I don't think we can afford to wait until then Tris. We have shown in our last few games that we are desperately missing someone of quality on the right.

I have to agree with Tris on this. The deal have to be right for the club, even it means we'll have to do with Emerton on the right wing. A better suggestion as somebody mentioned was to give young Treacy a try as he seems capable to cross with both feet.

There are crazy deals out there now, and Milner for me is the worst one. 10+ mill for someone without an end product is ridiculous. Williams is running a well functioning club, and I don't want to throw that away for a desperate last minute signing. It can't be done, it can't...

So what is so dodgy about these UAE chaps Nicko who own Citeh (see p. 156)? Are they very impatient? Have a habit of annoying Amnesty International?

Oh, and I would rather wait if the right deal does not come about. I'd not give Pennant £50,000 p/w, and I'd rather not sign another De Pedro. I'd rather try Judge or Treacy before reaching that level of desperation.

More likely that Rovers didn't want this bunch anywhere near the club. City were totally desperate - they had to sell regardless of the pedigree of the buyer or the long term consequences.

Rovers have been up for sale for a long time - yet hardly any interest. Regardless of who (there does not seem to be anything wrong with this new city owner) there have been other clubs bought and sold during the time Rovers have been on the market - therefore the question has to be asked what is wrong with the club of Blackburn Rovers that does not interest a buyer. These people who have bought city (though sky have just reported that takeover talks are still on going) have reportedly paid £200 million - nearly 4 times Rovers value - but they didn't even consider Rovers.

there has been interest in blackburn-quite a few that nicko has said..

for me its the trustee's wanting and valueing rovers to much-i also think whoever they sell to they want to sell to the best person-not just someone with a huge bank account..im guessing this is one reason why we havent found any one perfect to buy blackburn..

I am just asking why Nicko thinks they're dodgy. Does everything have to refer to Rovers in the same way that everything in American news has to refer to America?

OK......Nicko, could you please elaborate why we Rovers fans should not get jealous of Citeh getting new Arab owners, and why they are a bunch of looneys? Could they push through an £8m bid for Benni?

Is that better Paulo?

Aussiefan- for the record I have seen clips of Holman on youtube and his position has been as an attacking midfield player NOT a striker.

Not in the flesh, eh? Well, its better than your claim that he is as a great left footed, RIGHT midfielder!

Your not just agruing with me, all Aussie fans, who have seen him, state he is rubbish and not a right midfielder

I said the Arabs are 'loopy-lou' not dodgy...

The main man runs a TV show like The Apprentice, enjoys hanging out with Hollywood types and thinks Man City should be in the top four.

Is that not 'loopy-lou' enough?

Sparky wanted to move to a club with money - he's got that.

But at what cost?

I for one will be cheering when he comes in and tells Hughes 'You're Fired'. :P

Could we see Hughes on his show then, I know how much he would like that!

who wants a sweep-stake on what Hollywood star turns up first proclaiming his long standing love for City?

I've seen him and he's rubbish. If Ince signs him I am going to send him a tape of me kicking a Coke can around my back yard. I reckon I'll be picked up in the January window.

If you do, make sure you put on the tape head 'Great aussie right-sided winger/midfielder' and you're sure to get a look in! ;)

or there is always youtube and save yourself the postage. :)

I would love for us to come out and sign Kightly or Larsson cos these 2 are players we have talked about on here a lot but have not really been definitively linked with Rovers as with the likes of Pennant and Joaquin. Kightly/Larsson I feel would be the best signings but more surprising.

At least Nicko can't keep things from us today cos everything will come out sooner or later today!

I talked with a friend that is a Valencia supporter about the possibility of Joaquin coming to Blackburn.

He said that Joaquin would probably never leave Spain as he is a typical spaniard: enjoys sunny weather, doesn't speak english and doesn't want to learn it, wants the good southern europe life style.

In a way, he is very similar to Reyes that left because he couldn't addapt to London. Imagine if it were to Blackburn.

Looks like another Brazilian has found an Italian passport down the back of the sofa, eh Nicko. Liverpool signing some 18 yr old from Botafogo.

I really can't decide who we'll sign I've got a feeling it'll be either Valdo, a last ditch bid for Pennant or no-one.

Also Nicko are West Ham really looking at Ferreira? Why do they want another right back they have Neill and Behrami who can already play there.

The more I have thought about it the more this seems likely. He just does not seem enthusiastic about leaving, and I think part of the reason we have been so successful under Hughes is that we have always signed players who wanted to play for us with the possible exception of Warnock who even then was only coming a short way. Clubs like West Ham have suffered by singing a large amount of players who are not excited by playing for them, and have since turned to youngsters to refind that enthusiasm.

McCarthy has shown how devastating it is once a player decides he does not want to play for you. We saw that with Yorke and to a lesser extent Cole as well. I think Joaquin is a cracking player but we don't want to be coercing anyone into performing for us. We want them to be proud to wear the shirt and give their best.

I have a feeling it will be Kightly.

Hope your right.

I think it will get the supporters excited this one, rather than Pennant (who I think is just as good a player. Wrong attitude maybe though). A higher transfer fee for the Wolves player will be surely tempered by wages of probabaly half of Pennant's target of 50k.

I can see it. Although I can see Valdo too....

Well I am sure Van Gaal has seen the guy in the flesh too and was prepared to spend a sizeable chunk of his budget on the guy, this is the same guy who has worked with Davids, Kluivert and co when they were in their teens to win the Euro cup and then went on to manage Barca, he knows talent when he sees it.

FYI I never stated Holman was a great anything, I simply said that there are dozens of left sided players in the PL who are right footed and it being a major advantage, I dont see see the issue with that comment, Young, Milner, even Ireland played on the left brilliantly yesterday.

I am simply arguing that calling him 'rubbish' is a slight exaggeration on your part, in the same way Andrews being described as rubbish was by the MK Dons fans, with all due respect Van Gaal is a better judge of talent than you, other Aussie fans and me!!
