Well I guess I have to leave it at that then as currently we can't search back more than a few weeks at present for the post.

I was certain Cruz was being offered around and came to Rovers for a day or two so we could look over him before we brought him in, after we had agreed a fee etc, with Man City still interested. No one else remember that? Oh, well. Probably dreamt it or something.

I remember something similar, not for a trial game or anything!! ......im probably dreaming! In fact, i think i was at ewood at the time ....actually, yeah i was dreaming!?!

Is the trialist Argentinan youngster Oscar Trejo? Plays in Spain for RCD Mallorca and holds an Italian passport?

West Brom were interested recently but their bid was rejected. He does have a release clause in his contract which is over £4m pounds. Not sure the exact value!

So it's not Saviola... Makes sense, as he would NOT be coming on trial, and Newcastle are surely in pole position given that they seem keen on creating "Little Argentina" up there, with the failed Aimar bid, and now the signings of Collocini and Gutierrez (who looks a real player by the way).

If this is a "top striker" then the trial aspect is puzzling. And I think I'm right in saying that Nicko mentioned another Premier League club were ahead of us in the race to sign him. Nicko - Is this player an established international?

glad it's not Hasselbaink, that would give the impression of Fowler recommending him to Ince!!!

Sounds like chief scout Barry is definitely putting in the airmiles and watching some decent players. Nice one Ince for getting him from Liverpool.

He also turned down Real Betis JBN. Absolutely no trial involved whatsoever as far as I can remember. Why would he bother taking a trial with us when he could move to Betis or Man City without it?

Well the way I understood it was he wanted to move to England and there was no offer on the table yet from Man City.

Anyhow, good on ol King Carlos.

Adriano sounds very plausible hasn't he had injury problems etc, was loaned back to brazil last season but of those options you mentioned I would prefer Podolski, connections with Santa? and what a left foot that boy has!!!!!!!!!

Oh and number 20 and 11 are still available to be given to players?

Adriano had personal issues.. started to go out on the drink a little too often... so mutual decision to send him home where he sorted his life out, stopped drinking and started scoring for fun again.. so far it does not sound like he is in the plans of the Special one.. and has been offered around.

I wouldn't have said this guy is the 'top striker' who Nicko said. 2 goals in 24 appearances last season is not the best return but he is only 20.

I guess the quick trial would be to just see if the player is fit enough and still has it so is probably someone who doesn't get much game time or has suffered from injuries.

Ivan Klasnic- Werder Bremen had two kidney transplants last year and is a "top striker" IMO however I think he may have joined another club.

He joined Nantes a few weeks ago from Werder Bremen. He's a top player and I would have liked us to have a looked at him. He was looking for a club in a warm climate, because of his illness, so that ruled us out. The Loire Valley should be warm enough for him. It will be interesting to see who this 'top striker' could be. Someone like Saviola, who has very limited chances at Real Madrid or some other player who is at a club who have more strikers than they could shake a stick at is the way to go.
