Another translation on the Joaquin situation. While the headline says he's turned down rovers, this says differently:

"The future of Joaquin is to be at Valencia as he is a Valencia player and has a contract with the club," Espejo told Las Provincias.

"But if an offer arrives that the club is interested in, Joaquin will have to listen, and also vice-versa.

Berg will take charge at lillestrøm from new years.

fjørtoft was never the coach. he was "manager" but manger means something else over here. not really sure what he have done, but whatever he did it was terrible. he left bacause he could not agree with berg on some tactical issues or something. the man is a muppet.

But what I want to know is............just what have Valencia done for us?

Anyway, the BBC are now doing a story saying we're in for Zigic and Joaquin. Are these moves a goer? I see a few references to the latter as I skimmed the last few pages, and the answer is 'maybe'.

No idea who Jordi Lopez is either, or who this mystery player nicko is refering to.

I see we have a new reserve team manager

Interesting about this Lopez guy, another free agent? Money a bit tight?

Welcome to the club Mr Brunskil

I'm suddenly feeling a bit more optimistic about the youth/academy set up, going by his comments with what he want to do.

Certainly needs it so I'm pleased to see people coming in with strong youth based backgrounds, especially from pool who have been developing this departement strongly in recent years.

As long as we can finish above crewe this year that would be a start.

Being pushed out the door again, by the sounds of it. Poor lad best come to rovers, nice pies and Hero worship beckon you.

Why is Ince rooting around the bottom of the bargain basement bin? We don't need squad players, we need genuine quality to improve the first eleven. There should be plenty of money available, use it!

I can only assume the likes of Joaquin, Olic and this mysterious man from another time zone will not come cheap. We may need to lower our sites in some of the other required areas. Although I'd like to think not.

Maybe Hughes moving on was the best thing to happen in regard to our youth development.

Wow there is a lot of catching up on here since this morning.

Is there any more news of who else played against Wrexham, Villanueva's goal any good?

Quite amusing that everyone is trying to guess the striker were interested in, someone's bound to be right, we've named more or less everyone around, I'll throw a few out just in case:

Huntellar :-)

Cavenaghi

Kluivert

Fredi Bobic , hat trick against England recentley, top player!!

nicko,

I know the general consensus on here is that if Ince gets an offer of £8-9 million for McCarthy we would be more than happy for him to accept it, but do you think that since he has been stressing so much lately that nobody else is leaving, it will be difficult for him to accept any offer without going back on his word in front of all the fans.

I know obvious it's football and anything can obviously happen but do you think these comments might perhaps put the price up past even what Roy 'Double' Keane would pay.

Fair point...but surely we'll only go for someone like Olic if McCarthy leaves, in which case that deal should fund itself.

We only need quality on the right wing and in centre midfield really, everywhere else sorted. We should have more than enough money to bring in two quality players.

Edit: Although, a thought that just crossed my mind, if he's looking at players such as Sablé and Lopez as alternatives to Andrews, I'll be delighted. :)

I would forgive him just this once. Having said that, I've been very surprised that he's come out with that on more than one occasion now, especially since we already knew that Sunderland fancied Benni. Perhaps it's a ploy to let them know we don't want to sell, thus driving up the price.

A statement like "Noone's leaving" really just means "The only way someone leaves is on OUR terms, stop making bids for our players and just (Please don't use that word again) off". Us wanting to sell someone is a different issue. And yeah, perhaps it's just to drive up the price,

As much as some others probably won't like it I do want to see some of this Money we have at the moment, pushed into this department. A link up with a Uni, as I know some other clubs have done with great results.

Coaches sent to top european academies, to observe and learn, maybe even sent to study degree's in various sporting fields. Other types of training introduced, serious techinque work. Operating training sessions for kids under the age of 8. Sorry to go its just I have strong opinions in this field.

I hate say it but, I just have this feeling some of the money will be held back, maybe for Jan (althoough signing people in Jan in so expensive), but maybe also for next season, if we do as some have said generate a 10M kitty a year it maybe nice to have say 5-7M held back so that, should we get into Europe we would be able to sign a big player.

Like I said its a feeling.

Oh and completely off-topic, has anyone else watched the weakest link, I've not seen it for years. Do you have to fail an IQ test to get on this show they are all seriously thick.

Thanks.

El Puerto de Santa María......... Sounds much nicer than Blackburn - Darwen, or even Leyland. What a boring, dreary country we live in. Don't blame him for staying there.

It's not quite so exotic sounding if you translate it - Maryport. A bit like the very posh sounding Guiseppe Verdi - Joe Green in English.

What are people waffling on about on this thread? Nicko back to blackburn and trnasfers, any more developments, on any potential signings? Are you able to leak anymore clues on this striker?
