I hope this transfer window malarkey gets scrapped.

Then the likes of Chelsea will have no limit on the superstars they can bring in.

Well I hope it gets extended so Fulham can make a couple of more signings :P

or so Blackburn can sign a decent right winger....

So S'Alex kidnapped Berbatov? This is unreal.

It is a duplicate of what happened with Diego Forlan.

The Uruguayan flew in to London with Middlesbrough, thinking they had signed him in a coup.

Fergie sent an agent - a burly Scottish chap called George Urquhart, to nab him at the airport and take him to Man U.

Urquhart is also Sav's agent and looked like Shrek, grabbing Diego by the jacket and hustling him into a waiting car.

Man U? Don't you just love 'em.

Only thing is with this one....Tottenham don't see the funny side.

Can't say I feel sorry for Spurs in any of this but it is comical how Fergie is playing the same damn game again! Hope he doesn't get away with it this time though.

Alan, is there any truth in portsmouth getting barton and selling diarra to spurs.

I think the Joey Barton thing is a stunt. I see the hand of the master magician Willie McKay at work.

Joey could be banned for a lot of games...nobody is buying him.

Portsmouth made a cheeky offer a couple of days ago, but nothing is doing because Sean Davis and David Nugent won't go.

On what basis do you make this assumption?

Paul has said he WANTS to sign some players. Just like Hughes always used to say.

The only reason you could assume this is due to some deep seated psychological distrust of Paul Ince, because he has done nothing to indicate he is not making effort.

The amount of staff he has had to replace as well as replacing a great goalkeeper would indicate to me (and any other sane individual) that he is making A LOT of effort.

Good call - I can't believe the number of people on here slagging off Ince and JW for not signing X Y or Z player. How do we know what is going on behind the scenes? How do we know that hard graft is being done but for whatever reason the deals ar just not happening maybe terms of valuations being out, wage demands or just plain awkward agents.

If nothing comes of tonight, and its looking less likely by the minute, what is the point in having a go at Ince, JW, the club etc...

Get behind the manager and the club and stop creating such a negative atmosphere.

Surely this must be an exaggeration. If it isn't then Man Utd and whichever individuals involved should be arrested for kidknapping or whatever. Plain and simple. If Berbatov was an East European woman, there would be action taken.

It's irrelevant. They've got a job to do, and so far they've not done it. It doesn't matter how hard they are trying.

If a player tries hard but doesn't get the job done, we don't excuse him due to his workrate, we call him the second coming of Ashley Ward and boot him out the door.

Why would newcastle pull that stunt. What would they have to gain from it?

Newcastle didn't pull it...the agent did...see the reaction, watch the comment, start a rumour...and hope somebody comes in.

It's the way the game is these days.

Too stupid to take seriously.

Has anyone looked at the Man City thing properly.

The Arab says he has got a takeover and wants to buy any player he has heard of...Shinwatra says it is a partnership and not a takeover...and NOBODY has done due dilligence yet. There won't be a deal until September 15 and they are already trying to spend the money.

Woah!!!!!!

That sort of behaviour isn't restricted to Man Utd though.

I remember it also happened with Amdy Faye, he'd arrived at the airport ready to go somewhere (I can't remember where now, hopefully someone can fill this in) and Harry Redknapp had sent someone to grab him, he duly signed for Portsmouth a few days later.

I suspect it might happen with more players than we know about if the likes of Portsmouth can do it too.

2104: This won't surprise you in the least, but I'm getting wind of an enormous bust-up over the signing of Tottenham's Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov. It probably revolves around Manchester United taking him though a medical, even though Spurs haven't allowed United to speak to him yet. This one is about to get brutal.

Can I be the first to say hello to the guy from the BBC website, who is obviously reading this thread?

Woah!!!!!!

Are they trying to spend the money though or is it just a lot of publicity stunts?

If nothing happens in the next 3 hours they have until January to sort out their finances when it comes to bringing in new players.

It would be interesting if they did have a big money move accepted and wanted the money upfront.......
