brfcshabba Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 At this time you generally knew Hughes was grafting behind the scenes. I bet you weren't saying that in January when we didn't sign anybody on the last day

Bazzanotsogreat Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Wake up people we're not signing anyone of any quality, you can go to bed early. We're showing the least ambition is the League, The moneys gone, The Trust have surely pulled the biggest wind up ever, We'll give you 3 million in public then take away 10 million behind closed doors. Just thinking the same thing Anyone for Asset striping? Manager, right-winger and goalkeeper
hollowsr Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Come on Rovers, get Kightly. Pull your thumbs out of your arses. Oooh this Berbatov thing sounds interesting. I think Spuds wil have a change of heart, Berbatov gets miffed and starts legal action to walk out on his contract. Therefore we get Bosman X100. Or maybe BosmanATOV
brian_gallagher85 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 At this time you generally knew Hughes was grafting behind the scenes. With Ince you get the feeling he's got his feet up. When did we ever sign somebody late on?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 This might be an interesting thread tonight......talking about OTHER clubs transfer dealings.
alexanders Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 When did we ever sign somebody late on? David Bentley
brian_gallagher85 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 That was the loan deal becoming permanent wasn't it....to free up another loan move?
The Prof. Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I bet you weren't saying that in January when we didn't sign anybody on the last day No you're right but Hughes had said we would'nt and he was happy enough with the squad. I'm not sure wether Ince is happy with the squad or not but a right winger was the top priority and I just can't see the effort being made.
percy Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 You'd like to think the Berbatov situ would blow up spectacularly, but I guess it comes down to Scudamore and co. doing their jobs.....what are the chances of UEFA / FIFA stepping in nicko? Remember how City and Pompey were allowed another couple of days to re-work the Benjani deal in January? If Utd and Spurs want to drag this on, I'm sure it will. I think City are just throwing their name around in order to raise their profile. As fror Rovers, would be very disappointed if we didn't bring in a right winger of some quality. If we rely on Emerton and / or Reid then we're in trouble.
brfc_jonesy Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 at the end of the day, none of us have got a danny what paul ince is doing, he might pull out a blinder and we will all be licking his aris!
colbert Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Put it this way Stroke Boy will go pink when he realises this won't be resolved by midnight, while the other Sky boys will be waffling on until midnight in the rain. But the fun has only just begun on this one. who or what is Stroke boy, please someone explain this for me!! thanks
Tom 1 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 At least if Villa aren't going to get a striker and blow a good summers work, then at least I can laugh if United don't get their main man.
BuckyRover Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 No you're right but Hughes had said we would'nt and he was happy enough with the squad. I'm not sure wether Ince is happy with the squad or not but a right winger was the top priority and I just can't see the effort being made. On what basis do you make this assumption? Paul has said he WANTS to sign some players. Just like Hughes always used to say. The only reason you could assume this is due to some deep seated psychological distrust of Paul Ince, because he has done nothing to indicate he is not making effort. The amount of staff he has had to replace as well as replacing a great goalkeeper would indicate to me (and any other sane individual) that he is making A LOT of effort.
roverich Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 If Rovers are looking to bring someone in (though it doesn't look like they are obviously) then I am very thankful that they are keping it quiet. With everything else going on, going public about prospects right now is simply asking someone else to come in and scupper the deal. I believe Ince (and JW) must feel we need a winger but if noone better than Reid, Emerton, Villanueva, etc. is interested then there's nothing can be done. Personally though I feel Pennant is better than what we currently have and is clearly interested - not a dream signing but the general consensus (bar a few exceptions) seems to be that a winger is essential and if he is the best available he's better than nothing.
frosty Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 who or what is Stroke boy, please someone explain this for me!! thanks Reporter for SSN, check out his own thread on here for more.
67splitscreen Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Can Berbatov buy out his contract? This legislation could allow a raft of top Premiership names to follow suit. Referred to as the "protected period", if a player's contract was signed prior to reaching the age of 28 then, provided he has completed three entire seasons or three entire years, he is permitted to end the deal with 15 days' notice. If the contract was signed after his 28th birthday, only two seasons or years must be served. "The protected period refers to any players regardless of their age," said a Fifa spokesman, responding to a misconception within the game that the rule is applicable only to players aged 28 and over. So No not for another 9 months he signed May 06
ffan Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I hope this transfer window malarkey gets scrapped.
The1mattjansen Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I imagine United have given Berba the money to buy-out his contract!
rovers1995 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I don't want it to because if the transfer window disappears then you could have a player one game and then see him get sold the next day.
nicko Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 You'd like to think the Berbatov situ would blow up spectacularly, but I guess it comes down to Scudamore and co. doing their jobs.....what are the chances of UEFA / FIFA stepping in nicko? Remember how City and Pompey were allowed another couple of days to re-work the Benjani deal in January? If Utd and Spurs want to drag this on, I'm sure it will. I think City are just throwing their name around in order to raise their profile. That is a very intelligent piece of reasoning. Man U hijacked him because they thought they could. Fergie played the part of Robert de Niro and was the taxi driver. However Spurs are going pure mad mental... Seriously, this could be the biggest row ever. Trying to confirm something right now. But this one might run and run. And after the Benjani fiasco, the Premier League may be under pressure to make sure the deadline isn't really the deadline. Midnight, September 2 anyone? Who wants to tell Stroke Boy?
brian_gallagher85 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 He appears to have fallen off the face of the planet has our Stroke Boy Anything in Heskey to Villa Alan?
nicko Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 He appears to have fallen off the face of the planet has our Stroke Boy Anything in Heskey to Villa Alan? Villa bid £6 million...rejected.
