Thanks for your patience...

The surprise right wing target is Brett Holman, an Aussie who plays for AZ Alkmaar in Holland.

There have been talks going in for the past couple of days, but it is both strange and complicated.

Strange because Holman has just joined AZ but COULD be available if they get a profit.

And complicated because AZ want Andre Ooijer in the deal.

As of right now the clubs are haggling over two lots of valuations...which are difficult as you can imagine.

I don't know much about Holman but he caught the eye as a sub for the Aussies aganst South Africa recently, a game that got Grella his move.

Got to say I didn't know he was a right winger - or seen as that by Rovers - but I am willing to be persuaded.

So we shall see if they can sort out the swap or even do a straight buy.

Valdo of Espanyol was also watched tonight, nod idea how he did.

Pennant is still an option, but I think Joaquin is too expensive as things stand.

It's a bit 'balls up in the air' but that is not unusual at this time.

Nicko any idea how much they paid for him?

Strewth Nicko! Thanks for the info, at times just think you're joshing us tho...

This sounds non-sensical; could understand it if AZ wanted Oojer and then this fella was put in an as a makeweight, but not the other way round. Isn't he another forward/midfielder than an out-and-out winger? So, we're looking to replace Bentley and ended up with this lad, and we have to give them a profit and Oojer? Hmm, sounds a toe-toucher to me?

Still trying to see who out of all our 'targets' is a decent crosser; need an assist-meister for the fantasy footy above anything.

Saw Stuart Ripley t'other week, still looks like he could play..... :o

Aw, shucks, I give up. Let's just get the Spaniard in; surely he can't be twice the gamble as Pennant?

Brett Holman.. hmm not really much on the web about him, but apparently he normally plays in the hole.. so more of an attacking midfielder/forward type chap.. even for Aus he normally plays there.. I guess Grella might of recommended him..

Wonder if we are trying to attract Australian investors.. supports etc.. sounds totally crazy to me..

No need to rush out in the morning for a paper at least. :D

Unless Nicko has something in reserve, but somehow I don't think so.

Brett Mk5 is certainly not what I was hoping for.

The feel good factor for Tuesday morning is slowly becoming a distant dream.

9.5mill Joaquin or 4-6mill Pennant, Sod all the reservations, you only live once, Joaquin Please :D

If Ince Really fancies someone from AZ he should go for Moosa Dembelle......ideal in that he can play on the right as well as upfront he was outstanding in the Olympics .............This Brett fella is just 2nd rate..........Scraping the barrel.........as the deadline looms.........

Ooijer is good enough for us to want to keep hold but at his age its definitely the last chance to recoup anything and from some comments i'm not sure he totally wants to be here anymore.

as long as emo goes right back and reid does'nt see the first team again i'm happy to see this deal happen. We could really do with shipping some dross out in the next 48hrs, what are the chances of finding some suckers willing to pay for our crap before monday night?

Can robinson play for another club this season or is that not allowed? we really can't have a keeper this low on form/confidence/co-ordination and command playing against le arse

Couldnt agree more, perhaps we should write to Mr Keane:

Dear Mr Keane,

As the agent of both Benni Mccarthy and Steven reid I give you exclusive rights to a 'bargain' £10million deal for the both of them.

In seriousness I think we desperately need two 'flying' wingers.. How much do you think Valencia is worth (i.e right hand side) and on the left.... urrrm.....???? Treacy??? Actually unsure but think MGP is not as good as what we need.

This Holman stuff doesn't seem to stack up... You sure we are not lookign at him as a striker rather than a right winger?

We need a genuine right winger. Not a central midfielder who can play on the right - we have two of those already!

Also if we lety Ooijer go suddenly we are down to three decent centrebacks which is thin if we get injuries, suspensions, or as Samba showed to day - massive loss of form... Unless Grella can play centreback?

A few weeks ago many where saying, we don't want any last minute desperation signings.

It seems to me that there is now every chance of that.

We have had six weeks to find a RW, the most important signing we needed to make.

Not saying we will sign Joaquin it was a possibility, and still is for one prem club.

Both teams sprung surprises in selection, with Valencia opting for Renan Brito in goal, just days after his arrival from Internacional, while Joaquin was left out amidst rumours of a pending Premier League move before the transfer deadline. Meanwhile, Mallorca went with two up front, and also left out top summer signing Aritz Aduriz, preferring a strike partnership of Oscar Trejo and Pierre Webo.
