Setanta Sports News reporting we have offered Alvaro Recoba a contract, any truth in this?, if so what do you think the chances of this happening?

Was that just on the normal news scroller? If so it's been on since yesterday morning, I noticed it was still there at about 7pm tonight.

I read somewhere that Pennant won't go to Stoke because they won't pay him the £50k per week he wants, i can't see us paying that either.

I know we don't want to end up splashing a huge amount of money on a player for the sake of it, but we have had in my opinion plenty of time to find a replacement for Bentley. I think a large amount of fans are going to ask why the hell did we sell Bentley in the first place if we couldn't find a replacement?

If we continue to play a 4-4-2 system then i can see us in trouble, Reid and Emerton aren't the answer to replacing Bentley. If we aren't looking to bring in a decent right winger then i would look towards changing the formation.

Aye I have to agree...

What's happened to the club that was so ambitious that it snatched the most coveted cup from under the other so called "Big Teams" noses?

It's like there is an air of complete apathy now and that the board are content just to stagnate about in midtable limboland, whilst other teams who have never ever come close to the cup are buying quality players and now looking like they too one day could be up there in the higher echelons of the table.

It's not only the lack of signing decent players that bothers me, it's also the obvious un-saleability of us as a former Premier League winning team.

I was hoping for a good signing that would indicate the opposite of the above, but looking at the clock now it's seeming ever unlikely.

Cmon Nicko throw us a lifeline pls!

Bentley had been hankering after a move since January. So the club have had more than 6 months to identify a replacement.
