than one office location, it is the oldest trick in the book. Anyway, Villa resisted a CL side and we couldn't resist tiddly old Spurs (who caved into Liverpool unlike Villa). Spurs Chairman admitted yesterday their summer would have been a disaster if he hadn't netted Bentley- we should have made it a disaster for him.
imy9 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Difference is that Barry is a professional, he stated what he wanted, when this did not happen, he got his head down and stayed at Villa. Bentley on the otherhand said he wanted to move to a Champions league club.... when he heard Spurs were keen he suddenly had an "injury", he also began disrupting training by disrespecting the new manager in front of the other players, Ince did the right thing and we squeezed Spurs for every penny. Bizarre but I did not see Spurs in the draw for the Champions league the other day, someone might want to mention it to Bentley (who also since his move has not said ONE complimentary thing about the club, fans, etc)
nicko Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 As you will understand I can't name the right winger who the move is being made for at the moment. All I can tell you is that it is a surprise and he is foreign. I don't know enough about him to tell you if he is good or not, but the word is he is very quick and does not just play right wing. It's a strange set of circumstances, but let this one play out and then all of the details will make sense. This right wing area seems to be THE priority now. There should be an answer on this today - there has to be by tomorrow.
rovers1993 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 is the fee for him large? i have a strange feeling he's david odonkor? if im right then boy am i lucky nicko any other news on the transfer front for other teams... like berba - manutd and pavylchenko to spuds.
blue and whites Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 odonkor was the first name to fall into my head as well. extreme pace, and i don't think i would be that expensive. isn't he out of favour with his former club.?
thecomebackid Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Man City THINK they have money coming in...but there is no guarantee of that turning into actual cash yet. Well, I just saw (I guess) a Thai walking along Tel Aviv's beach front sporting the new Citeh shirt - so that's $50 for 'Dr. Thaksin' to stuff into the biscuit tin......... pretty smart it looked too, until paling in comparison (with my albeit slightly out of date) Rovers shirt.
Bobby G Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 He is at Betis if its this guy. Pace is his main asset and he somewhat reminds me of a German Aaron Lennon but stronger and possibly a little more skilled...Seems more of an impact player and is inconsistent cause his game is largely based on pace. I doubt its him though.
imy9 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Odonkor has had 3 major knee ops i would be concerned if it was him, Lennon is a better option.
thenodrog Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Updates. PINTO - Has gone. He picked up an injury early on, didn't speak any English and basically vanished. End of story. Shame. I bet that 'injury' was 'helped' on somewhat by our recent weather.
Bobby G Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Nicko but you did say a move is being made for him right now, correct? So has he moved to the top of the pecking order? Do you know why this is, as in less of a fee to pay for him, or...? You dont seem too excited by it.
rovers1993 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 i don't think repeating yourself 3 times would get nicko to reply any faster.
thenodrog Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Anyway, Villa resisted a CL side and we couldn't resist tiddly old Spurs (who caved into Liverpool unlike Villa). Spurs Chairman admitted yesterday their summer would have been a disaster if he hadn't netted Bentley- we should have made it a disaster for him. Modric'll be well suited.
RoyRover Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Well I'm glad that the right wing position is being address and if Nicko is correct the guy we are after has lots of pace which we badly lack. I saw somewhere that we were linked with Kanga Akale of Lens. I wonder if it is him?
thenodrog Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 i don't think repeating yourself 3 times would get nicko to reply any faster. Boards full of 'nicko creeps' nowadays. I imagine they'll all be expecting Alan Nixon to turn up at the Hordens in some kind of skin tight lycra super hero costume.
67splitscreen Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 i don't think repeating yourself 3 times would get nicko to reply any faster. Question from the Evening Echo Echo Echo
bellamy11 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Odonkor would be a very exciting buy. A real risk considering his history of injuries, but a player capable of making things happen with his pace. Throughout the World Cup, the German public would be going nuts for him to come on as a sub when they weren't winning, and would celebrate like they'd just scored when he did. He is very highly thought of there, though I admit I'm not sure how that has panned out. He was always used as an impact player rather than a regular started - but I suppose when your competition on the right is Schweinsteiger (who some people on here thought we could get!?!?!) that's always going to be the case.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Odonkor- no thans- Pace but that is it. He makes Lennon look like Maradonna.
nicko Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Boards full of 'nicko creeps' nowadays. I imagine they'll all be expecting Alan Nixon to turn up at the Hordens in some kind of skin tight lycra super hero costume. No, there are limits.

gumboots Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Sort of rules out Odonkey. think we all now enough about him. There were rumours around Briand from rennes. Rennes wouldn't sell to PSG over the summer and he hadn't played for Rennes at the start of the season because he didn't want to/they didn't want him to. He came back last week and France Foot on Tues reckoned we were looking at him.
blue and whites Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 mario santana would fit the bill, always liked that player. a bit unconsistent but still a class player when in form.
