Just heard Henning Berg is the new boss of Lillestroem...taking over from Fjortoft.

Can our Norwegian chums confirm?

Can and will

But he did not take over from Fjortoft. Fjortoft was more in a Directof of Football type of position.

Chealsea old-boy Erland Johnsen was the coach/manager.

Yes it's all over the media here. Berg will take over from 1st of January, although since the Norwegian season lasts from April to October, he'll probably join them after this season finishes.

He'll not replace Fjortoft who is the sporting director, who's leaving after disagreement with the organization of the club, but claims to be in favour of appointing Berg. Lillestrom has been without a manager since before the summer and has appointed Erland Johnsen and Frode Grodaas (former Chelsea players both) as caretaker bosses out the season.

Final name from a bored veevs.. Salvador Cabanas (and dont slate me for that name.. SA player of the year, Paraguay player of the year, regular goalscorer, not a glamour name, played with Carlos at his club in Audax, apparently wanted by Wigan)....

In all seriousness though, this would be a fabulous signing - but one can only presume Spanish wingers don't have much competition. I distinctly recall de/di Pedro being quoted 'as the best winger in Spain last season' on signing at Rovers, pity his legs got lost in transit on the flight over though. What's the word on the street regarding this guy's form then? Is he likely to be another one with hunger to get on top of his game, or come to live in Wilmslow and go shopping?

Joaquin has had a couple of dodgy seasons, since he signed in 06 Valencia have been on the slide beset by infighting and boardroom unrest. Betis forced his transfer to Valencia, he did not want to go. So you have to understand his first season was one where he was not quite right in his head. 07/08 was a shocking start for them and Koeman was quickly brought in, this was the death of Joaquin. Koeman played a system similiar to Mourinho after he signed Ballack, 1 sitter with 3 central players in front Silva was moved central and Joaquin mainly used from the bench. Joaquin and others where made scapegoats by Koeman, the unrest in the squad was well documented, at one stage last year they where certain to go down. His form dropped he was played out of position, not good times. A caretakers came towards the tail end of the seaon, I don't remember his name, but he played with wingers again Joaquin looked good again driving forward, showing good signs of trickery, and should have made the spainash national team. He's had a rough couple of years, but he's still quality.

One thing that does worry me is that we read that the president was meeting with his agent to discuss the transfer, why?. When Valencia rejected a bid for Villa earlier in the window the owner of the club went mental, he was furious, they desperatly need money. So a bid comes in from us, and the president wants to discuss it with the agent, perhaps given that betis forced Joaquin to move to Valencia, they are going to ask him to do something similiar again he has already proven he will "do the greater good". I'm fairly certain even in spain the manager would be the one to chat with a player, not a money man president. He still has it he proved it in the tail end of last year.

Den, I was under the impression that they had to shell out quite a bit in payments for the players they bought last year. I'm sure it was rumoured on here that it was around the 15m mark. I may be wrong but I'm guessing that's where most of their new money will be going.

Don't forget to add on some compo to the spud-U-likes, For corluka.

Adriano speaks out - "Why I chose Rovers".

New Blackburn signing Adriano has spoken to the press for the first time, since his ten bob transfer to the greatest club in the world. When asked about his choice to join the greatest club in the land, Adriano replied in a thick Lancastrian accent, "Well t'be honest like, I git sunburnt easily so it were a bit funny in them other countries like. Now like round these parts I can go t'farmers market every week and buy some pigs for me wife. And t'nightlife round 'ere. Cor, that'll ding dang do for me!"

Above all, says Adriano, the main reason he joined Blackburn Rovers, voted most loved club 5 years running, was due to the "proper nice pies".

Adriano has signed a 10 year pie as you play deal with added peas and gravy bonuses. The economy has a huge boost with inflated pie sales and Blackburn has quickly surged to 1st place in "greatest towns of all time".

Surely that can't be right, they must have budgeted for those signings without relying on selling players in the future to fund the deals.

If that is true, then that means we would have had to sell players any way to balance the books? Doesn't add up for me.

David Suazo isn't a bad prospect at all, couldn't for the life of me understand why Inter wanted him from Cagliari. He was a good solid player, but by no means a star name. Cagliari struggled for most of last season after he left, only pulling it together in the last few months and avoided relegation. I think he'd be a good signing.

Man City close to signing Silvestre from Man U for a small fee...which will probably mean Corluka being sold to Tottenham for a big fee...and ending their little dispute...and possibly meaning Dinamo Zagreb get their second installment for Corluka...Michael Ball may also go to bring in even more dough.

Starting to warm up

I see the BBC claims we are looking to do a double swoop for Zigic and Joaquin.

Joaquin would be a great signing, though I would see it as a short term option as its likely he would be off after a season or two if he does well.

Zigic, I’m not so sure about. Can’t see how he would work with Roque. That’s assuming that Zigic is being looked at to replace Benni if he goes. If he is being touted as a Roque replacement then that’s pure madness.

Fergie does want Richards maybe that could be the surprise den metioned the other day, they keep Corluka a CB really and flog there biggest assest. Wonder what he would fetch?? I do however think that would result in Frankies deportation the city fans would hunt him down and take him back themselves.

Hopefully it has no weight, I and I'm sure most others would want pace with Roberts becoming back up to RSC.

There is a journo from Chorley going under the tag pokerman on the official board.

He is pouring cold water on Joaquin, reckons Brum are selling Larsson for £6m this week but isn't saying he is going to Rovers and he reckons Keith Andrews is going to Watford.

The reported involvement of the Valencia club President on the Rovers' offer is an encouraging sign by the way.

With regards to the 1-1 draw with Wrexham, I got up to 16 Rovers players away on international duty and gave up counting. Must have been Tugay, Dunn, Carlos, Fowler and the Langho Primary School in Rovers' colours.

Surely that can't be right, they must have budgeted for those signings without relying on selling players in the future to fund the deals. Not if the iceberg had melted in time, remember this time last year no actual charges had been brought against Taksin, he was pretty sure that his assets would have been released.

If that is true, then that means we would have had to sell players any way to balance the books? Doesn't add up for me. They borrowed against 08/09 TV money, now they are reported to have borrowed again against the 09/10 TV money to pay the debts, all adds up to deep sh!t.
