Fergie will get away with it, if Spurs decide to pursue the matter. If it had been pretty much any other manager who had done the same thing they would really be in the ****.

Its looking like Bunn will be our only signing. Not sure its worth watching SSN and staying by the PC browsing the net for the next three hours to see if we do sign a big name right midfielder/winger. I just get the feeling nothing Rovers related is going to happen.

The Berbatov case is going to be the biggest barney ever...just wait and see.

From BBC website - looks like we have another reader !!

2104: This won't surprise you in the least, but I'm getting wind of an enormous bust-up over the signing of Tottenham's Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov. It probably revolves around Manchester United taking him though a medical, even though Spurs haven't allowed United to speak to him yet. This one is about to get brutal.

Are they trying to spend the money though or is it just a lot of publicity stunts?

If nothing happens in the next 3 hours they have until January to sort out their finances when it comes to bringing in new players.

It would be interesting if they did have a big money move accepted and wanted the money upfront.......

Newcastle can't land a player because it is a split club.

No doubt the Geordies will get their shirts off and start screaming at this - but the proof is before your eyes.

Milner was staying - gone. Warnock bid was a total waste of everyone's time. Owen new contract? Sure. Barton must take a pay cut or be fired - check the rules.

Honestly, this Premier League is diseased.

That is a very intelligent piece of reasoning.

Man U hijacked him because they thought they could. Fergie played the part of Robert de Niro and was the taxi driver.

However Spurs are going pure mad mental...

Seriously, this could be the biggest row ever.

Trying to confirm something right now. But this one might run and run.

And after the Benjani fiasco, the Premier League may be under pressure to make sure the deadline isn't really the deadline.

Midnight, September 2 anyone?

Who wants to tell Stroke Boy?

I wonder where he got that info from?!

Edit: Doh, right you are Ste...

nicko, don't you think it's odd that the board left it so late to have a meeting over which right winger candidate to go for? They've known for some time that this position is a priority signing - why wait until there's hardly any time left to sign anyone?

This.

To be fair, it's not been an easy vacancy to fill.

JOAQUIN - good idea, very expensive, strange lad.

PENNANT - bad idea, very expensive, strange lad.

IRELAND - good idea, mental club, funny lad.

HOLMAN - interesting idea, too complicated deal.

VALDO - strange idea.

I don't think there's any doubt that a Bentley replacement SHOULD have been bought, but I am glad it wasn't my job to fill it.

On what basis do you make this assumption?

Paul has said he WANTS to sign some players. Just like Hughes always used to say.

Hang on...

When we desperately needed quality up front, Hughes brought in Bellamy. When Bellamy needed replacing, we got McCarthy, Roberts and Nonda. When Nonda went we got Santa Cruz. The only time he faltered was when Savage wasn't sufficiently replaced...but that was obviously due to lack of funds available at the time.

Ince hasn't addressed our problems adequately at all, with the exception of replacing Friedel. The right side of the field is a shambles. There is absolutely nothing to suggest Simpson is ready for first team football, so we're left with the same out-of-position players there, and we're going to be back to Bert Mk1 on the wing.

I don't enjoy saying this, but Hughes wouldn't have left us in such a sorry state if there is as much money to be spent as we're lead to believe.

The meeting couldwell have been an emergency following a couple of bids falling apart at the last minute. Maybe they wanted to discuss if there was enough time still available to find a replacement. I haven't got a clue but am merely questioning why you assume the board and Ince have been so "lazy" in their search for a replacement when there are so many possible explanations for the "emergency meeting" which to my knowledge has still not been officially confirmed and may have been something different anyway.

I know, but isn't that exactly why they should have had the meeting earlier? For all I know they might have had meetings previously...I'm just curious I guess.

The board meeting was to go through the options for the last big vacancy.

NOT an emergency, just a sit-down and a discussion.

A bit old-fashioned, but when you look around...maybe not such a bad thing.
