Al Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 In my opinion buying a class RW effectively gets us 3 players, the RW, Emerton moves to RB (his best position) and Oojier (our best centre half) replaces the out of form Samba. Suddenly the whole team, particularly on the right, looks miles stronger. It makes a huge difference. We must also stop anaysing Robinson's every move. The guy is a good keeper and to analyse everything he does is stupid. We've never done it to any other keeper and Brad too had his faults (free kicks and corners).Leave Robbo alone, he's as good as most keepers in the Prem.

Mozzer Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Paul Gallagher going to Plymouth on a season-long loan according to BBC. he went on saturday-even played against burnley
hollowsr Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Gally has gone already he played on Saturday v the Dingles
CrazyIvan Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 he went on saturday-even played against burnley Apparently he missed a sitter as well...
Bobby G Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 This is starting to resemble the summer when Duffer left, when the squad definitely strengthened but thre first team didnt. We definitely need to get a QUALITY right winger, as I echo the beliefs of above that it would effectively switch around two other positions in the side.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I think Kightly could make the step up to the Premier League and he did look decent for the England Under 21's recently. i am not sure if we can get him though as he has signed a new deal, plus the Wolves boss said he isn't for sale. Then there is the issue about English players being overpriced...
PAFELL Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 The Man City drama will just get better today... Think the 'mystery Arabs' may have done the biz. It could even be a 100 per cent takeover, but there is so much to come out on this. Probable time for Rovers to sack rothschilds. This group that has just bought city looked at a number of clubs - they must have missed the Rovers for sale sign. It is a 100% takeover.

rover6 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Gally has gone already he played on Saturday v the Dingles I think that was an "emergency loan" which will be converted into a season-long loan today.
nicko Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 It is a 100% takeover. I'm not sure it is 100 per cent...think it is £80 million for 60 per cent...Shinawatra needs to stay to avoid being booked into the Thailand jail for a few years.
Esulx Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Heerenveen midfielder Michael Bradley has opted to join Borussia Monchengladbach. Also. something to amuse you all... "10:52: Dave is an unhappy Burnley fan and not just because his club are struggling in the Championship. He reckons the Clarets "will make a deadline day swoop for the persistently injured Franny Jeffers with a bid in the region of 500k. An injury-prone former Blackburn striker, does it get any worse?"

Knowing that sky reporters get things wrong a lot of the time. But they have reported that the arabs have bought outright, without taking out any loans and the Dr will stay on as an honnary president.

Quality, cheered me up!
alexanders Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 What does opted mean? Denied or accepted?
Tris Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 John Williams has confirmed in the Lancashire Telegraph that they are looking to sign a right sided midfielder today, he confirmed that there is money to spend but they wil spend it wisely if the price is not right they will wait until January. So those of you expecting a few signings today then you are going to be disappointed, we are only looking at right sided midfielder and even then the transfer will only go through if the price is right. Best news of the weekend so far. Keep the powder dry. In a market where SWP is worth £9 million and Frazier Campbell £7 million the last thing the club should be doing is blowing the budget on overpriced rubbish. Same with wage inflation - Rocky may now be on £60K but that's peanuts in a market where Owen is being offered £120 and Pennant is demanding £50. Yes a right winger would be nice, but only for sensible money, otherwise get past Christmas and see what's out there then.

But they have reported that the arabs have bought outright, without taking out any loans and the Dr will stay on as an honnary president. The deal on Friday was £80 for 60 per cent...it could have changed on Sunday, but I think Shinawatra will keep a grip just now and a stake.
Tris Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Probable time for Rovers to sack rothschilds. This group that has just bought city looked at a number of clubs - they must have missed the Rovers for sale sign. It is a 100% takeover. More likely that Rovers didn't want this bunch anywhere near the club. City were totally desperate - they had to sell regardless of the pedigree of the buyer or the long term consequences.
Ricky Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I don't think we can afford to wait until then Tris. We have shown in our last few games that we are desperately missing someone of quality on the right.
DingleBaiter Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Out of those six teams you named, all spent more then us last year, only 2 finished higher. I just want Ince to buy a player thats gonna be 1 of the first names on the team sheet. He has - Robinson
Jim J Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 The deal on Friday was £80 for 60 per cent.... Bargain
ABBEY Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Paul Gallagher going to Plymouth on a season-long loan according to BBC. i posted that on friday bryan *****scooop**** gally to plymouth.done.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 We have shown in our last few games that we are desperately missing someone of quality on the right. I guess it all depends what formation Ince wants to play. We assumed that he liked to play a five man midfield which was evident at Mk Dons but so far he seems to have favoured playing a 4-4-2. This might change with the signings of Grella, Andrews and Villanueva so it will be interesting to see what he decides to do. If we are to play a 4-4-2 i think we need a decent right winger.
DingleBaiter Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I don't think we can afford to wait until then Tris. We have shown in our last few games that we are desperately missing someone of quality on the right. Contradiction in terms? You're making a massive, simplistic assumption that we can just go and buy one, that will fit in and placate you - it's not Tesco, you know? Clearly all them churlish gits who said Bentley went AWOL last season haven't clicked that he actually was very good indeed, as his absence has been proven. However, I'm sure Ince & JW have it in hand - despite what most folks seem to think - and will try to do the right thing. Surely although the situation is both urgent and important, it's actually more prudent to have the balanced approach Tris is suggesting. You'd only be moaning if we bought someone for the sake of it and he turned into another di Pedro.

Who's to say that at christmas when we are in a relegation battle that players like Warnock & Santa won't want to leave for better things. Spend the money now on whoever we need to avoid being down there. My fingers are crossed for Joaquin, I know its unlikely, but if I was Ince I'd get him.
