nicko Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Nicko - This looks like the Johnson deal (if there was one) is now scuppered.. Johnson will sign a new deal to stay at MCFC Man City have just signed a Brazilian centre half called Glauber from Second Division German side Nuremberg. One cap for Brazil, sub most of the time at a relegated club last season, found an Italian passport a while back. Curiouser and curiouser. Johnson has been 'signing a new deal in the next 24 hours' for quite a few 24 hours - but it's City, so anything is possible.

imy9 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Nicko- do you think it will be clearer by 11 tonight which/if any of the players mentioned will be signed or not, or is this going to be a last minute scramble at midnight Monday job!!
Mr Creosote Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Ince, if you are reading please buy kightly please, please, please Kightly has just signed a new contract at Wolves and stated that he was proud to play for the club. Good on him. He wont be coming here.

Isn't that quite similar to a Mr Samba that Hughes bought when he was here, I know he wasn't Brazilian etc but was on the bench a lot for his team but came here and came straight in, maybe Hughes has seen something in this guy like what he saw in Samba........although after yesterdays showing that could be a worrying sign for City

Did he find it down the back of the same sofa that Silvinho and Recoba found theirs?
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I can't comment on Holman at all because in all honesty I have never seen him play and wasn't even aware of him until this morning. I value greatly the imput from our Aussie fans however I would just like to point out that from watching the last few Ireland home internationals I can safely say that Robbie Keane is the most overrated player in the Premier League and will be a total flop at Liverpool....however that still didn't stop him scoring 23 goals last season

It just takes people agreeing prices and then it's game on. Interesting part of the Holman deal is that I don't think the Dutch have an extra day to do deals...so they would have to have an agreement by midnight. Complicated.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 On that point, does that mean that only domestic transfers can take place on Monday....or that AZ would have to have Andre signed by tonight?

Interesting part of the Holman deal is that I don't think the Dutch have an extra day to do deals...so they would have to have an agreement by midnight. Complicated. Players would still be able to leave, but they wouldn't be able to sign anyone (so if the deal did include Ooijer then it would have to be done by midnight).

I saw something a few days ago, that they had extended their's to Monday as well. They were the last league to do it. EDIT: Eredivisie Transfer window extended by 24 hours
Sydney Rovers Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Oh please let this Holman news be wrong he quite simply a hopeless player.

nicko Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 HOLMAN - putting pressure on for move... IRELAND - stars for Man City...setback.
ffan Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 HOLMAN - putting pressure on for move... IRELAND - stars for Man City...setback. City now have 13 defenders, how many do they need? Surely clubs like Blackburn,Fulham,West Ham should be trying to get Onohua on loan or some of their other players.

Corluka has been offered around but still starts today...Sparky digging in heels until Zabaleta is settled...but still think he is gone by tomorrow night. Onuoha would go if he was fit...although someone wants him just now when he ISN'T. Ball is in the shop window today too...although they still haven't got a left back.

rovers1995 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 If corluka and ball are starting today and they are in the shop window then Ireland could still be ever though he starts.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Am on hol so I'm trying to catch up briefly, but I have to ask where the hell have Citeh got all their money from?! I thought they didn't have a penny to spend?

I thought they didn't have a penny to spend? They have borrowed 2009/10's Sky money from a bank in the hope that a rich arab will turn up.
Oklahoma Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Been out for a few days so I have no idea what has happened in the meanwhile. The only news I know, and that maybe no one has posted here yet, is that Blackburn Rovers were one of the many teams represented in the portuguese classic Benfica - Porto. I tried to come up with players that we could be interested in and only these are probable: SL Benfica: - Makukula, striker, portuguese international, cloud leave after Suazo signed. Max 5 million € or loan - Zoro, central defender, international for his country, he is not part of the team - Katsouranis, midfielder, also plays as central defender. Played yesterday. Could leave if the numbers are right and wouldn«t be very expensive. FC Porto: - Quaresma, right midfielder, conected all pre-season with a move to Inter Milan. Too expensive, unless Inter backs out and we get him on loan. - Adriano, brazilian striker, not good enough in my opinion.
hollowsr Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Holman is on the bench today for AZ against NAC Breda. DOn't know if this means anything or not?
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Probably that he's not good enough to play for a decent Dutch sides first team
nicko Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Michael Bradley just signed for Borussia Moenchengladbach... Been off the Rovers radar for a while, but thought I would pass it on.
